you are the water and the earth whose quality is forbearance.
பூதப் படை ஆள் புனிதா (போற்றி)
the pure god who has in your command an army of pūtam-s.
நிறையுடைய நெஞ்சின் இடையாய் (போற்றி)
you dwell in the minds which have complete self-control.
நீங்காது என் உள்ளத்து இருந்தாய் (போற்றி)
you occupied my mind without leaving it.

you expounded the vētam-s which have a upaniṭatam;

you are near at hand to those who are the embodiment of love.

you have a caṭai on your head in which the river, Kaṅkai has risen.

you adorned yourself with bones everywhere in your body.

you are the rare nectar to the devotees.

the light divine which shines like the flame of the lamp.

you occupied in my mind appearing there.
கடலின் ஒளி ஆய முத்தே (போற்றி)
the pearl that is hidden under the ocean.

you granted an unequalled discus even to Māl

பொய் சேர்ந்த சிந்தை புகாதாய் (போற்றி)
you do not enter into the minds in which there are doubts and enormous apprehension of objects.
போகாது என் உள்ளத்து இருந்தாய் (போற்றி)
you stayed in my heart without going out of it.
மெய் சோப் பால் வெண்ணீறு ஆடீ (போற்றி)
you bathed in white sacred ash as white as milk to be smeared all over the body.
மிக்கோர்கள் ஏத்தும் விளக்கே (போற்றி)
the light that is praised by great people!
கை சேர் அனல் ஏந்தி ஆடீ (போற்றி)
one who dances holding fire in the hand.

Civaṉ who has a crown of catai in which the river rises.
அடியார்கட்கு ஆரமுதாய் நின்றாய் (போற்றி)
you remain as the rare nectar to your devotees.
நீறு ஏறு மேனி உடையாய் (போற்றி)
you have a body in which sacred ash is sumptuously smeared.
நீங்காது என் உள்ளத்து இருந்தாய் (போற்றி)

1. கூறு ஏறு அங்கை மழுவா (போற்றி)
Civaṉ who has very sharp battle axe held in the hand;

you transcended all the seven worlds from time immemorial.
ஆதி புராணனாய் நின்றாய் (போற்றி)

பண்டை வினைகள் அறுப்பாய் (போற்றி)
you completely remove all the acts done in previous births which are accumulated.

you who are praised by the people of this world and the celestials in heaven.
தொண்டர் 1. பரவும் இடத்தாய் (போற்றி)
you manifest yourself in all places where the devotees praise you.
தொழில் நோக்கி ஆளும் சுடரே (போற்றி)
the light that admits devotees having an eye on their worship.
கண்டம் கறுக்கவும் வல்லாய் (போற்றி)
you were able to consume the poison and to station it in your neck to turn its colour into black.

the river with swollen floods dashing against the banks.

you who can cure diseases which cannot be cured by other means

you stay in the minds of those whose hearts melt and meditate on you.

the gold that glitters and is not easily available.

பொய்யா நஞ்சு உண்ட பொறையே (போற்றி)
the embodiment of patience which never fails and consumed the poison.

பொருள் ஆக என்னை ஆட்கொண்டாய் (போற்றி)
you admitted me to your grace thinking me worthy of receiving it
மெய் ஆக ஆன் அஞ்சு உகந்தாய் (போற்றி)
you rejoiced truths in being bathed in the five products of the cow.
மிக்கார்கள் ஏத்தும் குணத்தாய் (போற்றி)
you have attributes which are priased by superior people.
கையானை மெய்த் தோல் உரித்தாய் (போற்றி)
you flayed from the body of the elephant with a trunk, its skin.

the god of the celestials who are placed in a higher world!
மேல் ஆடு புரம் மூன்றும் எய்தாய் (போற்றி)
you discharged an arrow to destroy all the three cities which were wandering in the sky.
சீலத்தான் தென் இலங்கை மன்னன் சிலை எடுக்க வாய் அலற வைத்தாய் (போற்றி போற்றி)
when the King of the ilaṅkai in the south who later worshipped you, lifted the mountain, you caused him to roar by his ten mouths.
கோலத்தால் குறைவு இல்லான் தன்னை அன்று கொடிதாகக் காய்ந்த குழகா (போற்றி)
the youth who burnt in that distant past Kāmaṉ who hadon no defect in beauty, for people to consider it as a cruel act.
கால் அத்தால் காலனையும் காய்ந்தாய் (போற்றி)
you killed even the god of death by your leg.
