சங்கு உலாம் முன்கைத் தையல் ஓர் பாகத்தன்: Civaṉ who has a young lady on whose forearm bangles are moving up and down; [[Originally bangles were made of conch.]]
வெம் குலாம் மதவேழம் வெகுண்டவன்: who flayed the skin of a superior and cruel elephant, by his anger
கொங்கு உலாம் பொழிற் கோடிகாவா என: if one says `the Lord in Kotikā which has gardens which are full of honey!'
எங்கு(உம்) இலாதது ஓர் இன்பம் வந்து எய்தும்: Happiness which could not be had anywhere else will come to him of its own accord; [[எங்கும் the உம் has been dropped for the sake of metre]]

வாடி வாழ்வது என் ஆவது: what is the use of this life undergoing sufferings in many ways?
மாதர் பால் ஓடி வாழ் வினை உள்கி: thinking of a true and happy life by running towards women and leading a life in company with him?
நீர் நாள் தொறும் கோடி காவனைக் கூறீரேல்: if you do not utter the names of the Lord in Kōṭikā daily
கூறினேன்: I shall tell you definetely
பாடி காவலில் பட்டுக் கழிதிர்: you will undergo punishment enforced by a tribunal and pass your life without any benefit to you

{$} முல்லை நல் முறுவல் உமை பங்கனார்: Civaṉ who has as his half Umai of beautiful teeth resembling the buds of arabian jasmine
தில்லை அம்பலத்தில் உறை செல்வனார்: who possesses the wealth of grace and resides in the assembly hall in tillai
கொல்லை ஏற்றினர்: who has a bull of the forest tract
1. கோடி காவா என்று அங்கு ஒல்லை ஏத்துவார்க்கு ஊனம் ஒன்று இல்லை: There will not be the slightest fault to those who praise early in their lives saying `the Lord in Kōṭikā!'; [[செல்வம் here means beautitude]]; [[Variant reading: 1. கோடிகாவே]]

மன் நன்னுதல் நாவளம் பெறுமாறும்: the girl with a forehead which has undying beauty, thinking the tongue will be good if it speaks about the fame of the Lord
ஆம் அளம் சொல்லி அன்பு செயின் அல்லால்: unless we are affectionate towards him, praising him to our ulmost capacity; [[ஆம் அளவும் have become ஆம் ஆளம்]]
கோமளம் சடைக் கோடிகாவா என: telling always the `Lord in Kōṭikā who has a beautiful caṭai'
1. இன்று எனை 2. ஏவள் (என) அவ் ஏழை ஏசும்: that girl abuses me today `who is she to speak such words?; [[This is the speech of the foster-mother addressed to her daughter who denided her words as she (daughter) was infatucted with love]]; [[Variant reading: 1. நின்று 2. மேவ). ]]

வீறு தான் சிலர் பெறுவார் ஆகிலும்: Though some girls may receive distinctive excellence
நாறு பூங்கொன்றை தான் மிக நல்கானேல்: if God does not give me in a large quantity the fragrant and beautiful koṉṟai
கோடிகா உளாய் என்று கூறுவேன் மால் ஏறுவேன்: I shall always say `the Lord in Kōṭika', and my infatuation towards him will increase
நும்மால் ஏசப்படுவனோ: Shall I be railed at by you?

நாடி நாரணன் நான் முகன் வானவர் தேடி ஏசறவும் தெரியாதது ஓர் கோடி காவனைக் கூறாத நாள் எலாம் பாடி காவலில் பட்டுக் கழியுமே: all the days in which one did not praise the Lord in Kōṭika who could not be known after suffering by searching for him by nāranaṉ, Piramaṉ of four faces and inhabitants of heaven will be spent in undergoing punishment enforced by a tribunal and will be wasted

வரங்களால் வரையை எடுத்தான் தனை, அரங்க ஊன்றி அருள் செய்த அப்பன் ஊர்: the place of the father who granted his grace after pressing down with his toe to destroy (Irāvaṇaṉ) who lifted the mountain (Kailācam) with the help of strength he got from the boons.
குரங்கு சேர் பொழிற் கோடிகா என மனத்து ஏதங்கள் தீர இரங்குவேன்: I shall repent so that the defects in my mind may be removed from me by saying, `the Lord in Kōṭika where monkeys are in large numbers'
