{$} மின்னு மா மேகங்கள் பொழிந்து
after the sable clouds which emit lightning pour down rains heavily
(1) வெடிபட அருவி இழிந்து
the water collects into streams and descends from the tops of mountains with a great noise.
திரை கொணர்ந்து கரையொடும் ஏற்றும்
brings the waves that are brought by them to dash against the banks
அன்னம் ஆம் காவிரி (2) அகன்கரை உறைவார்
Civaṉ who dwells in the broad banks of the Kāviri where there are swans
அடியினை தொழுது எழும் அன்பர் ஆம் அடியார் சொன்னவாறு அறிவார்
who knows the wants of those loving devotees who worship his feet and then wake up from sleep, and fulfills them.
துருத்தியார் வேள்விக்குடியுளார் அடிகளை
who is in Turutti and Vēḷvikkuṭi
எம் பெருமானை
Our god
என் உடம்பு அடும்பிணி இடர் கெடுத்தானை
who cured me of the suffering caused by the disease which afflicted my body.
செடியனேன் நாயேன் நான் மறக்குமாறு என்னை
How can I who have all faults and as low as the dog forget him?

{$} கூடும் ஆறு உள்ளன கூடியும்
joining with rivers that are fit to join it.
கோத்தும்
swollen with floods so that the difference in colour may not be visible
கொய்புன ஏனலோடு ஐவனம் சிதறி
and scattering paddy grown on mountain along with the millet in the farm, fit for harvest.
மாடு மா கோங்கமே மருதமே பொருது
and breaking mango tree, common caung and flowering murdah on both sides.
மலையெனக் குலைகளை மறிக்குமாறு உந்தி
pushing out waves like mountains to break to pieces the banks
ஓடுமாகாவிரித்துருத்தியார் வேள்விக்குடியுளார் அடிகளை
Civaṉ who is in Vēḷvikkuṭi and Turutti on the banks of the great flowing Kāviri
எம்பொருனை
our god
பழவினை உள்ளன பற்று அறுத்தானை
who completely destroyed the old Karmam that exists.
செடியனேன் நாயேன் நான்
I, who am full of faults and as low as the dog
பாடுமாறு அறிகிலேன்
am incapable of singing his praises

{$} கொல்லுமால் யானையின் கொம்பொடுவம்பு ஆர் கொழுங்கனிச் செழும்பயன் கொண்டு கூட்டு எய்திப் போந்து
Having gathered in a sweep the fertile products of luseious and sweet smelling fruits along with the tusks of big elephants capable of killing, and coming to the plains.
புல்கியும் தாழ்ந்தும்
circumambulating and bowing
தவம் செய்யும் போகரும் யோகரும் புலரிவாய் மூழ்கச் செல்லுமா காவிரித்துருத்தியார் வேள்விக்குடியுளார் அடிகளை
the god who is in Vēḷvikkuṭi and in Turutti which are situated on the bank of the great kāviri which flows so that the house-holders and those who practise yōkam may bathe in the early morning before sunrise.

தொடர்ந்து அடும் கடும் பிணித் தொடர்வு (1) அறுத்தானை
who completely cut off the connection of the acute disease which afflicted me since a long time
செடியனேன் நானேன் சொல்லுமாறு அறிகிலேன்
I, who am full of faults and as low as the dog, am incapable of praising him adequately.

{$} பொழிந்து இழிந்து அறுவிகள் பொறியும் மா சந்தனத்துண்ட மோடு அகிலும்
the streams that descend down after heavy downpour of rain carrying forward big logs of sandal trees of rough cracked surface, and eagle-wood.
புன்புலம் கவர
and submerge under water the dry lands.
கறியும் மாமிளகொடு கதலியும் உந்தி
pushing the plaintain trees and big pepper creepers which have a pungent taste.
கடலுறவளைப்பதே கருதி
thinking only of supplying them to the sea.
தன் கை போய்
and overflowing on both its banks.
எறியு மா காவரித் துருத்தியார் வேள்விக் குடியுள்ளார் அடிகளை
the god who is Vēḷvikkuṭi and Turutti on the banks of the great Kāviri which huris waves
எம்பெருமானை
our God, Civaṉ
அருவினை உள்ளன ஆசு அறுத்தானை
who removed quickly the irresistible Karmam that are with me
செடியனேன் நாயேன் அறியுமாறு அறிகிலேன்
I being full of faults, who am as low as the dog, do not know how to know him properly

{$} பொழிந்து இழி மும்மதக் களிற்று இனம் மருப்பும் பொன்மலர் வேங்கையின் நன்மலர் உந்தி
pushing out the beautiful flowers of east indian kino-tree which blossoms like gold and the collections of tusks of male elephants from which the three musts descend pouring forth.
இழிந்து இழிந்து அருவிகள் கடும்புனல் ஈண்டி
the water flowing swiftly in the many streams which descend often
எண் திசையோர்களும் இங்கேவந்து ஆட
to be helpful to the people in the eight quarters to come here and bathe.
சுழிந்து இழி காவிரித்துருத்தியார் வேள்விக்குடியுளார் அடிகளை
the god in Vēḷvikkuṭi and Turutti on the bank of the great Kāviri which flows forming eddies
எம் பெருமானே
our god
உற்றநோய் இற்றையே உற ஒழித்தானை
who cured me completely of the disease which I had, this day itself
செடியனேன் நாயேன் பிதற்றுமாறு ஒழிந்திலேன்
I full of blemishes, and as low as the dog, did not cease from prating his names in several ways.

