{$} அந்தணர் நான்மறைக்கு இடம் ஆய வேள்வியுள் நம்பினார்க்கு அருள் செய்யும்
Civaṉ who grants his grace to those who worship you with piety in the sacrifice performed by brahmins and which is mentioned in the four Vētam-s!
செம்பொன்நேர்மடவார் அணிபெற்ற திருமிழலை
in tirumiḻalai which is adorned by ladies who are as beautiful as the red tirumakal.
உம்பரார்தொழுது ஏத்த மாமலையாளொடும்(ம்) உடனே உறைவிடம் அம்பொன் வீழிகொண்டீர்
you occupied the beautiful shade of vīḻi as your abode along with the daughter of the big mountain, to be worshipped with joined hands and praised by the tevars in heaven.
அடியேற்கும் அருளுதிர்
you grant your grace to me also, your slave.

{$} விடம்கொள் மாமிடற்றீர்
one who has a black neck which swallowed the poison?
வெள்ளைச்சுருள் ஒன்று இட்டுவிட்டகாதினீர் என்று
praising, you as one who has on one ear mens' ear-ring made of conch, hanging.
திடம்கொள் சிந்தையினார் கலிகாக்கும் திருமிழலை
in tirumiḻai where brahmins who have a firm mind protect the world from poverty,
மடங்கல்பூண்டவிமானம் மண்மிசைவந்து இழிச்சிய வானநாட்டையும் அடங்கல் வீழிகொண்டீர்
you occupied the shade of the vīḻi plant which contained within it the heaven which caused to decend on this early a vīmāṉam which was supported by lions.

அடியேற்கும் அருளுதிர்
you grant your grace to me also, your slave.

{$} ஊனைஉற்றஉயிர் ஆயினீர்
one who is the life in the body!
ஒளிமூன்றுமாய்
being the three lights (sun, moon and the fire)
தெளிநீரோடு ஆன் அஞ்சின்தேனை ஆட்டு உகந்தீர்
you desired being bathed in clear water, five products of the cow and honey between them
செழுமாடத்திருமிழலை
in tirumiḻalai which has wealthy mansions.
மானைமேவிய கையினீர்
one who has a deer in the hand!
மழு ஏந்தினீர்
one who holds a battle-axe!
மங்கைபாகத்தீர்
one who has on one half a lady
விண்ணில் ஆன விழிகொண்டீர்
you occupied the shade of vīḻi which grew tall and rose into the sky.

{$} பந்தம் வீடு இவை பண்ணினீர்
you created bondage and liberation for the souls.
படிறீர்
though you created them you conceal yourself from them; therefore you are deceitful.
மதிப்பிதிர்க்கண்ணியீர்
you wear a chaplet of a crescent
என்று
praising you in this manner.
சிந்தை செய்திருக்கும் செங்கையாளர் திருமிழலை
in tirumiḻalai where people with good conduct meditate on you always.
நாள்தொறும் வந்து நாடகம் வான நாடியர் ஆட
the divine damsels descend down and perform dances, daily.
மால் அயன் ஏத்த
Māl and Ayaṉ to praise you.
அம்தண் வீழிகொண்டீர்
you occupied the cool shade of the beautiful vīḻi.
அடியேற்கும் அருளுதிர்

{$} புரிசை மூன்றையும் பொன்றை
to destroy completely the three forts.
குன்றவில் ஏந்தி
holding the bow of a mountain.
வேதப்புரவித்தேர்மிசைத்திரிசெய்
you changed them into ash, standing on a chariot drawn by horses which were vētams.
நான்மறையோர் சிறந்து ஏத்தும் திருமிழலை
in tirumiḻalai where brahmins who have learnt the four vetams praise you in an extra-ordinary manner.
பரிசினால் அடிபோற்றும் பத்தர்கள் பாடி ஆடப்பரிந்து நல்கினீர்
you granted with love all the wishes of those pious people who praised your feet with love and sang and danced out of joy.
அரிய வீழிகொண்டீர்
you occupied the shade of the rare vīḻi.

