Civaṉ who has a black neck due to drinking the poison which was black in colour!
வெண்தலை ஓடுகொண்டு ஊர் எலாம் திரிந்து என்செய்வீர்
what would you get wandering in all the villages holding a white skull as a begging bowl?
நீர் பலி ஓரிடத்திலே கொள்ளும்
you receive alms in one place only.
பார் எலாம் பணிந்து உம்மையே பரவிப்பணியும் பைஞ்ஞீலியீர்
Civaṉ who is Paiññīli, to whom only all the people of this world do obeisence and praise and do service!

{$} மலைத்தசந்தொடு வேங்கை கோங்கமும் மன்னுகாரகில் சண்பகம் அலைக்கும் பைம்புனல் சூழ் பைஞ்ஞீலியில் ஆரணீயவிடங்கரே
Āraṇiya vitankar in Paiññīli surrounded by cool water which pushes champak, black eagle-wood tress in plenty, common caung, east indian kino tree and sandal-wood which grow in the mountain!
வெள்ளேறு சிலைத்துநோக்கும்
your bull looks angrily at us bellowing.
செந்தழல் வாயபாம்பது மூசெனும்
the cobra which has in its sac the poison like the red fire makes a hissing noise.

Civaṉ who is known by the name of Āraṇiya viṭaṅkar in Paiññīli surrounded by a verdant garden which has mast wood trees, cool and green delight of the woods, and lotus flowers grawing in the moats into which water flows.

you come and stand before us having on your half a lady of dark and long eyes.

Do you know this house in the night also, having as your business snatching the bangles of the ladies whose tresses of hair have the fragrance of bottle-flower?
இங்கே வந்து போகவும் வல்லிரே
are you capable of going over here and returning?
அரவம் ஆட்டவும் வல்லிரோ
are you capable of causing the cobra to dance?

பத்தர் சித்தர்கள் பாடி ஆடும் பைஞ்ஞீலியேன் என்று நிற்றிர்
you stand before us saying I am a resident of Paiññīli where pious people and mystic persons sing and dance out of joy

you dance for a long time singing in time with the music produced in kuṭamuḻa, kokkarai, callari, kiṇai, takuṇiccam, viṇai, cymbals, taṇṇumai and takkai

பக்கமே குயில் பாடும் சோலைப் பைஞ்ஞீலியேன் என்று நிற்றிர்

Have you adorned yourself with bones and the shell of a tortoise?

and having a cobra in the neck
அவை பின்பு தாழ் மெய் எலாம் பொடிக் கொண்டு பூசுதிர்
you besmear the whole of the body in which they hang low in the back, with holy ash.

கீதமும் பையவே விடங்காக நின்று பைஞ்ஞீலியேன் என்றிர்
you said, I am a resident of Paiññīli' standing before us singing the music composition also slowly and beautifully.

மின்னும் நுண்ணிடை மங்கைமார்பலர் வேண்டிக் காதல் மொழிந்தசொல்
the words expressing love wishing it by many young ladies whose waists are as slender as the lightning that flashes across the sky.
மன்னு தொல்புகழ் நாவலூரன் வன்தொண்டன் வாய்மொழி பாடல்பத்து உன்னி
remembering the ten verses that came from the mouth of Vaṉṟoṇtaṉ a native of Nāvalur which has undying ancient fame.
இன்இசை பாடுவார் உமைகேள்வன் சேவடிசேர்வரே
those who will sing with sweet music will reach ultimately the red feet of Civaṉ, the husband of Umai.