{$} புகழும் மாசந்தனத்துண்டமோடு அகிலும் பொன் மணிவரன்றியும் நன் மலர் உந்தி
scrapes gold, precious stones, logs of eagle-word and sandal wood which is of great value and praised by all, and pushes out beautiful flowers.
அகழுமா அருங்கரை வளம் படப்பெருகி
swollen with floods to increase the fertility of the strong banks which are being eroded by it.
ஆடுவார் பாவம் தீர்த்து
removing the sins of bathers
அஞ்சனம் அலம்பி
and washing the colliriyum from their eyes
திகழும் மா காவிரித் துருத்தியார் வேள்விக்குடியுளார் அடிகளை
the god who is in Vēḷvikkuṭi and Turutti which are on the banks of the great and famous Kāviri.
எம் பெருமானை
our Lord
இழித்த நோய் இம்மையே ஒழிக்கவல்லானை
who is capable of completely curing in this birth itself, the disease which degraded me.
[[It is thought that cuntarar was cured of a cutaneous disease, leprosy, when he bathed in the tank according to the command of Civaṉ, and got back his shining body]]

இகழுமாறு அறிகிலேன்
am incapable of being neligent about him.

{$} வரையின் மாங்கனியொடு வாழையின் கனியும் வருடியும் வணக்கியும் மராமரம் பொருதும்
Having rubbed and bent down the plaintain fruits and the mango fruits that grow in the mountains and breaking the indian oak trees.
கரையும் மா கருங்கடல் காண்பதே கருத்தாய்
with the idea of meeting the big and blue sea which erodes the shore.
காம்பீலி சுமந்து ஒளிர் நித்திலம் கைபோய்
scattering on both the banks shining pearls, carrying bamboos and peacocks feathers.

and the many flocks of birds to have dip and run about in the beautiful banks.
காரும்மா கருங்கடல் காண்பதே கருத்தாய்
with the sole idea of joining the big blue sea full of water.
கவரி மா மயிர் சுமந்து
carrying big yak-tails
ஒண்பளிங்கு இடறி
and breaking bright crystals
தேரும் மா காவிரித் துருத்தியார் வேள்விக்குடியுளார் அடிகளை
the god who is in Vēḷvikkuṭi and Turutti on the bank of the great Kāviri which carries with it the products in all the four regions.
எம் பெருமானை

அம்மை நோய் இம்மையே ஆசு அறுத்தானை
who quickly destroyed the suffering that I shall have to undergo in succeeding births in this birth itself.
செடியனேன் நாயேன்

am incapable of enjoying.

{$} புலங்களை வளம்படப் போக்கு அறப் (1) பெருகி
arriving with freshes, to make the fields fertile, and to remove all defects.
பொன்களே சுமந்து
carrying muggets of gold
இலங்கு மா முத்தினோடு இனமணிஇடறி
and scattering shining big pearls along with other precious stones.
இருகரைப் பெருமரம் (2) வீழ்ந்துகொண்டு ஏற்றி
dashing against the banks to uproot the big trees on both the banks
எங்கும் பூசல்செய்து ஆர்ப்ப
all people in all places to cry loudly to form an uproar.
கலங்கு மா காவிரித்துருத்தியார் வேள்விக்குடியுளார் அடிகளை
the god in Vēḷvikkuṭi and Turutti on the bank of the great Kāviri of turbid water
எம் பெருமானை

மேலை நோய் இம்மையே வீடுவித்தானை
who freed me from the suffering that I shall have to undergo in coming births, in this birth itself.

விலங்குமாறு அறிகிலேன்
am incapable of keeping away from him.

{$} மங்கை ஓர் கூறுஉகந்து
Placing with joy a lady on the left half.
ஏறு உகந்து ஏறி
and riding on a bull with joy.
மாறலார் திரிபுரம் நீறு எழச்செற்ற அங்கையான்
the god who has a palm which burnt the three cities of enemies for the ash to rise from them.
கழல் அடி அன்றி மற்று அறியான்
one who does not know any other thing except the feet wearing anklets (of that god)
அடியவர்க்கு அடியவன்
and who is holy slave of his devotees.
தொழுவன் ஆரூரன்
Ārūraṉ who is his devotee.
கங்கை ஆர் காவிரித் துருத்தியார் வேள்விக் குடியுளார் அடிகளைச் சேர்த்திய பாடல்
the songs that were offered to the god in Vēḷvikkuṭi and Turutti on the bank of Kāviri as famous as the Kaṅkai
கையால் தொழுது
worshipping them with their joined hands
நாவின் மேற்கொள்வார்
those who always repeat these
தவநெறி சென்று
will tread the path of penance

will definitely be rules of the heaven.
