காசனை
Civaṉ who has the blot of the blackness of the poison

கனலை
who is the fire.
கதிர் மாமணித் தேசனை
who has the lustre of a big gem that spreads rays.

a few senseless persons will not praise

shall I forget.
புந்திக்கு விளக்கு ஆயபுராணனை
Civaṉ the ancient god, who is the illuminating light to my mind.
சந்திக்கண் நடம் ஆடும் சதுரனை
the clever god who dances at night.
அந்தி வண்ணனை
who has the colour of the evening sky.
ஆரழல் மூர்த்தியை
who has a visible form of fire which is unbearable.
வந்து என் உள்ளம் கொண்டானை
who condescended to come to me and occupied my mind?

ஈசன் ஈசன் என்று என்று அரற்றுவன்
I would shout with excitement many times uttering the name, icaṉ icaṉ.
ஈசன் தான் என் மனத்திற் பிரிவு இலன்
Civaṉ is in my mind without leaving it.
ஈசன் தன்னையும் என் மனத்துக்கொண்டு
After having accepted Civaṉ also in my mind.
ஈசன் தன்னையும் யான் மறக்கிற்பனே
Have I got strength to forget Civaṉ himself?

ஈசன் தன்னை அறிந்தது அறிந்தனன்
I understood that Civaṉ recognised me and granted his grace.
ஈசன் சேவடி (1) ஏற்றப் பெறுதலால்
as the red feet of Civaṉ has been established (in my mind).
(2) ஈசன் சேவடி ஏத்தப் பெற்றேன்
I had the good fortune of praising the red feet of Civaṉ.
இனி ஈசன் தன்னையும் யான் மறக்கிற்பனே
Have I got the strength to forget Civaṉ himself hereafter?

Civaṉ who is as sweet as honey.
பாலினை
who gives nourishment to the body like milk.
திங்களை
who is the noon.
ஞாயிற்றை
who is the sun.
வானவெண்மதிசூடிய மைந்தனை
who is the youth who wears the white crescent that shines in the sky.

have I got the strength to forget the embodiment of spiritual wisdom who burnt by the scorching fire; cupid who has as his reigning season the spring.

கன்னலை
the sugar-cane who is Civaṉ.
கரும்பு ஊறிய தேறலை
the sweet juice that springs in the sugar-cane.
மின்னனை
who is in the form of lightning.
மின்அனைய உருவனை
who has a form that is brilliant like the lightning.
பொன்னனை
who is as valuable as gold.
மணிக்குன்று பிறங்கிய என்னனை
who is my possession and who is superior to everything like the hill of rubies.

shall I have the strength to forget?
கரும்பினை
Civaṉ who is the juices of sugar-cane.
கட்டியை
who is a jaggery.
கந்தமாமலர்ச் சுரும்பினை
the bees that drink the honey in the big fragrant flower.
சுடர்ச் சோதியுள் சோதியை
who is the brilliance that gives brilliance to the light.
அரும்பினில் பெரும்போதுகொண்டு
accepting the big buds about to blossom among the buds.
ஆய்மலர் விரும்பும் ஈசனை
and who desires beautiful flowers.

வஞ்சனேன் இனி யான் மறக்கிற்பனே
shall I who has deceit in me have the strength to forget hereafter.
துஞ்சும்போதும் சுடர்விடு சோதியை
the light divine that illumines my mind even when I am asleep.
நெஞ்சுள் நின்று நினைப்பிக்கும் நீதியை
who is the form of right conduct and cause me to think of him remaining in my mind.
நஞ்சு கண்டத்து அடக்கிய நம்பனை
and Civaṉ who controlled the poison in his neck.

புதியபூவினை
Civaṉ who is the fresh flower.
புண்ணிய நாதனை
the master who is the embodiment of all virtuous deeds.
நிதியை
who is my treasure hoard.
நீதியை
who is the moral conduct.
நித்திலக்குன்றினை
who is a hill of pearls
கதியை
who is the higher state of existence to those who approach him.
கண்டம் கறுத்த கடவுளை
who is the god whose neck is black.
மதியை
who is my intellect.
மைந்தனை
and who is the strong youth?

shall I have the strength to forget.
கருகு கார்முகில் போல்வது ஓர் கண்டனை
Civaṉ whose neck resembles the sable cloud in the rainy season.
உருவநோக்கு இயை ஊழி முதல்வனை
who is the cause of all things, who survives all the aeons, and who has beautiful eyes.
