பொடி ஆர் மேனியனே
Civaṉ who coats the body thickly with the holy ash!
புரிநூல் ஒருபால் மங்கையோடும் பொருந்த
the sacred thread of three strands to rest on one side, with the lady on the other side.
வடிஆர் முத்தலைவேல் வளர் (1) அங்கையில்
one has in his beautiful hand a trident of three sharp blades!
கடி ஆர் கொன்றையனே
one who adorns himself with fragrant koṉṟai flowers!
கடவூர்தனுள் வீரட்டத்து எம்அடிகேள்
our deity in Kaṭavūr Vīraṭṭam!
என் அமுதே
my sweet nectar!
நீ அலது எனக்கு ஆர் துணை
who is my companion except you?

பிரமன் தலையில் பலிகொள் மறைஆர் வானவனே
the god who receives alms in the skull of Piramaṉ and chants the vētams!
மறையின்பொருள் ஆனவனே
one who is the meaning of the vētam!
கறை ஆரும்மிடற்றாய்
one who has a very dark neck!
கடவூர்தனுள் வீரட்டத்து எம் இறைவா
our master in Kaṭavūr vīraṭṭam!
என் அமுதேநீ அலது எனக்கு ஆர்துணை

அன்று ஆலின் நிழற்கீழ் அறம் நால்வர்க்கு அருள்புரிந்து
having expounded religious truths to the four sages sitting under the banyan tree in the distant past.
காலன் உயிர் கொன்றாய்
you took away the life of Kālaṉ (the god of death)
மறையோனுக்கு உயிர் கொடுத்தாய்
you granted a very long lease of life to the brahmin
[[உயிர் should be linked with both with Kālaṉ and maṟaiyaṉ]]
மான்கன்று ஆரும் கரவா
one who holds a young deer in your hand!

my god and father who is Kaṭavūr tiruvīraṭṭam!

பொன்மேனியின் மேல் போர் ஆரும் கரியின் உரிபோர்த்து
covering the body glittering like gold, with the skin of an elephant capable of fighting.
வார் ஆரும் முலையாள் ஒருபாகம் மகிழ்ந்தவனே
one who rejoiced in having on one half a lady who wears a bodice on his breasts!
கார்ஆரும்மிடற்றாய்
one who has a blace neck!

you entered into my soul without fail.
இன்னம் போந்தறியாய்
till now you do not know to get our of it.
கை ஆர் ஆடு அரவா
on who holds a dancing cobra in the hand!
கடவூர்தனுள் வீரட்டத்து எம் ஐயா
our father in Kaṭavūr vīraṭṭam!

{$} மண் நீர் தீ வெளி கால்வரு பூதங்கள் ஆகி மற்றும், பெண்ணோடு ஆண் அலியாய்ப் பிறவா உரு ஆனவனே
you who have a body which is not born like other beings, in addition to being female, male and hermaphradite and being the elements that are enumerated as earth, water, fire, space, and air!

(1) கண் உள் ஆரும் மணியே
the apple of the eye which is within the eye!

one who has adorned a young cobra on your red caṭai which is like fire!
நரிஆரும் சுடலை நகுவெண்தலை கொண்டவனே
one who holds a laughing white skull which is found in the cremation ground which abounds in foxes!
கரிஆர் ஈர் உரியாய்
one who has a skin flayed from an elephant!
கடவூர்தனுள் வீரட்டத்து எம் அரியாய்
our dear thing which dwells in Kaṭavūr viraṭṭam!

விளங்கும் குழைக்காது உடையாய்
one who wears a shining men's ear-ring in the right ear!

என் செழுஞ்சுடரே
my bright light!
காறு ஆர் வெண் மருப்பா
one who adorns the hog's white tusk which is like the plough share in form
[[NOTE_ETHNO: If காறு is taken as the corruption of Kāṟai, then Kāṟai means an ornament worn on the neck.]]

you who are the sweet fruit whose feet and head could not be seen by Ayaṉ (Piramaṉ) and ari (Māl) in the past

எம் பரனே
our supreme god!
பரம் ஆய பரஞ்சுடரே
the supreme light which is superior to all other lights!
கயம் ஆரும் சடையாய்
one who has a caṭai which is like a tank!
கடவூர்த்திருவீரட்டத்துள் அயனே! என் அமுதே
the god who is not born and who dwells in Kaṭavurt Tiruvīraṭṭam! my nectar!

கார் ஆரும் பொழில்சூழ் கடவூர்த் திருவீரட்டத்துள், ஏர் ஆரும் இறையை
on the god who is visible to the eye in Kaṭavūrttiruvīraṭṭam surrounded by gardens on which clouds are crowding.
துணையா
considering him as the only companion.
எழில் நாவலர் கோன்
the chief among the people of beautiful nāvalūr.
ஆரூரன்
who has the name of ārūraṉ.
அடியான்
the slave of Civaṉ.
அடித்தொண்டன் உரைத்ததமிழ் பாரோர் ஏத்தவல்லார் (ஆயின்)
if those who are able, among the people of this world, to praise with the help of the Tamiḻ verses composed by the devotee of the feet of Civaṉ.
பரலோகத்து இருப்பார்
will live in the uppermost world (civalōkam).
