கங்கை வார் சடையாய்
Civaṉ who bears on his long caṭai Kaṅkai.
கணநாதா
the master of the group of pūtam!
காலகாலனே
the god of death to the god of death himself!
காமனுக்கு அனலே
who was the fire that consumed Kāmaṉ!
பொங்குமாகடல் விடம் மிடற்றானே
who has in his neck the poison of the big raging ocean!
பூதநாதனே
the master of all living beings!
புண்ணியா
the embodiment of all virtuous acts!
புனிதா
the pure god!
செங்கண்மால் விடையாய்
who has as the bull Māl who has red eyes!
தெளிதேனே
who is the clear honey without sediments!
தீர்த்தனே
who is the holy waters!
திருவாவடுதுறையுள் அங்கணா
the god with boundless grace who is in Tiruvāvaṭutuṟai!
எனை அஞ்சல் என்று அருளாய்
please comfort me by assuring me Do not be afraid of anything!

ஆர்எனக்கு உறவு
who are my relations except you?
மண்ணின் மேல் மயங்கிக்கிடப்பேனை வலியவந்து எனை ஆண்டு கொண்டானே
Civaṉ who admitted me who lay inactive in this world being bewildered, coming voluntarily towards me!
கண் இலேன்
I lost my eyesight for some time.
உடம்பில் அடுநோயால் கருத்து அழிந்து உனக்கே பொறை ஆனேன்
I become a burden to yourself, my intention being shattered by the physical diseases which afflicted me

தெள் நிலா எறிக்கும் சடையானே
who has a caṭai which spreads clear moonlight!
தேவனே
my Lord!
திருவாவடுதுறையுள் அண்ணலே
the chief who is in tiruvāvaṭutuṟai!
எனை அஞ்சல் என்று அருளாய்
please comfort me by assuring me, Do not be afraid of anything!

ஒப்பிலா முலையாள் ஒருபாகா
Civaṉ who has Umai by name oppilāmulaiyāḷ as a half!

உத்தமா
the superior god!
மத்தம் ஆர் சடையா
who wears datura flowers in his caṭai.
முப்புரங்களைத் தீவளைத்து அங்கே மூவருக்கு அருள் செய்ய வல்லானே
who granted his grace to only three chiefs, when he caused the fire to surround the three cities

செப்ப
in order to initiate the sages into the intricacies of philosophy.
ஆல் நிழல்கீழ் இருந்தருளும் செல்வனே
the god who condescended to sit under the shade of the banyan tree!
திருவாவடுதுறையுள் அப்பனே
my father in tiruvāvaṭutuṟai!
எனை அஞ்சல் என்று அருளாய்
please comfort me by assuring me, Do not be afraid of anything

who are my relations except you?
கொதியினால் வரும் காளிதன்கோபம் குறைய ஆடிய கூத்து உடையானே
Civaṉ who performed a dance to decrease the anger to Kāḷi which was the result of fierceness within her mind!

மதிஇல்லேன் உடம்பில்(ல்) அடுநோயால் மயங்கினேன்
who is without intelligence, became comfounded by the afflicting disease in the body.

God as precious as ruby!
மணவாளா
who is always in the attire of a bridegroom!
விதியினால் இமையோர் தொழுது ஏத்தும் விகிர்தனே
who is different from this world and who is worshipped with joined hands and praised by the celestials who do not wink, in the proper manner!

வழிமுதலே
the origin of the world!
வெந்தவெண்பொடிப் பூசவல்லானே
who smears the white holy ash well-burnt!
வேடனாய் விசயற்கு அருள்புரிந்த இந்துசேகரனே
who adorned your head with the crescent and granted your grace to civayaṉ assuming the form of a hunter!
இமையோர் சீர் ஈசனே
the famous Lord of the tēvar who do not wink.
திருவாவடுதுறையுள் அந்தணா
the brahmin who is in tiruvāvaṭutuṟai
வந்த வாள் அரக்கன் வலி தொலைத்து வாழும் நாள் கொடுத்தாய்
you granted a fresh lease of life after destroying the strength of the cruel arakkaṉ who came to your abode of Kayilai, to remove it from its position.
எனை அஞ்சல் என்று அருளாய்
you comfort me by assuring me, Do not be afraid of anything

I, your slave have no relations except you.

