I, who had committed sins, without knowing.
கருமணியை
Civaṉ as precious as the apple of the eye.
கனகத்தின்குன்று ஒன்று ஒப்பானை
who is like the hill of gold.
கருதுவார்க்கு ஆற்ற எளியான் தன்னை
who is very easy of approach to those who meditate on him.
குருமணியை
who is the brilliant gem?
கோள் (1) ஆரவு ஒன்று ஆட்டுவானை
who causes a cobra capable of killing to dance.
(2) கொல்வேங்கை அதளானை
who wears a skin of a tiger which can kill.
கோவணவன்தனை
who wears a loin-cloth.
அருமணியை
who is a rare gem.
அடைந்தவர்கட்கு அமுது ஒப்பானை
who is as sweet as the nectar and removes death like the nectar, to those who approached him.
(3) ஆன் அஞ்சும் ஆடியை
who bathes in all the five products of the cow.
நான் அபயம்புக்க திருமணியை
who is the sapphire in whom I sought refuge (திருமணி-நீலமணி)

கார் ஒளிய கண்டத்து எம் கடவுள் தன்னை
our god who has a neck of black colour.
காபாலியை
who has a skull in his hand.
கட்டங்கம் ஏந்தினானை
who holds a battle-axe.
பார் ஒளியை
who is the fire that is in the earth.
விண்ஒளியை
who is the light in the sky such as the sun, the moon and the stars.
பாதாளத்தானை
who is the darkness in the nether worlds.
பால்மதியம் சூடி(ய) ஓர் பண்பன் தன்னை
who has good qualities and who wears a crescent as white as milk.
பேர் ஒளியை
the light that illumines other lights.
பெண் பாகம் வைத்தான் தன்னை
who placed on one half a lady.
பேணுவார் தம் வினையைப் பேணி வாங்கும் சீர் ஒளியை
who is the famous light which removes, taking particular care, the sins of those who cherish him with love.

எத்திசையும் வானவர்கள் தொழ நின்றானை
Civaṉ who remains to be worshipped by the celestials in all the directions.
ஏறு ஊர்ந்த பெம்மானை
who is the god who rode on a bull.
எம்மான் என்று பத்தனாய்ப் பணிந்த அடியேன் தன்னைப் பன்னாள் பாமாலை பாடப் பயில்வித்தானை
who trained me to sing garlands of verses on many days, his devotee who paid homage to him being his slave, thinking him in my mind as my master. (பணிந்த has become பணிந்து; தொகுத்தல் விகாரம்: lision of a syllable or syllables in words for the sake of metre)
முத்தினை
who is as precious as pearl.
என் மணியை
who is my gem.
மாணிக்கத்தை
who is my ruby.
முளைத்து எழுந்த (1) செழும்பவளக் கொழுந்து ஒப்பானை
who is like the shoot of the flawless coral that sprouts and rises above the sea.

who is capable of doing every thing.

ஊன் கருவின் உள்நின்ற சோதியானை
Civaṉ who is the light inside the embryo of the body.
உத்தமனை
who is the supreme god who is possessed of all moral attributes.
பத்தர்மனம் குடி கொண்டானை
who occupied the minds of the votaries, being deep-seated in them.
கான் திரிந்து காண்டீபம் ஏந்தினானை
who held a bow in his hand wandering in the forest (காண்டீபம்: is the proper noun for the bow of aruccuṉaṉ; it is used as a common noun)
கார்மேக மிடற்றானை
who has neck like the sable cloud.
கனலை, காற்றை
who is the fire, and the air.
தான் தெரிந்து அங்கு அடியேனை ஆளாக்கொண்டு
knowing the opportune moment, admitting me as his slave, his devotee there itself.
தன்னுடைய திருவடி என் தலைமேல்வைத்த (1) தீங்கரும்பை
who is like the sweet juice of sugar-cane and who placed his superior holy feet on my low head.

