தொண்டு இலங்கும் அடியவர்க்கு ஓர் (1) நெறியினாரும்
Civaṉ who is the path of virtue to the devotees who are eminent by their service to god.
தூநீறு துதைந்து இலங்கு மார்பினாரும்
who has on his chest the pure sacred ash smeared thickly and is shining.
புண்டரிகத்து அயனொடு மால் காணா வண்ணம் பொங்கு தழற் பிழம்பு ஆய புராணனாரும்
the primordial god who shot up as a mass of fire that could not be seen by Ayaṉ who is in a lotus flower, and by Māl.
வண்டு அமரும் மலர்க் கொன்றை மாலையாரும்
who wears a garland of koṉṟai flowers on which bees stay.
வானவர்க்கா நஞ்சு உண்ட மைந்தனாரும்
who is the strong youth who consumed the poison in order to save the celestials.
விண்டவர் தம் புரம் மூன்றும் எரி செய்தாரும்
and who burnt all the three cities of the enemies
வெண்ணி அமர்ந்து உறை கின்ற விகிர்தனார் (ஏ)
is the god who is different from the world and dwells with love in Veṇṇi.

Civaṉ who smears on his body which is red like the fire, the white sacred ash.
நெற்றிமேல் ஒற்றைக்கண் நிறைவித்தாரும்
who filled up his forehead with a single eye.
பொருப்பு அரையன் மடப்பாவை இடப்பாலாரும்
who has on his left half the beautiful and artless daughter of the King of mountains.
பூந்துருத்தி நகர் மேய புராணனாரும்
who is the ancient one who desired the city of pūnturutti.
மருப்பு அனைய வெண் மதியக் கண்ணியாரும்
who has the white crescent which is like the elephant's tusk as a chaplet.
வளை குளமும் மறைக்காடும் மன்னினாரும்
who stays always in vaḷaikuḷam and maṟaikkāṭu;

one who held in his hand a trident of three blades which is moving there.
கரி காட்டில் எரி ஆடும் கடவுளாரும்
who is the god that dances in the fire in the scorched cremation-ground.
பை உலாம் நாகம் கொண்டு ஆட்டுவாரும்
who causes the cobra which has spread out its hood, to dance.
பரவுவார் பாவங்கள் பாற்றுவாரும்
who can destroy the sins of those who praise him.
செய் உலாம் கயல் 1. பாய வயல்கள் சூழ்ந்த திருப்புன் கூர் மேவிய செல்வனாரும்
the Lord who dwells with desire in tiruppuṉkūr surrounded by fields, when the fish carp leeps which are wandering in the fields.
மெய் எலாம் வெண்ணீறு சண்ணித்தாரும்
who smeared all over the his body with white sacred ash;

the able Civaṉ who kept on his caṭai water that rises.
தக்கன் தன் பெருவேள்வி 1. தகர்த்திட்டாரும்
who devasted the big sacrifice performed by takkaṉ.
உடை ஏறு புலி அதள் மேல் நாகம் கட்டி
having tied a cobra on the skin of a tiger which fits as his dress.
உண் பலிக்கு என்று 2. ஊர் ஊரன் உழிதர்வாரும்
who wanders from village to village to obtain alms for his food.
மடை ஏறிக் கயல் பாய
when the fish, carp, leap climbing on the small sluices through which water flows into the fields.
வயல்கள் சூழ்ந்த மயிலாடுதுறை உறையும் மணாளனாரும்
who is the bride-groom who dwells in mayilāṭutuṟai surrounded by fields.
விடை ஏறு வெல்கொடி எம் விமலனாரும்
our spotless god who has a victorious flag on which the bull is rising.

Civaṉ being himself the earth, the glittering water, fire, air and the sky (the five elements)
மற்று அவற்றின் குணம் எலாமாய் நின்றாரும்

who dances singing songs in which the melody-types are prominent.
பருப்பதமும் பாசூரும் மன்னினாரும்
who dwelt always in Sricailam and pācūr.
கண் இலங்கு நுதலாரும்
who has on his forehead a prominent eye.
கபாலம் ஏந்திக் கடை தோறும் பலி கொள்ளும் காட்சியாரும்
who has a form of receiving alms in every entrance of the houses, holding a skull.

who burnt all the three forts of the enemies.
குரைகழலால் கூற்றுவனைக் குமை செய்தாரும்
who trod upon the god of death by his foot wearing sounding Kaḻal.
ஆடும் அரவு அரைக்கு அசைத்து (அங்கு) ஆடுவாரும்
who dances tying a cobra that dances spreading its hood, in the waist.
ஆலமர நீழல் இருந்து அறம் சொன்னாரும்
who gave moral instruction sitting under the shade of the banyan tree.