Do you lose anything by forgiving one fault?
சிறைவண்டு ஆர் பொழில்சூழ் திருவாரூர்ச் செம்பொனே
the refined gold in tiruvārūr surrounded by garden in which bees with wings, hum?

the embodiment of righteous acts who is in tiruvāvaṭutuṟai!
எனை அஞ்சல் என்று அருளாய்
please comfort me assuring me, Do not be afraid of anything!

வெய்ய மாகரி ஈர் உரியானே
Civaṉ who has the skin wet with blood, of the big and cruel elephant!
வேங்கை ஆடையினாய்
who dresses himself with the skin of a tiger
விதி முதலே
the chief of positive injunctions to do a thing and that for not doing a thing.
மெய்யனே
who is the truth absolute.
அன்று அரிதான்வேண்ட அடல் ஆழி நீ கொடுத்து அருள்புரி விகிர்தா
who is different from this world and granted your grace by giving a strong discus to Ari when he desired it

செய்யமேனியனே
who has a red form!
திகழ் ஒளியே
who is the brilliant light.
செங்கணா
who has an eye of fire.
திருவாவடுதுறையுள் ஐயனே
the master who is in tiruvāvaṭutuṟai!

comfort me by assuring me, Do not by afraid of anything

கோது இலா அமுதே
Civaṉ who is as sweet as nectar without any sediment!
அருள் பெருகு கோலமே
who has the appearance of increasing benevolence!
இமையோர் தொழுகோவே
the King who is worshipped the immortels who do not wink!
பாதி மாது ஒரு கூறுஉடையானே
who has on one half of his body the part of a lady!
பசுபதீ
the master of all living beings.
பரமா
the supreme god!
பரமேட்டி
the supreme being who is in the most exalted place!
தீதுஇலா மலையே
who is as useful as a mountain without defects
திருவருள்சேர் சேவகா
the hero who is always with benign benevolence!
திருவாவடுதுறையுள் ஆதியே
the primordial thing in tiruvāvaṭutuṟai!
எனை அஞ்சல் என்று அருளாய்
comfort me by assuring me, Do not be afraid of anything.

வான நாடனே
Civaṉ who has the cosmic space as his country!
வழித்துணைமருந்தே
who is the nectar that is the companion who accompanies the soul in its travel to the other world!
மாசிலாமணியே
the ruby that is without any flaw! (This is the name of Civaṉ in this shrine)
மறைப்பொருளே
the meaning of the vētams.
ஏனம் மா எயிறு ஆமையும் எலும்பும் ஈடுதாங்கிய மார்பு உடையானே
who has on his chest the hog's big tusk, the shell of the tortoise and bones as adornments fit to be worn.
தேன் நெய் பால்தயிர் ஆட்டு உகந்தானே
who desired to be bathed in honey, ghee, milk and curd!

who is as majestic as the elephant in tiruvāvaṭutuṟai!
எனை அஞ்சல்' என்று அருளாய்
comfort me by assuring me Do not be afraid of anything!

{$} சிங்கடிஅப்பன்
composed by the father of ciṅkati.
அணுக்கவன்றொண்டன்
who is near to god and has the title of vaṉṟontaṉ
[[Cuntarar belonged to the brahmins as civappirāmaṉar who perform worship in the sanctum.]]
வெண்டலைப் பிறை கொன்றையும் அரவும் வேரி மத்தமும் விரவிமுன் முடித்த இண்டை மாமலர்ச் செஞ்சடையானை
about Civaṉ who has a red caṭai on which he wears a circlet of great flowers and who adorned it with the datura flowers of honey, cobra, koṉṟai, crescent and a white skull.
ஈசனை
and the Lord of the Universe.
திருவாவடுதுறையுள் அண்டவாணனை
the dweller in civalōkam, who is now in tiruvāvaṭutuṟai for saving his devotees'
ஆர்வத்தால் உரைத்த தண்தமிழ் மலர் பத்தும் வல்லார்கள்
those who are capable of reciting the ten flowers of cool tamiḻ, with affection
சாதலும் பிறப்பும் அறுப்பார்
will not die and be born again.
