{$} ஏதும் ஒன்றும் அறிவிலர் ஆயினும்
if people who do not know even a little about anything.
ஓதி அஞ்சு எழுத்தும்(ம்) உணர்வார்கட்கு
to those who understand the meaning of the mantiram of five letters, chanting them.
பேதம் இன்றி
without making any distinction.
அவரவர் உள்ளத்தே
in the hearts of such people individually.
மாதும் தாமும் மகிழ்வர் மாற்பேறரே
the Lord in Māṟpēṟu will dwell with joy, along with the lady, Umai.

{$} நெஞ்சே
my mind!
அரன் நாமங்கள் நிச்சலும் நினையாய் வினைபோய் அற
you meditate on the name of Araṉ (Civaṉ) daily, for your acts to leave you and meet with destruction.
அச்சம் இல்லை
there is no cause for fear.
கச்சமாவிடம் உண்ட கண்டா என
if you say the Lord who has a neck which consumed the poison which was bitter in taste (கச்ச-கைத்த; போலி)
வைத்த மாநிதி ஆவர் மாற்பேறரே
the Lord in māṟpēṟu will be useful like the great hoarded wealth

{$} சாத்திரம் பலபேசும் சழக்கர்காள்
wicked people who talk about many religious treatises and branches of knowledge!
கோத்திரமும் குலமும் கொண்டு என் செய்வீர்
what could you do with high lineage and noble birth?
பாத்திரம் சிவம் என்று பணிதிரேல்
if you pay homage to civam who is worthy of it.
(1) மாத்திரைக்குள் அருளும் மாற்பேறரே
the Lord in māṟpēṟu will grant his grace within an instant.

இருந்து சொல்லுவன்
I tell you after deep pondering.
கேண்மின்கள்
listen to what I say.
அருந்தவம் தரும் அஞ்சு எழுத்து ஓதினால்
if you utter the mantiram of five letters it will give you the fruit of austere penance.
பொருந்து நோய் பிணிபோகத் துரப்பது ஓர் மருந்தும் ஆகுவர் மன்னும் மாற்பேறரே
Civaṉ who dwells permanently in māṟpēṟu will also be the remedy to drive away the diseases of the body and mental disorders completely.

I shall announce publicly to be known to all of you.
கேண்மின்
listen.
ஏற்றின் மேல் வருவான் கழல் ஏத்தினால்
if you praise the feet of Civaṉ who comes riding on a bull.
கூற்றை நீக்கி
preventing the god of death from taking away your lives.
குறைவு அறுத்து
completely removing your deficiencies
ஆள்வது ஓர் மாற்று இலாச் செம் பொன் ஆவர் மாற்பேறரே
the Lord in māṟpēṟu will be the gold of limitless degree of fineness, and will admit you into his grace.

{$} ஈட்டும் மாநிதி சால கிழக்கினும்
if you lose very much the great wealth which you earned by strenous efforts.
வீட்டும் காலன் விரைய அழைக்கினும்
and if the Kālaṉ (god of death) whose duty is to kill beings quickly, call you
காட்டில் மாநடம் ஆடுவாய் கா' எனில்
if you say the Lord who performs a great dance in the cremation-ground! protect me'
வாட்டம் தீர்க்கவும் வல்லர் மாற்பேறரே
the Lord in māṟpēṟu is also capable of removing both the distresses.

{$} ஐயனே! அரனே! என்று அரற்றினால் உய்யலாம்
(People of this world!) you can save yourselves if you cry aloud my master araṉ!
உலகத்தவர் பேணுவர்
the people of this world will esteem you with regard.
செய்ய பாதம் இரண்டும் நினையவே
if you meditate on both the red feet.
வையம் ஆளவும் வைப்பர் மாற்பேறரே
the Lord in māṟpēṟu will bestow on you the greatest grace of ruling over the world, too.

{$} உந்திச்சென்று மலையை எடுத்தவன் சந்து தோளொடு தாள்இற ஊன்றினான் மந்திபாய் பொழில் சூழும் மாற்பேறு என
if one says, Māṟpēṟu surrounded by gardens where female monkeys jump, belonging to Civaṉ, who pressed down to crush the feet, shoulders and joints of the arakkaṉ who went near driving his chariot and lifted the mountain
[[உந்தி as pride goaded him is another meaning]]
அந்தம் இல்லது ஓர் இன்பம் அணுகுமே
happiness which has no end will approach you.
