தடஞ்சுனை நீர்களைப் பருகி
drinking the water in several big mountain springs.
பூ மாமரம் உரிஞ்சி

going through the denseness of those trees.

the mountain called Cīparppatam is the mountain of Civaṉ, where in the shade of the sweet mango-groves, they sleep.

மலைச்சாரலும் பொழிற்சாரலும் புறமே வரும் இனங்கள் மலைப்பாற் கொணர்ந்து
catching the herds of elephants that come from beyond the sides of the mountains and the gardens.
இடித்து ஊட்டிட
feed them reproving them sharply.
மயங்கித் தம் (1) களிற்றை அழைத்து ஓடியும்
the female elephants being perturbed in mind run in search of their males uttering a loud cry.
பிளிறீ அலமந்து வந்து எய்த்து
roar, get confounded return back exhausted (பிளிறீ-பிளிறி the lengthening of the letter is for rhythm)
திகைத்து ஓடி
run not knowing what to do.
தம்பிடி (1) தேடிடும் சீபர்ப்பதமலையே
cīparpparpatamalai is the place of Civaṉ where the female elephants search for their male elephants.

புனம் காவல் மடமொழியாள் மன்னிப் புனம் காக்க
the girls who speak words of simplicity whose duty is to keep over the millet-farm to do that duty without a break.
கன்னிக் கிளி வந்து கவைக் கோலிக் கதிர்கொய்ய
when the young parrots come and take away the ears of corn which sprout from the forked stem.
என்னைக் கிளி மதியாது என்று கவண் எடுத்து ஒலிப்ப
when she makes a sound with the sling, saying these parrots do not pay heed to my words.
(1) தெள் நற்கிளி திரிந்து ஏறிய சீபர்ப்பத மலையே
cīparppatamalai where the beautiful and good parrots change their minds and fly from the farm, is the place of our Civaṉ.

மை ஆர் தடங்கண்ணாள் மடமொழியாள் புனங்காக்க
when the girls of beautiful words and big eyes coated with collyriyam guard the millet farm.
செவ்வே திரிந்து
wandering well all over the farm.
ஆயோ எனப் (1) போகாவிட விளிந்து
getting angry as they did not leave the farm by uttering the word, ayō (āyō): exclamatory expression intended to scare away birds from preying on the ripe corn and used by the women folk of the hilly tracts who usually guard millet fields on the mountain sides,

தன்பிடி
and the herd of their female elephants
சூழலில் திரிய
when they wandered in many places the slopes.
இரிந்து ஓடி
and run helter skelter.
தானப்பிடி செவி தாழ்த்திட
the female elephants droop their ears to listen attentively, as they could not see the herd of male elephants.
அதற்கு மிக இரங்கி
taking much pity for that state.
மானக் குற அடல் வேடர்கள் இலையால் கலை கோலி
the hunters who belong to the strong and heroic Kuṟavar tribe make plates of leaves seen together like a cup.
தேனைப் பிழிந்து இனிது ஊட்டிடும் சீபர்ப்பத மலையே
cīrparppatamalai where the feed them with pleasure, with honey squeezed from the honey-combs and pouring it into them, is the place of Civaṉ.

மாற்றுக் களிறு அடைந்தாய் என்று
saying to its female elephants you had union with a different male elephant.
தழல் உமிழ்ந்தும்
scattering from its eyes sparks of five denoting anger.

pouring the kinds of fluid of must

the female elephant telling its male I could not brook this injust accusation.
அயல் அறியத் தேற்றி
clarifying its fidelity to be known to others who are near at hand.
பிடி குளறும் சீபர்ப்பதமலையே
Cīparppatamalai where the female elephants swears and join its male, is the place of Civaṉ

will not our relatives be angry with us if you come always and eat the ears of corn?
இப்போது உமக்கு (2) இதுவே தொழில் என்று ஓடி
running saying now this is the thing that I should do.
அக்கிளியைச் செப்பு ஏந்து இளமுலையாள் ஏறி சீபர்ப்பதமலையே
cīparppatamalai where the young girls with raised and young breasts hits with stones hurled from the sling those parrots, is the place of Civaṉ.

திரியும் புரம் நீறு ஆக்கிய செல்வன் தன் கழலை அரிய திருமாலோடு அயன் தானும் (ம்) அவர் அறியார்
tirumāl who is difficult to be approached by others and Ayaṉ (Piramaṉ) do not know the feet (and head) of the god who reduced to ashes the wandering cities.
கரியின் இனமோடும் பிடி தேன் உண்டவை களித்துத் திரிதந்திவை திகழ்வால் பொலி சீபர்ப்பதமலையே
cīparppatamalai is the place of Civaṉ where the female elephants drinking the honey along with the herd of male elephants wander with joy; it shines with the brilliance of those elephants.

ஏனத்திரள் கிளைக்க எரிபோல மணி சிதற
as the wild hog roots up, the gems scatter like fire.
ஏனல்(ல்) அவை மலைச்சாரலில் திரியும் கரடீயும் மானும் மரை இனமும் மயில் மற்றும் பல எல்லாம்
the bears which flee from the slopers of the mountain where millet is grown, deer, herd of indian elk, peacock and all other living beings (கரடீ-கரடி the lengthening of the letter is for rhythm).
தேன் உண் பொழில் சோலை மிகு சீபர்ப்பதமலையே
cīparppatamalai where they drink the honey in flower gardens and other gardens which are in plenty, is his hill.

nampirārūraṉ, a native of nāvalūr which has fertile fields and where many good people live.
செல்லல் உறல் அரிய சீபர்ப்பத மலையை
about the hill, cīparppatam which is difficult to be reached.
அல்லல் (அவை) தீரச் சொன தமிழ் மாலைகள் வல்லார்
those who are able to recite the garlands of tamiḻ which he composed to remove the sufferings of devotees.
ஒல்லை செல உயர் வானகம் ஆண்டு அங்கு இருப்பாரே
in a short time, they will rule over the heaven and dwell there.
