These ten verses are the speech of the foster-mother who tries
to console her daughter who suffers having fallen in love with
the lord. This is akapporuḷ.
- 1. vaṇṇamum vaṭivum ceṉṟu kaṇṭilaḷ;
- (This girl) has not gone and seen the (lord's) colour and
form.
- _eṇṇi nāmaṅkaḷ _ētti niṟaintilaḷ;
- she has not attained peace of mind by meditating upon him and
chanting his names (she is not content with the twin acts of
meditation and chanting of his names)
- kaṇ _ulām poḻil cūḻ kaḻippālai _em_aṇṇalē [[A1]]
- _ivaḷ taṉmai [*ē*]! [[A3]]
- _aṟivāṉ, [[A2]]
- only the exalted one in Kaḻippālai which is surrounded by
spacious gardens can know his daughter's nature
- 2.maruntu (* uṇṭu *) vāṉavar _uyya
- in order that celestial beings may survive by partaking of
nectar.

- _iruntavaṉ [[B4]],
- one who was without any bad effects after having drunk the
poison with pleasure,
- kaḻippālaiyuḷ _empirāṉ,
tiruntu cēvaṭi cintaiyuḷ vaittu,
- thinking in her mind about the perfect feet, of our lord in
Kaḻippalai,
- parintu _uraikkilum, [[C2]]
- _ivaḷ, [[C1]]
- _eṉ col paḻikkum [*ē*]. [[C3]]
- If I tell her the means of removing her distress speaking
affectionately this girl ridicules my words.
- 3.maḻalaitāṉ varac
- speaking only lisping words that come out of her mouth.
- col-terikiṉṟilaḷ;
- she does not know other words to express her minds.
- kuḻaliṉ nēr moḻi kūṟiya kēṇmiṉ [*ō*];
- (Ladies!) Please hear what the girl who speaks sweet words
like the music of the flute, said.
- _aḻakaṉē! kaḻippālai _em _aṇṇalē!
- ! - oh beautiful one! exalted god in Kaḻippālai!
- (* eṉai *) _ikaḻvatō,
- is it right on your part to neglect me?
- _eṉai? _ēṉṟukoḷ! _eṉṉum [*ē*].
- she says `Please accept me (as your devotee!)
- [The rhyme (etukai) in this verse is noteworthy]
- 4.ceyyamēṉi veṇnīṟu _aṇivāṉtaṉai
maiyal _āki,
- having infatuation of love with the god who smears white ash
on his red form.

- she does not mind anyone.
- kai koḷ veṇmaḻuvaṉ,
- one who has a white fire in his hand.
- kaḻippālai _em _aiyaṉē
- only the lord in Kaḻippālai.
- _ivaḷ taṉmai [*ē*] [[E2]]
- _aṟivāṉ [[E1]]
- can know this girl's nature.
- 5.karuttaṉai,
- one who is in the minds of people.
- kaḻippālaiyuḷ mēviya _oruttaṉai,
- the unequalled one in Kaḻippalai.
- _umaiyāḷ _orupaṅkaṉai,
- one who has Umayāḷ on one half
- _aruttiyāl ceṉṟu kaṇṭiṭa vēṇṭum _eṉṟu
- thinking with desire; `I must go and see him personally.'
- _orutti [*y*]ār _uḷam _ūcal (_atu) {V-}_āṭumē{-V}.
- the mind of one girl which is full of love, is going forwards
and backwards like a swing.
- [The desire to see god drags her
forward; but the shyness due to the derision of others pushes her
back].
- 6.kaṅkaiyaic caṭai vaittu
- Having placed Kaṅkai in the matted locks of hair.
- malaimakaḷ
naṅkaiyai _uṭaṉē vaitta {V-} maṇāḷaṉār {-V},
- he is the bride-groom who kept by his side a lady who is the
daughter of the mountain.
- tiṅkaḷcūṭi, tiruk kaḻippālaiyāṉ,
- the lord in Tirukkaḻippalai and is wearing the crescent.
- _iṅku vantiṭum _eṉṟu _iṟumākkumē.
- she feels proud that he would definitely come to her
(searching for her).
- 7._aiyaṉē!
- Lord!
- _aḻakē!
- the very embodiment of beauty!
- _aṉal _ēntiya kaiyaṉē!
- one who holds in his hand fire!
- mai _ulām poḻil cūḻ kaḻippālai {V-} uḷ {-V} _aiyaṉē,
- the lord in Kaḻippālai surrounded by gardens on which clouds
traverse.
- vitiyē,
- one who ordains everything!
- _aruḷ! _eṉṉum [*ē*].
- she says, Bestow grace on me!
- 8.pattarkaṭku _amutu_āya parattiṉai,
- The supreme one who is as sweet as nectar to his devotees.
- muttaṉai,
- one who is free from all bondage naturally.
- muṭivu _oṉṟu _ilā mūrttiyai,
- the one who assumed a form for which there is no end.
- _attaṉai,
- the father
- _aṇi _ār kaḻippālai _em cittaṉai
- our lord who is capable of performing miracles and who is in
Kaḻippālai which has great beauty
- [cittaṉ: cittu + aṉ: the knowledge itself]
- [cittam: mind; cittaṉ: one who is in my mind]
- ceṉṟu cērumā(*ṟu*) ceppumē!
- she talks about going and joining him.
- 9. [[This verse has been lost]]
- 10.poṉ cey mā muṭi vāḷ _arakkaṉ talai-
_añcum nāṉkum _oṉṟu(m) _iṟuttāṉ_avaṉ
- she who knocked out the ten heads of arakkaṉ who has a sword
and big crowns of gold.
