நாட்டியத்தான் குடி நம்பீ
the supreme being of Nāṭṭiyattāṉkuṭi!
பூண் நாண் ஆவது ஓர் அரவம் கண்டு அஞ்சேன்
I wont be afraid of the cobras which are your ornaments and waist-cord.
புறங்காட்டு ஆடல்கண்டு இகழேன்
I wont despise you knowing that you are dancing in the cremation ground which is in the out skirts of the city.
பேணீர் ஆகிலும் பெருமையை (1) உணர்வேன்
even though you may not love me intensely I shall understand your greatness and love you.
பிறவேன் ஆகிலும் மறவேன்
though I may not be born again I shall not forget you.
காணீர் ஆகிலும் என்மனத்தால் காண்பன்
though you may not see me with benign looks I shall see you in my mental eye to my complete satisfaction.
கருதீர் ஆகிலும்
even if you do not think of me and bestow your grace.
(2) கருதி நானேல் உம் அடிபாடுதல் ஒழியேன்
I shall not stop from singing the praises of your feet thinking of them for my part.

திப்பியமூர்த்தி
Civaṉ who has a divine visible form!
வைச்சே இடர்களைக் களைந்திடவல்ல மணியே மாணிக்க வண்ணா
the superior god who can create and root out sufferings! one who has the colour of the ruby!
(1) கச்சு ஏர் பாம்பு ஒன்று கட்டி நின்று இடுகாட்டு எல்லியில் ஆடலைக் கவர்வன்
I shall fix permanently wishing it, in my mind your form of dancing in the night in the burial ground tying as a girdle a cobra that is raising its hood high!
(2) துச்சேன் என்மனம் புகுந்து இருக்கின்றமை சொல்லாய்
please tell me the reason for having entered into the mind of mine who is very low;

நான் உனை அல்லால் ஒருவரை நச்சேன்
I wont like anyone else except you.

பஞ்சு ஏர் மெல்லடி மாமலைமங்கை பங்கா
Civaṉ who has as a half the daughter of the big mountain, who has soft feet made beautiful by being painted with the dye prepared from redcotton flower!
எம் பரமேட்டி
our Lord who is in an exalted place!
மஞ்சு ஏர்வெண்மதி செஞ்சடை வைத்தமணியே
the great gem who placed on the red caṭai a white crescent which moves on the clouds!
மாணிக்கவண்ணா
one who has the colour of the ruby!
நஞ்சு ஏர் கண்டா
one who has a neck in which there is poison!
வெண்தலை ஏந்தீ
one who holds a white skull!
அஞ்சாதே உனக்கு ஆட்செய வல்லேன்
I am capable doing service to you without fear, though there are reasons, to be afraid of.
யாதினுக்கு ஆசைப்படுகேன்
as a result of that what should I long for? (I wont wish for anything.)

நாட்டியத்தான்குடி நம்பீ

நின்புகழ் கல்லேன் அல்லேன்
I am not a person who has not learnt your fame.
அடிமை கல்லாதே பல கற்றேன்
I learnt many acts of slavery without learning from-others, as you indicated them to me staying with me.
நில்லேன் அல்லேன் நின்வழி
I am not a person who will not tread the path shown by you.
(நின்வழி) நின்றார் தம்முடை நீதியை நினையவல்லேன் அல்லேன்
I have not the capabality to think about the right conduct of those devotees who tread the path shown by you.
பொன் அடி பரவ மறுமையை நினையமாட்டேன்
I wont think of the next world, heaven, as a prize for praising your golden feet.
நான் உனக்கு அல்லால் நல்லேன் அல்லேன்
I am not in good relationship to anyone else except to you.

நாட்டியத்தான் குடி நம்பீ

மட்டுஆர் பூங்குழல் மலைமகள் (1) கணவ
the husband of the daughter of the mountain who has tresses of hair with flowers full of fragrance, tucked in!
நிற்கருதாதார் தமைக் கருதேன்
I would not esteem those who do not think of you.
ஒட்டீராகிலும் ஓட்டுவன் அடியேன்
I your slave, will betake myself for protection even if you are not friendly towards me
உன் அடி அடைந்தவர்க்கு அடிமைப்பட்டேன் ஆகிலும்
though I am a slave to the devotees who have approached your feet.
பாடுதல் ஒழியேன்
I shall never cease singing your praises, being proud of that greatness.
பாடியும் நாடியும் அறிய நட்டேன்
I befriended you singing your praises and investigating your greatness to be known to all.
ஆதலால் நான் மறக்கில்லேன்
therefore I am incapable of forgetting you.

