மறைக்காட்டு உறையும் மணாளன் (தான், ஏ)
the bridegroom who dwells in Maṟaikkāṭu.
தூண்டு சுடர் அனைய சோதி (கண்டாய்)
is like the lamp which shines brightly when trimmed.
தொல் அமரர் சூளாமணி (தான், கண்டாய்)
is the priceless gem that is worn on the heads of the immortals of antiquity.
காண்டற்கு அரிய கடவுள் (கண்டாய்)
is the god who is not easy to be seen by people who do not think of him.
கருதுவார்க்கு ஆற்ற எளியான் (கண்டாய்)
is very easy to obtain a vision of him by those who think of him.
(1) வேண்டுவார் வேண்டுவதே ஈவான் (கண்டாய்)
grants all that devotees desire;

[[ஈவான் denotes the superiority of god; Anything given by a superior person to an inferior person is denoted by the word ஈதல்]]

is in the minds of those who are worthy of receiving his grace by holy practices.

கை கிளரும் வீணை வலவன் (கண்டாய்)
is capable of playing on the vīṇai which is prominent in his hands.
காபாலி (கண்டாய்)
holds a skull in his hand.
மெய் திகழும் சோதி கிளரும் ஞானவிளக்கு (க்கண்டாய்)
is the lamp of spiritual knowledge which illumines his holy body.
மெய் அடியார் உள்ளத்து வித்து (க்கண்டாய்)
is the see in the hearts of sincere votaries.
பை கிளரும் நாகம் அசைத்தான் (கண்டாய்)
tied a cobra whose hood is spread out.
பராபரன் (கண்டாய்)
is the most superior god.
பாசூரான் (கண்டாய்)
is in pācur.
வை கிளரும் கூர் வாட்படையான் (கண்டாய்)
has a battle-axe whose point is shining

சிலந்திக்கு அருள் முன்னம் செய்தான் (கண்டாய்)
granted his grace long ago to a spider
[[A spider that worshipped Civaṉ in tiruvāṉaikkā was born as a prince in the Coḻa family and he became Kōcceṅkaṇāṉ who built seventy temples to Civaṉ; This anecdote is mentioned in many verses in tēvāram]]
திரிபுரங்கள் தீவாய்ப் படுத்தான் (கண்டாய்)
made the fire consume the three cities.
நிலம், துக்கநீர், வளி, தீ, ஆனான் (கண்டாய்)
is himself the earth, accumulated water, air and fire.
1. நிரூபியாய் ரூபியுமாய் நின்றான் (கண்டாய்)
is both formless and having a form.
சலம் துக்க சென்னிச் சடையான் (கண்டாய்)
has a caṭai in his head where water is accumulated.
தாமரையான், செங்கண் மால், தானே (கண்டாய்)
is himself Piramaṉ in the lotus flower and Māl who has red eyes.

Civaṉ dances in the cremation ground where spurge grows luxuriously.
காலனையும் காலால் கடந்தான் (கண்டாய்)
destroyed with his leg even the god of death.
புள்ளி உழைமானின் தோலான் (கண்டாய்)
has a skin of deer named uḻai which has spots;

புலி உரி சேர் ஆடைப் புனிதன் (கண்டாய்)
is the pure person who has an attire of a tiger's skin.

is the father of our murukan which is in centil and who is the husband of vaḷḷi

has wealth which can be compared to a lake full of water.
இன் அடியார்க்கு இன்பம் விளைப்பான் (கண்டாய்)
will bring into being happiness to his sweet votaries.

is dwelling in the beautiful mountain, Kayilai which seems to stroke the sky.
ஆலை சேர் வேள்வி அழித்தான் (கண்டாய்)
destroyed the sacrifice performed in a hall
[[ஆலை is a corruption of சாலை; யாகசாலை is the name by which places in which sacrifices are performed are known]]
அமரர்கள் (தாம்) ஏத்தும் அண்ணல் (கண்டாய்)
is the chief who is praised by the immortals.
பால் நெய் சேர் ஆன் அஞ்சும் ஆடி (கண்டாய்)
is one who bathes in the five products of the cow which include milk and ghee.
பருப்பதத்தான் (கண்டாய்)
is in cricailam (this shrine is in āndhra prādesh. All the three māyaṉmār have sung about this shrine)
பரவை மேனி மாலை ஓர் கூறு உடைய மைந்தன் (கண்டாய்)
is the strong god who has on one half Māl who has a body which is blue like the ocean.

is the Lord who grants all the good in this birth having granted wealth

is sweet if you meditate on him

if we speak about his true nature he is the light of spiritual wisdom

அயன்(அவனும்) 1. மால்(அவனும்) அறியாவண்ணம் ஆரழலாய் நீண்டு உகந்த அண்ணல் (கண்டாய்)
is the god who grew tall and high as an unbearable column of fire, not to be known to ayan and Māl (அவனும் both words have no separate meanings)
துயர் இலங்கை வேந்தன் 2. துளங்க அன்று சோதி 3. விரலால் உற வைத்தான் (கண்டாய்)
fixed firmly by his bright toe on the distant day to make the King of ilaṅkai perturbed by the suffering
பெயர் அவற்குப் பேர் அருள்கள் செய்தான் (கண்டாய்)
granted grace to him who came away from under the mountain.
பேரும் பெரும் படையோடு ஈந்தான் (கண்டாய்)
he bestowed on him the name of īrāvaṇaṉ and a big weapon, a sword.
மயர் உறு வல்வினை நோய் தீர்ப்பான் (கண்டாய்)
will remove the diseases of irresistible acts which are the result of confusion.
