மட நெஞ்சமே
my ignorant mind!
ஊறு விரும்பிவிடேல்
do not waste your life desiring ruin.
கலந்தார்க்கு அவன் கரும்பின் ஊறல் (கண்டாய்)
he is as sweet as the juice of sugar-cane to those who are united with him
இரும்பின் ஊறல் அறாதது ஓர் வெண்டலை எறும்பியூர் மலையான் எங்கள் ஈசனே
our Lord who is in the hillock in eṟumpiyūr and has a white skull which is as strong as iron and from which fat is oozing.

பிறங்கு செஞ்சடைப் பிஞ்ஞகன்
the destroyer who has a shining red caṭai
பேணு சீர்க் கறங்கு பூதகணம் உடைக் கண்ணுதல்
the god with a frontal eye who has a group of pūtams which dance revolving round him and which have a fame desired by all
நறுங்குழல் மடவாளொடு நாள் தொறும் எறும்பியூர் மலையான் எங்கள் ஈசனே
our Lord dwells always in the hillock of eṟumpiyūr along with a young lady of fragrant tresses of hair. (naṟunkuḻal nāyaki is the name of the goddess in this shrine)

Civaṉ is the ambrosia to the celestials
தானவர்க்கு இன்சுவை
is the sweet taste to the acurar
புரிந்த செஞ்சடைப் புண்ணியன்
the embodiment of all virtuous acts who has a fastened red catai
கண்ணுதல்
has a frontal eye
பூண் பொருந்து முலை மங்கை நல்லாளொடும் எங்கள் ஈசன் எறும்பியூர் மலையான்
our God, civan, is in the hillock of eṟumpiyūr with a good lady of distinction who wears on her breats ornaments.

the spotless god with a neck of blue colour
எம் இறை
our master
மறங்கொள் வேல் கண்ணிவாள் நுதல் பாகமாய்
Having a lady of bright forehead and eyes resembling in shape the wrathful vēl
அறம் புரிந்து அருள் செய்த எம் அம் கணன்
our Civaṉ who has beautiful eyes and who bestowed his grace on devotees, desiring righteousness
எறும்பியூர் மலையான் எங்கள் ஈசன்
our Lord is in the hillock in eṟumpiyūr

நறும் பொன் நாள் மலர்க் கொன்றையும் நாகமும் துறும்பு செஞ்சடைத் தூமதி 1. வைத்து
Having placed the spotless crescent on the red caṭai in which cobras and koṉṟai flowers that blossomed in the early morning and resemble fine gold, are close to each other
[[நாகம் may mean also long-leaved two sepelled gamboge: it is commonly called சுரபுன்னை]]
[[துறும்பு is a rare word;]]
[[PP: அடும்பும் கொன்றையும் வன்னியும் மத்தமும், துடும்பல் செய்சடை (appar, mēlaittirukkāṭṭuppaḷḷi, 6)]]

வான் உறும் பொன் மால் வரைப் பேதையொடு ஊர்தொறும் எறும்பியூர் மலையான் எங்கள் ஈசனே
our Lord, Civaṉ, who is in every village along with a lady, the daughter of the big and golden mountain of Kayilai on which clouds settle, is in the hillock of eṟumpiyūr

கறும்பி ஊர்வன ஐந்து காயத்தில் உள
there are five senses in the body, which eat one little by little and give an itching sensation.
திறம்பி ஊர்வன மற்றும் பல உள
and there are many other things which move slowly and swerve from the right path
குறும்பி ஊர்வது ஓர் கூட்டகத்து இட்டு எனை எறும்பியூர் அரன் செய்த இயற்கையே
this is the nature of Civaṉ in eṟumpiyūr by casting me into a body in which all impurities are moving.

(மற்று) இது பேர் இடர்
this body is the cause for sufferings
மறந்து நாள் தொறும் திறம்பி நீ நினையேல்
forgetting god, do not think of anything daily, deviating from the right path
புறம் செய் கோலக் குரம்பையில் இட்டு எனை எறும்பியூர் அரன் செய்த இயற்கையே
That is the nature of araṉ in eṟumpiyūr in casting me into a body which is beautiful to outward appearance

இன்பமும் பிறப்பும் இறப்பி(ன்)னொடு துன்பமும் உடனே வைத்த சோதியான்
the effulgent light which created pleasure, birth, death and suffering simultaneously
எறும்பியூர் ஈசன் அன்பனே, அரனே என்று அரற்றுவார்க்கு இன்பன் ஆகும்
the Lord in eṟumpiyūr will be granting happiness to those who shout with excitement one who is worthy of love!, araṉ

கண் நிறைந்த கன பவளத்திறள்
the heap of weighty coral which is pleasing to the eye.
விண் நிறைந்த விரிசுடர்ச் சோதியான்
the light that sheds brightness and pervaded the sky
உள் நிறைந்து உருவாய் உயிர் ஆயவன்
and Civaṉ who is the life and the body pervading the mind.
எண் நிறைந்த எறும்பியூர் ஈசனே
is the Lord in eṟumpiyūr who completely occupies my mind.

நிறம் கொள் மால்வரை ஊன்றி எடுத்தலும்
as soon as (arakkaṉ) lifted the white-coloured big mountain of Kayilai by fixing his hands firmly
நறுங்குழல் மடவாள் நடுக்கு எய்திட
when the lady with fragrant tresses of hair shook with fear
எறும்பியூர் மலை எம் இறை மறம் கொள் வாள் அரக்கன் வலி வாட்டினான்
our master in the hillock of Eṟumpiyūr destroyed the strength of the arakkaṉ who had a valourous sword.
