கொட்டையூரில் கோடீச்சரத்து உறையும் கோமான்

கருமணிபோல் கண்டத்து அழகன்
Has a beautiful neck like the sapphire.
கல்லால் நிழற்கீழ் இருந்தான்
sat under the shade of the Kallāl tree

பருமணி மா நாகம் பூண்டான்
adorned himself with big cobras which have big gems on their hoods

the King who dwells in Kōṭīccaram in Koṭṭaiyūr surrounded by grove of cocoanut trees having clusters of fruits.
கலைக்கன்று தங்கு கரத்தான்
holds in his hand a young deer
கலை பயில் வோர் ஞானக்கண் ஆனான்
is the eye of wisdom to those who learn arts.
அலைக்கங்கை செஞ்சடை மேல் ஏற்றான்
received on the red caṭai Kaṅkai with waves.
அண்ட கபாலத்து அப்பாலான்
is beyond the wall of this universe (அண்டகபாலம் - அண்டச் சுவரின் உச்சி)
மலைப்பண்டம் கொண்டு வரு நீர்ப் பொன்னி வலஞ்சுழியின் மேவிய மைந்தன்
is the youth who dwells with pleasure in valañcuḻi on the bank of the poṉṉi which brings with its flood, products of the mountain.

adorned himself with red lotus flowers.

is the pure one who besmears his sacred body with holy ash.
புள் பாகற்கு ஆழி கொடுத்தான்
gave a discus to Māl whose mount is a bird (Karuṭaṉ)
இடி ஆர் கடு முழக்கு ஏறு ஊர்ந்தான்
rides on a bull whose loud bellowing noise is like the thunder.
எண் திசைக்கும் விளக்கு ஆகி நின்றான்
He is the light to the eight quarters.
மடல் ஆர் திரை புரளும் காவிரிவாய் வலஞ்சுழியில் மேவியமைந்தன்
is the strong youth who dwells in valañcuḻi on the bank of the Kāviri in which waves with flowers roll up and down.

is the great Lord who tied round his waist conch-beads and cobras
தக்கனது பெருவேள்வி தகர்த்தான்
laid waste the big sacrificeperformed by takkaṉ
