• It is full of laughter indeed, friend,
• this noisy village that looks at me too,
• looking at the gold-like fine pollen
• of the Puṉṉai tree with bent trunk that stands in the garden,
• joined with the Ñāḻal tree, united with the Tāḻai tree
• with thorny long fronds on which birds have taken [their] seat,
• many together, after having stirred the fish-reeking dark backwaters.
• Befittingly(?),
• when [I] mounted the heaped sand with [my] garlanded companions,
• when [I] was immersed in play in the seashore grove full of blossoms,
• someone came, impelling [his] firm chariot to hasty motion,
• adorned [me] - without taking [my permission!(?)][FNote_66] - while [my] braids were hanging down [my] back,[FNote_67]
• with a chaplet full of bees, that had come onto the buds [and] moved [them],
• of the bright-flowered blue water-lily thickly grown in the cool pond,
• looked at [my] young breasts that are coming out well, thought long