{$} எறிந்த சண்டி இடந்த கண்ணப்பன் (1) ஏத்துபத்தர்கட்கு ஏற்றம் நல்கினீர்
you granted pre-eminence to pious persons like caṇṭi who cut off the leg of his father and Kaṇṇappaṉ who scooped his eye.
செறிந்த பூம்பொழில் தேன்துளிவீசும் திருமிழலை
in tirumiḻalai where the dense flower gardens spray drops of honey.
நிறைந்த அந்தணர் நித்தம் நாள்தொறும் நேசத்தால் உமைப்பூசிக்கும் இடம் அறிந்து
knowing the place where the brahmins full of knowledge daily worship you permanently, with love.
வீழிகொண்டீர்
you occupied the shade of vīḻi.
அடியேற்கும் அருளுதிர்
grant you grace to me also who is your slave.

{$} பணிந்த பார்த்தன் பகீரதன் பல பத்தர் சித்தர்க்குப் பண்டு நல்கினீர்
you granted your grace to many pious people, persons with miraculous powers, beginning with pārttaṉ and pakīrataṉ, in the distant past.
திணிந்த மாடம் தொறும் செல்வம்மல்கு திருமிழலை
in tirumiḻalai where wealth increases in every mansion which is being close to each other.
தணிந்த அந்தணர் நாடொறும் சந்தி அந்திவான் இடும் பூச்சிறப்பு அவை அணிந்து
having adorned the superior decoration with flowers during morning, midday and evening daily by brahmins who have tranquility of mind.
வீழிகொண்டீர்
you occupied the shade of vīḻi.
அடியேற்கும் அருளுதிர்
you grant your grace to me also, your slave.

{$} ஊரிடைப்பலிபற்றி
receiving alms in the villages
பரந்த பாரிடம் பாத்து உணும் சுற்றம் ஆயினீர்
you have the relation of pūtam with which you share it.
தெரிந்த நான்மறையோர்க்கு இடம் ஆய திருமிழலை இருந்து
residing in tirumiḻai, which is the place for brahmins who have made researches into the four vētam-s.
நீர்தமிழோடு இசை கேட்கும் இச்சையால் காசு நித்தல் நல்கினீர்
you daily gave money in the form of coins wishing to hear tamiḻ verses and music.
[[This refers to the story of Civaṉ giving money to campantar and nāvukkaracar during a famine in this shrine.]]
அருந்தண்வீழிகொண்டீர்
you occupied the shade of cool and rare vīḻi.

{$} தூயநீர் அமுது ஆயவாறு அதுசொல்லுக என்று (1) உமை கேட்க
when Umai questioned you please tell me how pure water became like nectar to you.
சொல்லினீர்
you replied to her.
தீ (2) அருக்குலையாளர் செழுமாடத்திருமிழலை
in tirumiḻalai which has flourishing storeys belonging to brahmins of big crowds who maintain the sacrificial fires without extinguishing.
மேய நீர்பலி (3) ஏற்றது என் என்று விண்ணப்பம் செய்பவர்க்கு மெய்ப்பொருள் ஆயவீழிகொண்டீர்
you occupied vīḻi which is the true object for those who respectfully represented to you why did you who is loved by all receive alms.
அடியேற்கும் அருளுதிர்
you grant your grace to me also who is your slave.

{$} வேதவேதியர் வேதநீதியது ஓதுவார்விரிநீர் மிழலையுள் ஆதி வீழிகொண்டீர் அடியேற்கும் அருளுக என்று
petitioning to Civaṉ in miḻalai of expansive water where brahmins who have studied the vētams and observe the conduct laid down in them, you occupied the shade of the old vīḻi grant your grace to me also who is your slave.
நாதகீதம் வண்டு ஓதுவார்பொழில் நாவலூரன் வன்தொண்டன் நற்றமிழ் பாதம் ஓதவல்லார் பரனோடு கூடுவரே
those who can sing the faultless tamiḻ verses at the feet of Civaṉ, which were composed by vaṉṟoṇṭaṉ, and a native of nāvalūr which has tall gardens in which bees hum sweet songs, will be united with the supreme Civaṉ.