நாட்டியத்தான் குடி நம்பீ

நான் பட்டது எல்லாம் படப்பாற்று அன்மையின்
as all the sufferings that I underwent were not my lot.
படுத்தாய் என்று அல்லல் பறையேன்
I wont give vent to my sorrow as it was my fate to suffer, accusing you to be their cause.
குடப்பாச்சில்(ல்) உறை கோ
the chief who dwells in pāccil in the west!
குளிர்வானே
the cool cloud that rains!
கோனே
the master of all!
கூற்று உதைத்தானே
one who kicked the god of death!
மடப்பால் தயிரொடுநெய் மகிழ்ந்து ஆடும் மறை ஓதீ
one who chants the vētams and bathes with joy in the milk, curd and ghee which are kept in the house of devotees!
மங்கை பங்கா
one who has a young lady as a half!
நடப்பீர் ஆகிலும் உம் அடிக்கே நடப்பன்
Even if you forsake me I shall try to approach your feet (Such is my love towards you).

ஐவாய் அரவினை மதியுடன் வைத்த அழகா
Beautiful god who placed the cobra of five hoods along with the crescent!
அமரர்கள் தலைவா
the master of the immortals!
உள்ளம் உள்ளளவும்
so long as my mind lasts.
எய்வான் வைத்தது ஓர் இலக்கினை அணைதர நினைந்தேன்
I thought of reaching the object in view that I had in my mind.
உய்வான் எண்ணி வந்து உம் அடி அடைந்தேன்
I approached your feet thinking of saving myself.
உகவீராகிலும் உகப்பன்
though you may not like me I shall like and love you.
அடியேன் உமக்கு ஆட்பட்டது நைவான் அன்று
it is not for suffering that I, you slave, became your protege.

நாட்டியத்தான் குடி நம்பீ

மானுடவாழ்க்கை ஒன்றாகக் கலியேன்
I shall not become puffed with pride thinking the hum an life as a thing worthy of regard.
கருதிடின் கண்கள் நீர் (1) பில்கும்
If I ponder over its transience tears flow from my eyes.
பலிதேர்ந்து உண்பது ஓர் பண்பு கண்டு இகழேன்
I wont despise you knowing your nature of eating by collecting alms.
பசுவே ஏறினும் பழியேன்
I would not speak reproachful words though you ride on a bull.
வலியே ஆகிலும் வணங்குதல் ஒழியேன்
though it may give me strength by not bowing to you I would not cease from paying homage to you.
மறுமையை நினைய மாட்டேன்
I shall not thing of the happiness in the birth here after.
நான் உமை அல்லால் ஒருவரை நலியேன்
I would not trouble anyone else except you.

நண்டு ஆடும்வயல் தண்டலை வேலி நாட்டியத்தான்குடி நம்பீ
the distinctive god in nāṭṭuyattāṉ kuti which has fields in which crabs are playing, and is bounded on all sides by gardens!
குண்டு ஆடிச் சமண் சாக்கியப் பேய்கள் கொண்டார் ஆகிலும்
though I come to know that the camaṇar and cakkiyar who are like peys and who take upon themselves obstinacy in their doctrines.
கொள்ளக் கண்டாலும்
and though I see in person their nature.
கருதேன்
I would not think of it as having any substance.
எருது ஏறும் கண்ணா
Civaṉ who is as precious to me as the eye, and who rides on a bull!
நின் அலது அறியேன்
I know of no other god except you.
தொண்டு ஆடித்தொழுவார் தொழக்கண்டு என்வினை போகத்தொழுதேன்
I worshipped you with joined hands to make the acts of mine leave me, seeing the devotees to worship you with joined hands doing service to you, by initating them.

கூடாமன்னரைக் கூட்டத்து வென்ற கொடிறன் கோட்புலி சென்னி நாடு ஆர் தொல் புகழ் நாட்டியத்தான்குடி நம்பியை நாளும் மறவாச் சேடுஆர் பூங்குழல் சிங்கடி அப்பன் திருவாரூரன் உரைத்த பாடுமின்
sing the verses composed by tiruvārūraṉ, the father of cinkaṭi who has beautiful tresses of hair wearing flowers, and who never forgets the eminent Civaṉ in nattiyattaṉ kuṭi which has old fame and is in the country of the coḻa monarchs and which is the native place of Kōṭpuli who conquered the confederacy of enemies by capturing them without escaping like a pair of pincers.

if you sing your sins will lose their grip over you.