தக்கனது பெருவேள்கள் தகர்த்தானாகி
having ruined the grand sacrifice of takkaṉ.
(1) தாமரையான் நான்முகனும் தானே ஆகி
being himself also the Piramaṉ of four faces who is in the lotus flower.
மிக்கது ஒரு தீவளி நீர் ஆகாசமாய்
who is the strong fire, the air, the water and the sky.
மேல் உலகுக்கு அப்பாலாய் இப்பாலானை
who is in this world while transcending the upper-worlds
அக்கினொடு முத்தினையும் அணிந்து
who wears the low chank beads as well as the costly pearls without any difference.
தொண்டர்க்கு அங்கங்கே அறுசமயம் ஆகிநின்ற (2) தக்கினை
who is the asylum to the devotees in the places where they are, as the six religious sects intimately related to caiva cittāntam. (திக்கு- refuge)

புகழ்ஒளியை
the divine light which is praised by all.
புரம் எரித்த புனிதன் தன்னை
the holy god who purnt the cities of (enemies).
பொன்பொதித்த மேனியனை
who has a body like the piled up gold.
புராணன் தன்னை
the primordial god.
விழவு ஒலியும் விண்ஒலியும் ஆனான் தன்னை
who is the bustle of the festivals and the sound of the sky.
வெண்காடுமேவிய விகிர்தன் தன்னை
who is different from the world and who dwells in veṇkāṭu.
கழல் ஒலியும் கைவளையும் ஆர்ப்ப ஆர்ப்பக் கடைதோறும் இடுபிச்சைக்கு என்று செல்லும் திகழ் ஒளியை
the light that excels all other lights and goes to every entrance to receive alms placed in the bowl, when the sound of the Kaḻal and the wristlet make a very big noise.

யானையின் உரிதோல் பொங்கப் பொங்கப் போர்த்துப் புலி அதளே உடையாகத் திரிவான் தன்னை
Civaṉ who wanders wearing a tiger's skin and covering himself with a skin, flayed from an elephant to be very attractive by the splendour of his body.
ஐம்புலனும் காத்தானை
who restrained the perception of the five senses.
புரங்கள் மூன்றும் காலனையும் குரைகழலால் காய்ந்தான் தன்னை
who destroyed all the three cities and destroyed the god of death by his feet wearing sounding Kaḻai.
மாந்து ஆடிப்பத்தராய் வணங்கும் தொண்டர் வல்வினைவேர் அறும் வண்ணம் மருந்தும் ஆகித் தீர்த்தானை
who cured the disease of the irresistible acts completely rooting them out, if the devotees who pay homage to him being loyal to him having greatness.

துறவாதே (1) யாக்கை துறந்தான் தன்னை
Civaṉ who is naturally without any body.
சோதி முழுமுதலாய் நின்றான் தன்னை
who remained as the lustrous sole cause.
பிறவாத எவ்வுயிர்க்கும் தானே ஆகித்
being the companion to all living beings without being born.
பெண்ணினொடு ஆண் உருவாய் நின்றான் தன்னை
who has the female as well as the male bodies.
மறவாதே தன் திறமே வாழ்த்தும் தொண்டர் மனத்தகத்தே அனவரதம் மன்னி நின்ற திறலானை
who has the capablity of knowing everything by staying permanently always in the minds of his devotees who sing songs of benediction about his nature.

பொற்றூணை
Civaṉ who is like the pillar made of gold

புலால் நாறு கபாலம் ஏந்தி
hold a skull from which issues the stench of flesh.
புவலோகம் எல்லாம் உழிதர்வானை
who wanders in all the worlds beginning with puvalōkam.
முற்றாத வெண் திங்கட் கண்ணியானை
who wears a chaplet of a young crescent.
முழுமுதலாய்
being the sole cause.
மூவுலகும் முடிவு ஒன்று இல்லாக் கல்தூணை
who pervades all the three worlds and supports them like a stone pillar that has no end.
காளத்திமலையான் தன்னை
who dwells in the mountain, Kāḷatti.
கருதாதார் புரம்மூன்றும் எரிய அம்பால் செற்றானை
who destroyed with an arrow all the three cities of the enemies, to burn.

இகழ்ந்தானை இருபதுதோள் நெரிய ஊன்றி
pressing firmly the toe to crush the twenty shoulders of Irāvaṇaṉ who lifted the mountain and slighted Civaṉ.
எழுநரம்பின் இசை (1) பாட இனிது கேட்டு
when he sang music with the seven strings of the lute, listening to it with pleasure.
புகழ்ந்தானை
who applauded hearing that, by granting boons.
பூத்துருத்தி மேயான் தன்னை
who dwells in pūnturutti.
புண்ணியனை
who is the embodiment of all virtues.
விண்ணவர்கள் (2) நிதியம் தன்னை
the treasure of the celestials.
மலைமகள் ஓர்பாகம் வைத்து மகிழ்ந்தானை
who felt happy in having placed the daughter of the mountain on one half.
மால்(உம்) ஓர் பாகம் திகழ்ந்தானை
who is eminent by having Māl also on one part
