Civaṉ who is naturally free from all bondage
முத்தி தரவல்ல முகிழ் மென்முலையாள் உமைபங்கா
who has Umai who has soft breasts like the buds of the lotus, and who can grant salvation!,

சித்தா
the mystic who has naturally the eight miraculous powers!
சித்தித் திறம் காட்டும் சிவனே
Civaṉ who shows the path to acquire those eight miraculous powers!
தேவர் சிங்கமே
who is eminent among the celestials like the lion among beasts!
பத்தா
who is affectionate towards his devotees!
பத்தர் பலர் போற்றும் பரமா
the supreme being who is praised by many pious people!
பழையனூர் மேய அத்தா
the chief who desires Paḻaiyaṉūr
ஆலங்காடா
the god in Ālaṅkāṭu!
உன் அடியார்க்கு அடியேன் ஆவனே
definitely I shall always be a slave to your devotees.

{$} பொய்யே செய்து
committing hypocritical acts.
புறம் புறமே திரிவேன் தன்னைப் போகாமே
prohibiting me who was straying far away from him, by those acts.
மெய்யே வந்து இங்கு எனை ஆண்ட மெய்யா
the true god who claimed me as your slave coming into this world and standing in my presence!
மெய்யர் மெய்ப்பொருளே
the true thing for people who are truthful.
பை ஆடு அரவம் அரைக்கு அசைத்த பரமா
the supreme being who tied in the waist a cobra which dances spreading its hood.
பழையனூர் மேய ஐயா
the master who loves Paḻaiyaṉūr!
ஆலங்காடா .... ஆவேனே

{$} தூண்டா விளக்கின் நற்சோதீ
the brilliant light like the lamp that requires no trimming.
தொழுவார் தங்கள் துயர் தீர்ப்பாய்
you remove the afflictions of those who worship you with joined hands.
எலும்பைப் பூண்டாய்
you adorned yourself with bones as ornaments.
புரம் மூன்றும் பொடியாச் செற்ற புண்ணியனே
the embodiment of all virtues, who destroyed all the three cities to be reduced to ash.
பாண்டு ஆழ்வினைகள்(அவை) தீர்க்கும் பரமா
the supreme being who removes the acts done long ago and which are the cause for the soul to sink.
பழையனூர் மேய் ஆண்டா
the god who desires Paḻaiyaṉūr!

{$} நான் மறிநேர் ஒண்கண் மடநல்லார் வலையில்பட்டு மதி மயங்கி அறிவே அழிந்தேன்
I completely lost my intellect as my discernment was confounded, caught in the snare of young women who have bright eyes resembling deer's looks.

மை ஆர் கண்டம் உடையானே
God who has a black neck!
பறியா வினைகள் (அவை) தீர்க்கும் பரமா
the supreme being who destroys the acts which could not be destroyed otherwise.
பழையனூர் மேய அறிவே
the embodiment of true knowledge, who desires Paḻaiyaṉūr.

Civaṉ who is like the ruby!

who is like the pearl!
மரகதமே
who is like the emerald!
பால் (அங்கு) ஆடீ! நெய் ஆடீ!
who bathed in milk; who bathes in ghee!
படர்புன்சடையாய்
who has a spreading red caṭai!
பழையனூர் ஆலங்காடா
who is in Ālaṅkāṭu adjoining Paḻaiyaṉūr!
வேல் (அங்கு)ஆடு தடங்கண்ணார் வலையுட்பட்டு
caught in the snare of women who have big eyes which are like vēl in shape and cruelty.
உன்நெறிமறந்து
forgetting the path shown by you.
மால் (அங்கு) ஆடி மறந்து ஒழிந்தேன்
I completely forgot myself being very much confused.
உன்அடியார்க் ... ஆவேனே

{$} எண்ணார் தங்கள் எயில் எய்த எந்தாய்
my father who shot an arrow on the forts of the enemies!
எந்தை பெருமானே
God of my father also.
கண்ணாய் உலகம் காக்கின்ற கருத்தா
the chief who protects the world being its eye.
திருத்தல் ஆகாதாய்
you who are under no necessity to be reformed
[[you are naturally perfect without any blemish]]
பண் ஆர் இசைகள் (அவை) கொண்டு பலரும் ஏத்தும் பழையனூர் அண்ணா
the elderly god in Paḻaiyaṉūr whom many people praise with musical songs which are set to melody-types!

{$} வண்டு ஆர்குழலி உமைநங்கை பங்கா
Civaṉ who has on one half a lady of distriction, Umai, who has tresses of hair on which the bees hum
[[வண்டு ஆர்குழலி is the name of the goddess in this shrine.]]
கங்கை மணவாளா
the husband of Kaṅkai
விண்டார் புரங்கள் எரிசெய்த விடையாய்
who rode on a bull and burnt the cities of the enemies.
வேத நெறியானே
one who shows the proper path in the vētams.
பண்டு ஆழிவினைகள் பலதீர்க்கும் பரமா
the supreme being who removes many acts done previously and which are the cause for the soul to sink! [[cf. verse 3]]
பழையனூர் மேய அண்டா
the god who desires Paḻaiyaṉūr!
ஆலங்கா ... ஆவேனே

{$} பேழ்வாய் அரவின் அணையானும்
Māl who sleeps on a bed of a serpent with a large mouth.
பெரிய மலர்மேல் உறைவானும்
and Piramaṉ who dwells in a big (lotus) flower.
தாழாது உன்தன் சரண்பணியத் தழலாய் நின்ற தத்துவனே
the ultimate reality who stood as a column of fire, to fall prostrate at your feet without delay.
பாழ்ஆம் வினைகள் அவைதீர்க்கும் பரமா
the supreme being who removes the acts which are the cause for the living beings to waste their lives without any benefit!
பழையனூர் தன்னை ஆள்வாய்
one who rules over Paḻaiyaṉūr!

our Lord!
எந்தை மூத்தப்பன் ஏழ்ஏழ்படிகால் எமை ஆண்ட பெம்மான்
the god who admitted as his slaves for seven generation beginning from my grand father on the father's side and seven generations on my mother's side!
ஈமப் புறங்காட்டில் பேயோடு ஆடல் புரிபவனே
who performs dance in the company of pēys in the cremation ground which has funeral pyres.
பல் மாமலர்கள் (அவை) கொண்டு பலரும் ஏத்தும் பழையனூர் அம்மா
my mother in Paḻaiyaṉūr where many people praise carrying many big flowers in their hands!

{$} பத்தர் சித்தர் பலர் ஏத்தும் பரமன்
the supreme god whom many pious people and those who have aquired miraculous powers praise.
பழையனூர் மேய அத்தன்
the master who desired Paḻaiyaṉūr.
ஆலங்காடன் தன் அடிமைத்திறமே அன்பு ஆகி
having love towards the many kinds of services of slave to the Lord in Ālaṅkāṭu.
சித்தர் சித்தர் வைத்த புகழ்ச்சிறுவன்
the young lady who has such a fame that remains in the minds of even such great people who have aquired miraculous powers.
ஊரன்
who has the name Nampi Ārūraṉ.
ஒண் தழிழ்கள் பத்தும்பாடி ஆடுவார்
those who sing the all the ten graceful verses composed by him, and dance out of joy.
பரமன்(ன்) அடியே பணிவாரே
will live paying homage only to the feet of the supreme god always.
