நான் ஆரார் திரிபுரங்கள் நீறா நோக்கும் அனலாடி ஆரமுதே என்றேன்
I said, `one who fixed his looks at the three cities of the enemies to be reduced to powder! rare nectar'!

கூர் ஆர் மழு வாட்படை ஒன்று ஏந்தி
holding a weapon of a battle-axe which has a sharp edge!
குறட் பூதப் பல் படையாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who has many armies of dwarf pūtams.
நான் பேர் ஆயிரம் உடையாய் என்றேன்
I said, `you who have one thousand names!
[[Thousand does not mean exactly thousand, but used in the sense of innumerable.]]
நான் பிறை சூடும் பிஞ்ஞகனே என்றேன்
I said, the destroyer who wears a crescent on his head!
ஆரா அமுதே ஐயாறன்னே என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றி நைகின்றேனே
I faint by shounting with excitement many times continuously `insatiate nectar! Civaṉ in Aiyāṟu'
[[நானே : ஏ denotes determination in this decade;
ஐயாறன்னே: ன் is an augmentation for the sake of metre, it will apply to other verses wherever it occurs.;
நானே: ஏ in all the verses excludes all others except Nāvukkaracar; this will apply to the whole of this decade]]

நான் தீவாயில் முப்புரங்கள் நீறா நோக்கும் தீர்த்தா! புராணனே என்றேன்
I said, Pure one who fired his gaze on the three cities so that they were reduced to powder by the fire! the `ancient god'
மூவாமதி சூடி என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who wears a young crescent
[[Here also சூடீ ; the reading with the long vowel would be better]]
முதல்வா முக்கண்ணனே என்றேன் நான்
I said The foremost among gods! one who has three eyes! (முதல்வா the first cause)
ஏர் ஆர்சிலையானே என்றேன் நானே
I said, one who has a bow (piṉākam) to which the arrow is always fixed!
இடும்பைக் கடல் நின்றும் ஏறவாங்கி ஆவா என்று அருள் புரியும் ஐயாறன்னே என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றி நைகின்றேனே
I faint shounting with excitement `Civaṉ in aiyāṟu who grants his grace with compassion having lifted up entirely from the ocean of sufferings, to his devotees'.

1. அம் சுண்ணவண்ணனே என்றேன் நானே
I said, one who has the colour of the powder of beautiful gold!
அடியார்க்கு ஆரமுதே என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who is like the rare nectar to the devotees!
நஞ்சு அணி கண்டனே என்றேன் நான்
I said, one has a beautiful neck where poison is stationed!
நாவலர்கள் நான் மறையே என்றேன் நான்
I said, the four vetāms which are monopoly of poeple who can expound their meanings!
நெஞ்சு உணர உள்புக்கிருந்த போது நிறையும் 2. அமுதே என்றேன் நான்
I said, the nectar that fills up my mind when you entered it and was seated in my mind to make it to know you!
அஞ்சாதே ஆள்வானே ஐயாறன்னே என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றி நைகின்றேனே
I faint shouting with excitement many times continuously, one who admits people into his grace, saving them from fear of all kinds!

நான் தொல்லைக் (கடலே) தொடுகடலே என்றேன்
I said the ancient sea that was dug out!
[[The modern Bay of Bengal was dug, according to rāmāyaṇam, by cakarar;
குணா அது கரை பொரு தொடு கடற் குணக்கும், குடா அது தொன்று முதிர் பௌவத்தின் குடக்கும் (puṟam 6-3-4);
கீழ்க்கண்ணது கரையைப் பொருகின்ற சகரரால் தோண்டப்பட்ட சாகரத்தின் கிழக்கும், மேல் கண்ணது பழைதாய் முதிர்ந்த கடலின் மேற்கும் (Do. old commentary);
கடல் should be added to தொல்லை also]]
துலங்கும் இளம் பிறையாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who wears a shining crescent!
எல்லை நிறைந்தானே என்றேன் நானே
I said, one who pervades all the worlds!
ஏழ் நரம் பின் இன்னிசையாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said the sweet music produced by the seven strings of a lute
அல்லற்கடல்புக்கு அழுந்து வேனை வாங்கி அருள் செய்தாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, you rescued me and bestowed your grace on me who was sinking in the sea of sufferings!
எல்லையாம் ஐயாறா என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ in aiyāṟu which is his dwelling place!
என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றிநைகின்றேன்
I stand with a melted heart shouting with excitement many times continuously

இண்டைச் சடைமுடியாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who adorns his caṭai coiled into a crown with a circlet of flowers
இருசுடர் வானத்தாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who is the sky in which the sun and moon shine!
தொண்டர் தொழப்படுவாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who is worshipped by devotees!
துருத்தி நெய்த்தானத்தாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who is in turutti and neyttāṉam.
[[These two shrines are in Tanjavūr Dt; the foomer is now known as Kuttālam]]
கண்டம் கறுத்தானே என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who has black colour in the neck!
கனல் ஆடும் கண்ணானே என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who has an eye that is fire!
அண்டத்துக்கு அப்பாலாம் ஐயாறன்னே என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றி நைகின்றேன்
I faint by shouting with excitement continuously many times the Lord in aiyāṟu who is beyond the universe!

