• O soft man from the sea, where the birds talk on [their] seats
• in the big branches on the broad base of the limping(?) aging Puṉṉai tree
• on which the soft buds have withered as if stars were seen
• subjected to(?) rain in the extension of the sky ocean(?)[FNote_2],
• when you considered separating,
• so that [her] water-lily collyrium eyes dim sorrowfully(?),
• you started something very difficult indeed
• for her integrity, like wealthy Toṇṭi,
• where the fishermen with new nets, who had gone in [their] old boats
• through the dunes, where the ocean is breaking in brilliant waves with the east wind,
• are distributing in the villages fragrant with scent
• the pillage of the sword-fish on the settling shore in the high sand.
