- Now,
- as the heron with cool wings, that remembered [its] solitary young one
- on the big twig of the black branch of the red-blossomed Ñāḻal tree,
- rises from the dark backwaters of water-lilies with sapphire flowers,
- the seashore grove has become lonely,
- and my father goes, at night,
- to show to my people the mass of different(?) fish
- by the lamp of the firm boats that have borne the wave desert of the vast(?) sea,
- and my mother is immersed with [her] companions
- in praising [and] worshipping[FNote_93] the big ghat with [its] fearful spirit there,
- and you,
- if you were to stroke [her] brilliant forehead with honey-scented hair
- [and] abide in sweet sleep
- on [her] bosom with breasts bulged as the buds of the Koṅku,
- [you would have to] come [now][FNote_94], in order to go after you have united with [her],
- to the cool Puṉṉai grove covered in flowers,
- by the lane of white sand with pear trees that have expanded for the bees to come.
