முதுவாய் ஓரி கதற முதுகாட்டு எரி கொண்டு ஆடல் முயல்வானே
Civaṉ who dances holding fire in the cremation ground when the old aged jackal roars.
மது ஆர் கொன்றைப் புது வீ சூடும் மலையான் மகள்தன் மணவாளா
the husband of the daughter of the mountain, who wears fresh flowers of koṉṟai which are full of honey.
கதுவாய்த் தலையில் பலிநீ கொள்ளக் கண்டால் அடியார் கவலாரோ
will not your devotees be worried in mind when they see you receiving alms in a broken skull.

{$} அச்சம் இல்லாக் கச்சூர் வடபால் ஆலக்கோயில் அம்மானே
our Lord in the temple on the northern side of Kaccūr which does not know fear.
எங்கள் பெருமான்
our Lord.
ஏழேழ் பிறப்பும் எனை ஆள்வாய்
you admitted me as your protege in all the two kinds of seven births.
கச்சு ஏர் அரவு ஒன்று அரையில் அசைத்து
having tied in the waist as a girdle a beautiful cobra.
கழலும் சிலம்பும் கலிக்க
the ornaments, kaḻal and anklet, to produce a sound.
பலிக்கு என்று போது உச்சம் ஆ(க)
at the time when it is noon, to collect alms.
ஊர் ஊர் திரியக் கண்டால் அடியார் உருகாரே
will not the hearts of devotees melt when they see you wandering from place to place.
இச்சை அறியோம்
we do not know your desire.

the beautiful temple.
குறையாக் கோயில்
the temple that has no deficiency.
குளிர்பூங் கச்சூர் வடபாலை ஆலக்கோயில் கல்லால் நிழற்கீழ் (1) அறம் கட்டுரைத்த அம்மானே
the god who expressed distinctly moral instruction under the shade of the banyan tree in ālakkōyil on the northern side of kaccūr which is cool and beautiful!
சாலக் கோயில் உள நின் கோயில்
there are many temples dedicated to you in this earth.
அவை என்தலைமேல் கொண்டாடி
praising them placing them on my head.
மாலைத் தீர்ந்தேன்
I was free from delusion.
வினையும் துரந்தேன்
I drove out all my acts.

Civaṉ who has a vehicle of a bull and a flag on which the form of a bull is drawn, and caṭai!
மின் நேர் உருவத்து ஒளியானே
God who has a body whose lustre is like the lightning!
எங்கும் கடையும் புடைசூழ் மணிமண்டபமும் கன்னிமாடம் கலந்து
having beautiful entrances, beautiful pavilons and storeys which do not know destruction, everywhere (கன்னிமாடம் may also mean residence of virgin ladies).
(1) புடையும் பொழிலும் புனலும் தழுவி
as it is surrounded by gardens and water reservoirs in the adjoining places.
பூமேல் திருமாமகள் புல்கி அடையும் கழனிப் பழனக் கச்சூர் ஆலக்கோயில் அம்மானே
the god in ālakkōyil in Kaccūr which has tanks and fields, where the god of wealth who is seated on a (lotus) flower, never leaving that place!

god who has a black neck!
மாலை மதியே
who is like the moon that rises in the evening.
மலைமேல் மருந்தே
who is like the herb used as a medicine and which grows on the mountain.
வயல் சூழ்ந்த ஆலைக் கழனிப் பழனக் கச்சூர் ஆலக்கோயில் அம்மானே
the god who is in ālakkōyil in Kaccūr which has tanks and places where there are sugar mills surrounded by fields!
அடியேன் மறவேன்
I, you slave, will not forget you.
காலை எழுந்து தொழுவார் தங்கள் கவலைகளைவாய்
you remove the worries of those who rise up in the morning and worship you.

you do not leave being surrounded by pēys.
மறவாய்
you have no forgetfulness.
என்றும் சுடுகாடு இடமாக் கொண்டு நடமாடி
you dance always having as the stage the cremation ground.
கச்சூர் வடபால் ஆலக்கோயில் அம்மானே
the god in ālakkōyil on the northern side of Kaccūr!
ஏறுவாய்த் தலையில் பலிநீ கொள்ளக் கண்டால் அடியார் உருகாரே
will not the hearts of devotees melt when they see you receiving alms in a skull with a broken edge!

Civaṉ who accept as even truth if people praise you insincerely

எங்கள் பெருமான்
our Lord!
மெய்யே உன்னை நினைவார் அவரை நினை (கண்டாய்)
you remember and grant your grace to those who sincerely remember you.
மை ஆர் தடங்கண் (1) மடந்தை பங்கா
God who has as a half a lady who has large eyes coated with collyrium.
(2) கங்கு ஆர் மதியம் சடை வைத்த ஐயா
the master who placed a crescent with two ends on the caṭai.
செய்யாய்
one who is red in colour.
வெளியாய்
one who is white in colour.
கச்சூர் ஆலக்கோயில் அம்மானே
the god in ālakkōyil in Kaccūr!

Civaṉ who wears koṉṟai growing in the forest, which blossoms and spreads its fresh fragrance!
மானைப் புரையும் மடம் மெல் நோக்கி மடவாள் அஞ்ச மறைத்திட்ட ஆனைத் தோலாய்
you who covered with the elephant's skin your body to frighten the beautiful lady who has eyes which resemble the eyes of the deer .... !
ஞானக் கண்ணாய்
you who are the eye of wisdom to living beings!
ஆலக் கோயில் அம்மானே
the god in ālakkōyil (the name of the place is not mentioned in this verse)
ஊனைப் பெருக்கி
increasing the size of the body.
உன்னை நினையாது ஒழிந்தேன்
I completely forgot you.
செடியேன்
I who am low.
உணர்வு இல்லேன்
have no intelligence.

உமையாள் கணவா
the husband of Umayāḷ
ஓதக்கண்டேன் உன்னை மறவேன் எனை ஆள்வாய்
Having learnt about your greatness from great people, I will not forget you; please admit me also among the group of your devotees.
காதல் செய்பு களித்துப் பிதற்றி
prattling your names out of joy being warmly attached to you.
கடி மாமலர் இட்டு
placing big and fragrant flowers at your feet.
உனை ஏத்தி
and praising you.
ஆதல் செய்யும் அடியார் இருக்க
when there are devotees who want to raise themselves are ready to do any service required by you.
ஐயம் கொள்வது அழகிதே
is it fine to receive alms!

those who are able to sing the garland of verses done according to tamiḻ grammar by him have the right to be seated on.
