{$} நொடித்தான் மலை உத்தமன்
The supreme God who is possessed of all moral attributes who dwells in Noṭittāṉmalai
தான் எனை முன்படைத்தான்
himself caused me to be form[ed] in this world, first.
அது அறிந்து தன் பொன் அடிக்கே நான் என் (1) பாடல் அந்தோ
knowing that hint of creating me, did I compose verses to praise his golden feet, alas! (though I did not do so)
நாயினேனைப் பொருட் படுத்து
having esteemed me who is as mean as a dog, (unworthy of receiving his grace) and including me in the company of devotees.
வானை எனை வந்து எதிர்கொள்ள
the celestials to receive me appearing before me.
மத்தயானை அருள்புரிந்து (1)
granting me a frenzied elephant as a vehicle.
(2) ஊன் உயிர் வேறு செய்தான்
he elevated my body and life within it. How great was his grace!

{$} ஊனை உயிர் வெருட்டி ஒள்ளியானை நினைத்திருந்தேன்
I was always meditating upon Civaṉ who is embodiment of pure knowledge having kept under control my organs of senses and intellectual powers.
நொடித்தான் மலை உத்தமன்
(even for that small thing) [[see 1st verse]]
வானை மதித்த அமரர் வலஞ்செய்து எனை ஏற வைக்க ஆனை அருள் புரிந்தான்
granted me an elephant for the immortals who consider heaven as great, to go from left to right, and to place me on that.
ஆனை உரித்த பகை அடியேனொடு மீளக் கொலோ
whether that act was due to his grace bestowed on that animal on account of me to remove the long standing enmity caused by flaying an elephant in the past or whether it is due to his benign grace bestowed on me (I do not know)

{$} நெஞ்சமே
my mind!
மந்திரம் ஒன்று அறியேன்
I do not know even a single mantiram of the Vētam-s.
மனைவாழ்க்கை மகிழ்ந்து
rejoicing in the family life and being confounded.
அடியேன்
I his slave.
சுந்தர வேடங்களால் துரிசே செய்யும் தொண்டன்
myself, a devotee who committed crimes by putting on beautiful forms, without desiring the services of devotees.
எனை அந்தரம் மால் விசும்பில் அழகு ஆனை அருள்புரிந்தும் தரமோ
is it a fitting action considering my lowness, for god to grant me a beautiful elephant that can travel in the sky of great space?

{$} வாழ்வை உகந்த நெஞ்சே
my mind which esteemed wordly life!
மடவார் தங்கள் வல்வினைப்பட்டு ஆழம் முகந்த என்னை அதுமாற்றி
changing me from the state of being sunk deep being caught in the irresistible acts of women.
அமரர் எல்லாம் சூழ அருள்புரிந்து
granting his grace to make all the immortals to surround me.
தொண்டனேன் பரம் அல்லது ஒரு வேழம் அருள்புரிந்தான்
granted me an elephant which I his devotee, am not fit to receive.
நொடித்தான் மலை உத்தமன்

{$} மண் உலகிற் பிறந்து நும்மை வாழ்த்தும் விழிஅடியார் பொன்(5) உலகம் பெறுதல் தொண்டனேன் இன்று கண்டொழிந்தேன்
I your servant definitely realised the fact before my eyes that the hereditary devotees who say benediction to you though born in this earth, attain heaven which is golden, which fact was only hearsay till now.
விண்உலகத்தவர்கள் விரும்ப வெள்ளை யானையின் மேல் என் உடல் காட்டுவித்தான்
showed my body on a white elephant for even the celestials of heaven to wish for it, and witness that
நொடித்தான் மலை உத்தமன்

{$} (1) அஞ்சினை ஒன்றி நின்று
to set one's organs of sense on one object.
(1) அலர் கொண்டு அடி சேர்வு அறியா வஞ்சனை என் மனமே வைதி
seated in my deceptive mind only which does not know meditating on his feet scattering flowers at them.
வான நல் நாடர் முன்னே
in the presence of the celestials of heaven.
துஞ்சுதல் மாற்றுவித்து
removing death in my case
தொண்டனேன் பரம் அல்லது ஒரு வெஞ்சின ஆனை தந்தான்
granted me a cruel and angry elephant which is not fit for me who is his servant

{$} விண்நிலைகெட அதிர
the heaven to quake as its position is endangered.
நிலம் எங்கும் அதிர்ந்து அசைய
the earth to quake and move in all places.
மலையிடை யானை ஏறி வழியே வருவேன் எதிரே
infront of me who was coming on my way riding on an elephant which wanders in the mountain

அலைகடலால் அரையன்
the King of the ocean which is always moving.

அலர் கொண்டு முன்வந்து இறைஞ்ச
to pay homage to me with flowers coming in front of me.

granted me a higher state in which my body did not perish.

{$} அர ஒலி, ஆகமங்கள் அறிவார் அறிதோத்திரங்கள் விரவிய வேதஒலி, விண் எலாம் வந்து எதிர்ந்து இசைப்ப
the sound of the name arakara, the sound of ākamaṅkaḷ, the sound of songs of praise which were sung by intelligent people and the sound of the vētam-s which were of many kinds, to reverberate throughout the sky filling it completely.
வரம் மலி வாணன்
vāṇaṉ who has excessive eminence
வந்து வழிதந்து
came before me and showing the way.
எனக்கு ஏறுவது ஓர் சிரம் மலி யானை தந்தான்
and granted me an eminent elephant to ride upon.

{$} இந்திரன் மால் பிரான் எழில்ஆர் மிகு தேவர் எல்லாம்
all including intiraṉ, Māl Piramaṉ and the celestials who have excessive beauty.
வந்து எதிர்கொள்ள (1) என்னை
to receive me leaving their places and coming before me.
மத்தயானை அருள் புரிந்தான்
granted a frenzied elephant.
மந்திரமா முனிவர் இவன் யார் என
when the sage who chant mantirams, questioned him who is this person
எம் பெருமான்
my god.
நம் தமர் ஊரன் என்றான்
replied he is our friend; his name is ārūraṉ

{$} ஊழிதொறு ஊழிமுற்றும் உயர் பொன் நொடித்தான் மலையை
upon the mountain which grows taller in every aeon and which is the seat of Civaṉ, the destroyer, and golden in colour.
ஏழ் இசையின் தமிழால் இசைந்து ஏத்திய பத்தினையும்
all the ten songs which praised being united in the Lord, in sweet tamiḻ which has seven musical notes, found in musical works.
சூழ் இசையின் கரும்பின் சுவை நாவல் ஊரன் சொன்ன
composed by me, who is a native a nāvalur, which songs have fame that surrounds them, and are as sweet as the juice of the sugar-cane.
ஆழிகடல் அரையா
the Lord of the deep ocean!
அஞ்சையப்பர்க்கு அறிவிப்பதே
Let you inform the father in Tiru Añcaikkaḷam.
