- Even when the quick fish are swelling in the dark backwaters of the long water,
- the sea having ceased singing(?), the boats having left,
- even if hot-mouthed women are spreading scandal,
- repeatedly(?) he is coming indeed, the man from the coast of dewy water,
- as one who does not depart from our side even at midday,
- while [his] long chariot with glorious jewels is standing in delay.
- Now,[FNote_14]
- without saying "who [is] he to us, the one who does not come,
- having swum passion difficult to unite[FNote_15], so that it departs?",
- going secretly to the unhappy old village,
- what if you said, bard:
- "what shall I do with the young woman of bright forehead,
- who hides that [her] eyes give water in abundance,
- [expressing]: 'look at the Aṉṟil's, with drooping beak in the palmyra trees
- joining the house, not sleeping at night even if separated once(?) from [its] mate'?"
