மொய் முத்து ஊரும் புனல் அரிசிற்கரைப் புத்தூரன் அடி போற்றி என்பார் எலாம்
all those who pray [invoking] the feet of Civaṉ in Puttūr on the bank of the river Aricil which has water on which pearls move slowly thronging
பொய்த்து ஊரும் புலன் ஐந்தொடு புல்கிய மைத்து ஊரும் வினைமாற்றவும் வல்லரே
have the ability to remove the Karmam-s which have mastery over the soul, and are black in colour and are combined with the five sense-perceptions which take upon themselves untruth and lead to destruction.

பிறைக்க(ண்)ணிச்சடை எம்பெருமான் என்று, கறைக் கணித்தவர்
those devotees who realised their faults listing them and praying, `our Lord who has a catai on which the crescent is like a chaplet'.
கண்டவணக்கத்தாய்
are really worthy of paying obeisance.
உறக்கணித்து உருகா மனத்தார்களைப் புறக்கணித்திடும் புத்தூர்ப் புனிதன்
the holy god in Puttūr will neglect those who do not melt in their hearts thinking much of the fame of Civaṉ.

அரிசிலின் கரைமேல் அணி ஆர்தரு புரிசை நம் திருப்புத்தூர்ப் புனிதனைப் பரிசொடும் பரவிப் பணிவார்க்கு எலாம்
to all those who pay obeisance by praising in the proper manner our pure and holy Civaṉ in Puttūr which has a beautiful wall of fortification and is situated on the bank of the river Aricil.
துரிசு இல் நன்னெறி தோன்றிடும்
the good and faultless way leading to eternal bliss, will appear before them.

my heart
நினைந்து
thinking of,
வேதனை
Civaṉ who chants the vetams.
மிகு வீணையில் மேவிய கீதனை
who is the music that is produced in the superior vīṇai.
கிளரும் நறுங்கொன்றை அம் போதனை
who adorns himself with the brilliant and fragrant koṉṟai flowers.
புனல் சூழ்ந்த புத்தூரனை
who is in puttur surrounded by water.
நாதனை
and the Lord.
நையும்
loses its hardness and becomes soft.

அருப்புப்போல் முலையார் அல்லல் வாழ்க்கை மேல் விருப்புச்சேர் நிலைவிட்டு
giving up the state of desiring the life of sufferings by living with women who have breasts like buds.
நல் இட்டமாய்
with good piety.
திருப்புத்தூரனைச் சிந்தை செயச் செய
when I meditate upon Civaṉ in tiruputtur without ceasing.
கருப்புச் சாற்றிலும் அண்ணிக்கும்
he is sweeter than the juice of the sugar-cane.

(People of this world!) you know this.

பாம்பொடுமதியும் பூம் புனலும் படர் புன் சடைப் பொதிந்த புத்தூருளான்
Civaṉ is in puttūr who has concealed the cobra, crescent and beautiful water on the spreading golden catai.
நாம் பணிந்து அடி நாள் தொறும் போற்றி
when we, his devotee fall at his feet and praise him daily.
சாம்பல் என்பு 1. தனக்கு அணி ஆகுமே
holy ash and bones, add beauty to him. (போற்றிடப் புத்தூர் உளான் is the syntactical link)

கனல் அங்கை தனில் ஏந்தி வெங்காட்டிடை
-in the hot cremation ground holding fire in the palm.
அனல் அங்கு எய்தி நின்று ஆடுவர் பாடுவர்
will dance in the fire reaching it, and will sing.
1. மினல் அம் செஞ்சடை மேல் 2. பிறையும் தரு புனலும் சூடுவர் (போலும்) புத்தூரரே
Civaṉ in puttūr will adorn his red catai which is matted, a crescent and water descending from heaven.

காற்றினும் கடிதாக நடப்பது ஓர் ஏற்றினும்(ம்) இசைந்து ஏறுவர்
will ride with desire on a bull which has a gait faster than the wind.
என் பொடு நீற்றினை அணிவர்
will adorn himself with bones and sacred ash.
நினை வாய்த்தமைப் போற்றி என்பவர்க்கு அன்பர் புத்தூரர்
Civaṉ in puttūr loves those who say `Let you protect me, with good intention.

முன்னும் முப்புரம் செற்றனராயினும்
though he destroyed the three cities in the past.
1. அலந்து அடைந்தார்க்கு எலாம் அன்னம் 2. ஒப்பர்
is like the food which removes hunger, to those who reach him having suffered much.
விரிசடை மின்னும் ஒப்பர்
has a spread out caṭai which is like the brilliant lightning.
மேனி செம்பொன்னும் ஒப்பர் புத்தூர் எம் புனிதர்
our pure Lord in puttūr has a body glittering like pure gold.

செருத்தனால் தன தேர் செல உய்த்திடும் கருத்தனாய்
with the idea of driving his chariot to fight enemies.
கயிலை எடுத்தான் உடல் பருத்த தோள் கெடப் பாதத்து ஒரு விரல் பொருத்தினார் பொழில் ஆர்ந்த புத்தூரர்
Civaṉ in puttūr which is full of gardens, fixed one toe to destroy the strength of the big shoulders and the body of the arakkaṉ who lifted Kayilai.