பற்றார் புரம் எரித்தாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who burnt the cities of enemies!
பசுபதீ, பண்ட ரங்கா என்றேன் நான்
I said, master of all beings! one who performed the dance of pāṇṭaraṅkam!
கற்றார்கள் நாவினாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who is in the lips of learned people (Learned people will always praise god)
கடுவிடை ஒன்று ஊர்தியாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who has as a vehicle a bull of quick gait!
பற்றானார் நெஞ்சு உளாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who is in the hearts of pious people!
பார்த்தற்கு அருள் செய்தாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who granted a weapon to pārttaṉ (arjuṉaṉ)!
அற்றார்க்கு அருள் செய்யும் ஐயாறன்னே என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றிநைகின்றேன்
I faint shouting with excitement, Lord in aiyāṟu who grants his grace to those who have completely dedicated themselves to the service of god!
[[அற்றார் may mean also destitute people who have none to protect them; people who have no attachments to worldly possessions.]]

விண்ணோர் தலைவனே என்றேன் நான்
I said, the chief of the celestials!
விளங்கும் இளம்பிறையாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said,Civaṉ who has a shining crescent!
எண்ணார் எயில் எரித்தாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who burnt the forts of the enemies!
ஏகம்பம் மேயானே என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who is in ēkampam! (in Kacci)
[[ēkampan is the important temple of Civaṉ in Kāñcipuram]]

பண் ஆர் மறைபாடி என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who sang the maṟai which is full of music!
[[here also the reading பசுபதீ with the long letter would be better]]
பசுபதீ பால் நீற்றாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who is the master of all living beings! one who has besmeared his body with the holy ash as white as milk!
அண்ணா ஐயாறனே என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who is in aṇṇā (aṇṇāmalī), and who is in aiyāṟu!
என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றி நைகின்றேன்

உன்னை அஞ்சாதேனை நான் அவன் என்று அல்லல் அறுப்பானே என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who completely removed my suffering from me, who was not afraid of you out of respect, `thinking' that I am a worthless person.
[[This perhaps refers to Civaṉ inflicting excrutiating pain from a stomach-ache and then redeeming Appar from the association of jains, and curing him of that disease.]]
சிவன் என்று நான் உன்னை எல்லாம் சொல்லச் செல்வம் தருவானே என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who grants wealth, his grace, when I sang all your praises saying auspicious god!
பவன் ஆகி என் உள்ளத்து உள்ளே நின்று பண்டை வினை அறுப்பாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who completely destroys all the accumulated Karmams, by staying in the recess of my heart as self-existent god!
ஆதியே ஐயாறன்னே! அவன் என்றே!, என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றி நைகின்றேன்
I faint shouting with excitement, saying continously many times, the primordial god! Civaṉ in aiyāṟu, that person

கச்சி ஏகம்பனே என்றேன் நான்
I said, ēkampaṉ in kacci.
[[ஏகம்பன் is a corruption of ēkāmraṉ which means one who is under the single mango-tree]]
கயிலாயா! காரோணா என்றேன் நான்
I said, one who is in the mount, Kailācam and who is in Kārōṇam!
நிச்சல் மணாளனே என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who is a perpetual bridegroom!
நினைப்பார் மனத்து உளாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said Civaṉ who stays in the minds of those who think of him!
உச்சம் போது ஏறு ஏறீ என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who rides on a bull at noon!
[[He rides on a bull to beg alms at noon, பலிக்கென்று உச்சம் போதா ஊரூர் திரிய (cuntarar, tirukkaccūr ālakkōyil, 2)]]
உள்குவார் உள்ளத்தாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said, Civaṉ who is staying in the hearts of those who meditate upon you!
அச்சம் பிணி தீர்க்கும் ஐயாறன்னே என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றி நைகின்றேன்
I faint shouting with exitement many times continuously, Civaṉ in aiyāṟu who removes fear and diseases!

வில்லாடி வேடனே என்றேன் நான்
I said, hunter who made use of the bow!
வெண்ணீறு மெய்க்கு அணிந்தாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said you who besmeared your body with white holy ash!
சொல் ஆய சூழலாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said you who are in the words that I use to describe you!
சுலாவு ஆய தொல் நெறியே என்றேன் நான்
I said, the ancient way in which good people trod and which is pervading everywhere.
எல்லாம் ஆய் என் உயிரே என்றேன் நான்
I said, my life in addition to being all things!
இலங்கையர் கோன் தோள் இறுத்தாய் என்றேன் நான்
I said you crushed to break the shoulders of the King of the people of ilaṅkai!
அல்லாவினை தீர்க்கும் ஐயாறன்னே என்று என்றே நான் அரற்றி நைகின்றேன்
I faint shouting with excitement many times continuously, Civaṉ in aiyāṟu who removes all actions which are not associated with `godness!
