the chief of the people who know the Vētam-s.
மாதின் நாயகன்
the husband of the lady, Umai.
மாதவர் நாயகன்
the master of the great sages.
ஆதிநாயகன்
the master who is the source of all.
ஆதிரை நாயகன்
the chief of the star, Ātirai.
பூதநாயகன்
and the master of the five elements.
புண்ணிய மூர்த்தியே
is the god who is the visible embodiment of all virtuous acts.

will my words reach the ears of people who have a mind as hard as a rock, who cherish with love minor gods who die many times and are born, thinking them to be possessing divinity.
அத்தன் என்று அரியோடு பிரமனும், துத்தியம் செயநின்ற நற்சோதியே
Civaṉ is the brilliant light which is praised by Ari and Piramaṉ as their master.

நூறுகோடி பிரமர்கள் (1) நொந்தினார்
Piramaṉ-s, numbering one hundred crores perished (நூறுகோடி is used in the sense of countless)
ஆறுகோடி நாராயணர் அங்ஙனே
Nārāyaṇar-s, of six crores, shared the same fate.
ஏறு கங்கை மணல் எண் இல் இந்திரர்
Intirar who are countless like the sand of the superior Kaṅkai, also perished.
ஈசன் ஒருவனே ஈறுஇலாதவன்
It is only Civaṉ, the Lord of the universe who does not perish.

ignorant people!
வாது செய்து மயங்கும் மனத்தராய் ஏது சொல்லுவீராகிலும்
if you say whatever you like, having a confused mind by entering into disputation.
யாது ஓர் தேவர் எனப்படுவார்க்கு எலாம்
for those who think who is the eminent god.
மாதேவன்(ன்) அல்லால் தேவர் மற்று இல்லையே
there is no other god except mātēvaṉ(Civaṉ) மாதேவன் makatēvaṉ corrupted into this form.

Just like the tortoise that lives in a well asks a tortoise that lives in the ocean, will the roaring ocean be as great as the well
பாவகாரிகள் தேவதேவன் சிவன் பெருந்தன்மையே பார்ப்பு அரிது என்பர் (ஆல்)
sinners cannot comprehend the greatness of Civaṉ who is superior to other minor gods;

those who have deception.
பேய்வனத்து அமர்வானை
Civaṉ who dwells with desire in the cremation-ground where pēys live.
பிரார்த்தித்தார்க்கு ஈவனை
who grants the wishes of those who pray to him.
இமையோர் முடி தன் அடிச்சாய்வனை
before whose feet the celestial who do not wink, bow their head.
தமக்கு உடல் சீவனைச் சிவனைச் சிந்தியார்களே
will not think of Civaṉ who is the life pervading their bodies.

எரிபெருக்குவர்
People will maintain and cause to increase fire which is in three different shapes.
அவ் எரி (1) ஈசனது உருவருக்கம் (அது) ஆவது உணர்கிலார்
they do not realise that fire is one of the eight forms of Civaṉ.
அரிஅயற்கு அரியானை அயர்த்துப் போய் நரி விருத்தம் (அது) ஆகுவர் நாடரே
people in the country will be equal to the story of the fox, as they completely forget to have a vision of Civaṉ who is difficult to be seen by Ari and Ayaṉ;

people worship the feet of the sun both in the morning and the evening.
அருக்கன் ஆவான் அரன் உரு அல்லனோ
is not the sun one of the eight forms of Araṉ?
(1) இருக்கு நான்மறை ஈசனையே தொழும் கருத்தினை நினையார் கல்மனவரே
stone-hearted people will not understand the idea that the four Vētam-s beginning from Irukku worship only Civaṉ.

பேயர் பேய்முலை உண்டு உயிர் போக்கியமாயன மாயத்துப்பட்டமனத்தர்
people who behave like pēy and whose minds are caught in the guiles of dark-complexioned Māl who drank the milk from the breasts of pūtaṉai, (who came in the form of) a pey and made her lose her life.
தாயினும் நல்ல சங்கரனுக்கு அன்பர் ஆய உள்ளத்து அமுது அருந்தப் பெறார்
do not have the fortune of enjoying the grace which secretes in the hearts of the devotees who cherish with love Cankaraṉ who is more affectionate than the mother.

the hosts of low people who do not have the thought of saving themselves.
அரக்கன் வல்அரட்டு ஆங்கு ஒழித்து ஆர் அருள் பெருக்கச் செய்த பிரான் பெருந்தன்மையை அருத்திசெய்து அறியப்பெறுகின்றிலர்
do not know the magnanimity of the master who granted his rare grace in an abundant measure to the arakkaṉ, Irāvaṇaṉ after destroying his mischief of lifting Kayilai, when he cherished Civaṉ with love.
