Civaṉ who bestowed his rare grace on Takkaṉ who was connected in relationship as father-in-law, after laying waste the big sacrifice performed by him
கொங்கு அலர்க் குழல் கொம்பு அனையாளொடு மங்கலக்குடிமேய மணாளன்
is the bridegroom who is dwelling with pleasure in Maṅkalakkuṭi with a lady as tender as a branch and who has tresses of hair on which are tucked fragrant flowers.

காவிரியின் வடகரைக் காண் தகு மாவிரியும் பொழில் மங்கலக்குடி
in maṅkalakkuṭi which has large mango-groves which are pleasing to look at, and situated on the north bank of the Kāviri
தேவு அரியும் பிரமனும் தேட ஒணாத் தூ எரிச் சுடர்ச் சோதியுள் சோதி
Civaṉ who is the inner light in the soul, with a flame that emits pure light which could not be known by Māl, of divinity and Piramaṉ, though they searched for him, (is seated majestically)

வார் கடல் சூழ் மங்கலக்குடி மஞ்சன்
the god of great strength in maṅkalakkuṭi surrounded by extensive tanks
நஞ்சம் ஆர் அமுதாக நயந்து கொண்டு
drinking the poison with pleasure as the rare nectar
அஞ்சும் ஆடல் அமர்ந்து
pleased with being bathed in the five products of the cow
அடியேனுடை நெஞ்சம் ஆலயமாகக் கொண்டு நின்றதே
what a wonder tha he had as temple his slaves mind and stayed there permanently

செல்வம் மல்கு திருமங்கலக்குடி
tirumaṅkalakkuṭi of increasing wealth.
செல்வமல்கு சிவ நியமத்தராய்
possessing the wealth of grace and the conduct laid down in caivaite works.
செல்வம் மல்கு செழு மறையோர் தொழ
to be worshipped by properous brahmins of increasing wealth
செல்வன் தேவியொடும் திகழ் கோயிலே
is the temple where Civaṉ is prominent with his consort.

மண்னுசீர் மங்கலக்குடி மன்னிய, பின்னுவார்சடைப் பிஞ்ஞகன் தன் பெயர், உன்னுவாரும் உரைக்கவல்லார்களும்
those who are able to fixe their thoughts on, and repeat the names of, Civaṉ who has the function of destruction, who has a long and intertwining caṭai and who is dwelling permanently in maṅkalakkuṭi possessing everlasting fame
தொடர்வு எய்த நன்னெறி துன்னுவார்
will reach the righteous path as they become familiar with knowledge of Civaṉ.

Civaṉ the origin of everything, who is in maṅkalakkuṭi in which beautiful ladies live.
அண்டர்கள் நாயகன்
the chief of the tēvar
வேத நாயகன்
the chief who is spoken often in vētam
வேதியர் நாயகன்
the chief of the brahmins
பூத நாயகன்
and the master of all living beings
புண்ணிய மூர்த்தி
has a form which is the embodiment of all virtues

விண்ட தாதையைத் தாள் அற வீசிய, சண்ட நாயகனுக்கு அருள் செய்தவன்
God who bestowed his grace on caṇṭanāyakaṉ who cut the feet of his father who was opposed to his acts.
வண்டு சேர் பொழில் மங்கலக்குடி, துண்டமாமதி சூடிய சோதியே
is the light that wore on its head a big crescent in maṅkalakkuṭi which has gardens where bees swarm. As maṅkalakkuṭi is very near to ceyñalūr, the birth place of canṭekar, he is mentioned in this verse.

கூசுவார் அலர், குண்டர், குணம் இலர், நேசம் ஏதும் இலாதவர் நீசர்கள், மாசர் பால்
from the association of jains who had faults and bodily dirty, low people, who did not have the slightest love, who had no good qualities, mean men and who were not ashamed of performing evil acts
மங்கலக்குடி மேவிய ஈசன் வேறு படுக்க உய்ந்தேன்
I saved myself when Civaṉ who is in maṅkalakkuṭi separated me from them. (This is an autobiographical incident)

மங்கலக்குடியான் கயிலைம் மலை(அங்கு) அலைத்து எடுக்குற்ற அரக்கர் கோன் தன் கரத்தொடு தாள் தலை தோள் தகர்ந்து
as the shoulders, head, feet and hands of the King of arrakar who shook and lifted the mountain, Kayilai, belonging to the god in maṅkalakkuṭi, were broken to pieces.
(அங்கு) அலைத்து அழுது நன்று உய்ந்தனன்
saved himself greatly by beating himself for his folly and by weeping.
