- After spending the midday together in the cool grove of many flowers,
- if [you] just go back in the evening that has come,
- taking for [its] decoration the sea with the twilight sky,
- as the appearance that harmonized together the colours
- of the two great gods of frightening fierce power,
- while the groups of bees, having eaten the fine pollen, abandon
- the blue water-lilies with globular stems fastened to the cool mud
- in the curved backwaters, when the disk-shaped goer with [his] one-legged
- vehicle vanishes behind the great mountains on the western side,
- she will have great loneliness.[FNote_138] Therefore,
- beware of making noise at midnight in the sleeping village
- with [your] proud horses of glorious work that won't miss a beat,
- avoid [it] by leaving [your] long chariot, gently(?),
- cross the heaps of sand, as an elephant bull descending from the hills,
- [and] come at night, o man from the coast of the strong water.
- In the fragrant grove of Puṉṉai trees,
- that spread fragrant blossoms, good flowers
- like gold in the frontyard, where the Aṉṟil rests
- in the palmyra tree with the heron that has eaten fish in groups,
- we have made a sign.
