சிட்டனை: god who is well-versed in vedic lore
சிவனை: who has the name of Civaṉ
செழுஞ்சோதியை: who is the bright light
அட்டமூர்த்தியை: who has eight visible forms.
ஆல நிழல் அமர் பட்டனை: the preceptor who sat under the shade of the banyan tree;; [[PP: ஆல நிழற் பட்டனுக்கு
(tiruvicaippā, tiruppallāṇṭu, 3)]]
திருப்பாண்டிக் கொடு முடி நட்டனைத் தொழ: to worship with joined hands the god who is the dancer in Tiruppāṇṭikkoṭumuṭi.
நம் வினை நாசம்(ஏ): our acts, good and bad will perish.

மட நெஞ்சமே: my ignorant mind!
பிரமன் மால் அறியாத பெருமையன்: Civaṉ whose greatness Piramaṉ and Māl could not know.
தருமம் ஆகிய தத்துவன்: the ultimate reality who is the prescribed conduct.
எம்பிரான்: our master.
பரமனார்: and the supreme being.
உறை பாண்டிக் கொடு முடி கருமமாகத் தொழு: worship with joined hands as a religious duty Pāṇṭikkoṭumuṭi where he dwells.

ஒரு பேதை: my only daughter between the ages of five and seven.
ஊசலாள் அல்லள்: does not enjoy playing in the swing.
ஒண் கழலாள் அல்லள்: does not play with the molucca beans.
நேசம் ஆம் திருப்பாண்டிக் கொடு முடி ஈசனே இத்தனை அல்லது பேசும் ஆறு அறியாள்: does not know to talk about anything else except this much, the Lord of the universe in Tiruppāṇṭikkoṭumuṭi which is a very eminent shrine.

தூண்டிய சுடர் (போல்) ஒக்கும் சோதியான்: Civaṉ who is like the brilliant light that is trimmed.
காண்டலும் (1) எளியான் அடியார்கட்கு: is very easy to obtain vision for his devotees.
பாண்டிக் கொடு முடி மேய பரமனைக் காண்டும் என்பவர்க்கு (2) ஏதும் கருத்து ஒணான்: is at the same difficult to imagine for those who say we will see him by our own efforts the supreme being in Pāṇṭikkoṭumuti, even a little.; [[NOTE_GRAM: போல்: an expletive, urai acai]]; [[VAR: (1) எளியான் (2) எய்தும் கருத்தினான்]]

நெருக்கி அம் முடி நின்று இசை வானவர் இருக்கொடும் பணிந்து ஏத்த இருந்தவன்: Civaṉ who remained to be bowed and praised with the help of the irukku vētam by the famous celestials whose crowns are set close to one another.
திருக்கொடு(ம்) முடி என்றலும்: as soon as one says Tirukkoṭumuṭi; [[கொடும்முடி: the underlined letter is augmentation for rhythm.]]
(1) தீவினைக் கருக் கெடும்: the embryo of evil acts will perish.
இது கைகண்ட யோகமே: this is ((a)) sovereign remedy, tried and found to be efficacious.; [[Variant reading: (1) தீவினைக் கருக் கெடும்]]