மான் ஒன்று ஏந்தி மடவாள்அவளோடும் சிட்டு இலங்கு 1. வேடத்தர் ஆகி
having the form in which the spiritual wisdom is conspicuous, being united with a lady, and holding in the hand a deer.
நாளும் சில் பலிக்கு 2. ஊர் ஊரன் திரிதர்வாரும்
who wander from village to village daily to obtain a small quantity of alms.
கட்டு இலங்கு பாசத்தால் வீச வந்த காலன் தன் காலம் அறுப்பார் தாமும்
who took away the life of the god of death who came to throw the noose which is famous by binding the bodies.
விட்டு இலங்கு வெண் குழை சேர் காதினாரும்
who wears in his ears a white men's ear-ring which shines intermittently.

திருவாலவாய் உறையும் செல்வனாரும்
who is the god who dwells in tiruvālavāy-(tiruvālavāy-maturai)
அஞ்சனக் கண் அரிவை ஒரு பாகத்தாரும்
who has a lady on whose eyes collirium is coated, as a half,
[[As Civaṉ has no end the eyes of Umai is always coated with collirium; those who lose their husbands give up coating their eyes with collirium;
நெய் துடைத்து அடையலர் நேய மாதர்கண், மை துடைத்து உறை புகும் வயங்கொள் வேலினாய் (Kamparāmāyaṇam, nakarnīṅkupaṭalam, 160)]]
ஆறு அங்கம் நால் வேதம் ஆய் நின்றாரும்
who is always the six aṅkams and the four vetams.
மஞ்சு அடுத்த நீள் சோலை மாடவீதி மதில் ஆரூர் புக்கு அங்கே மன்னினாரும்
who entering into ārūr which has a wall of fortification and streets having storeyed houses and long gardens in which the clouds join, stayed there permanently.
வெஞ்சினத்த வேழம் (அது) உரி செய்தாரும்

வளம் கிளகும் மதி 1. சூடும் வேணியாரும்
Civaṉ who has a caṭai on which he wears a crescent which increases in beauty.
வானவர்க்கா நஞ்சு உண்ட மைந்தனாரும்
the strong youth who consumed the poison to save the celestials from death.
களம் கொள என் சிந்தையுள்ளே மன்னினாரும்
who stayed permanently in my mind to have a place of his own to stay.
கச்சி ஏகம் பத்து எம் கடவுளாரும்
who is our god in ēkampam in Kacci.
உளம் குளிர அமுது ஊறி அண்ணிப்பாரும்
who is sweet flowing like the nectar for my mind, to be satisfied completely.
உத்தமராய் எத்திசையும் மன்னினாரும்
who stays permanently in all the direction as the supreme being, possessed of all moral attributes.
விளங்கிளரும் வெண்மழு ஒன்று ஏந்தினாரும்
who holds a sharp battle-axe which shines very brightly

புகலூரும் பூவணமும் பொருந்தினாரும்
Civaṉ who is in pukalūr and pūvaṇam
கொன் 1. இலங்கு மூ இலைவேல் ஏந்தினாரும்
who held in his hand a trident of three blades which strikes fear.
2. குளிர் ஆர்ந்த செஞ்சடை எம் குழகனாரும்
who is our youth who has a red caṭai which is very cool (by the water of Kaṅkai)
தென் இலங்கை மன்னவர் கோன் சிரங்கள் பத்தும் திருவிரலால் அடர்த்து அவனுக்கு அருள் செய்தாரும்
who crushed by his holy toe all the ten heads of the King of ilaṅkai in the south and then granted grace.
மின் இலங்கு நுண்ணிடையாள் பாகத்தாரும்
who has Umai who has a slender waist that is pliable like the lightning, on one half.
