- The man from the ghat who on a former day abandoned
- [his] chariot, came alone, passed by very near
- [with the words] "which [is] your village?" [and then] went,
- yesterday he came back for longer, with a heart that thought:
- "we share its good fate(?)", pointing out the crab,
- that placed for [its] mate, descended into the hole in the Tāḻai roots,
- dragging [it] along with taking [it][FNote_149], so that [its] beauty was spoiled, a ripe fruit
- that had dropped into the drinking ghat from the broad-leaved Nāval tree.
- Look there! The chariot appears. Today,
- if we don't receive [him], it seems
- he himself will not resolve on it, possessing [too] much shame too.
- Shall I hide behind the long peaks of white sand?
- Alas, friend, you talk [to him.]
