- Coming at midday, for the trouble of many days to end,
- spending [time] in the pleasing shade of the Puṉṉai grove,
- looking at the evening to bring delusion[FNote_121], would that
- you[FNote_122] stopped having desire to go, while the charioteer
- urges forward the generous(?) chariot, well-prepared(?)[FNote_123].
- Saying: "In the backwaters,[FNote_124]
- while her new integrity of good grace got lost,
- like Pavattiri with many-flowered seashore groves
- of Tiraiyaṉ with golden ornaments [and] unceasing fame,
- the flood has increased noisily(?). On the way,
- time has become confused indeed for the one who has set out to go[FNote_125],
- when the strong fish revolves with the sharp-toothed snake",
- --- what if you rested here today, o man from the sea
- lustruous with flowers, in order to dispel the affliction in you,
- - in the village[FNote_126] of our residence by the extension of the clear sea,
- where the long nets with bent knots, torn by the killing shark
- as soon as it leapt[FNote_127] for being hooked with great speed by the sharp hook
- of the fishermen of strong work who engaged(?) in [their] nightly task[FNote_128]
- in firm boats, hang down from the Tāḻai trees in the frontyard,
- let loose from work to every dashing of the moving wind from the cool sea?
- Your horses will be those who become full of gruel
- of white rice mashed with big curd bartered for fresh fish. As for you,
- we adorn[FNote_129] [you] with fragrant sandal on which bees hum,
- which has been effected in joining [it] to the limbs(?), from the western fields
- with the round [stone] lustruous [as] the sky, given by the northeners[FNote_130].
