{$} நீர்சென்று திருவேட்களத்துள் உறை துன்று பொற்சடையானைத் தொழுமின்
people of the world! you go and worship the Lord of crowded golden matted locks who resides in tiruvētkaḷam.
நன்றும் நாள்தொறும் நம்வினைபோய் அறும்
your sins will greatly go away from us daily and become extinct.
என்றும் இன்பம் தழைக்க இருக்கலாம்
you can live ever with increasing happiness.
{5:42}__2+
{$} கருப்பு வெஞ்சிலைக் காமனைக் காய்ந்தவன்
one who destroyed the Kāmaṉ holding a cruel bow of sugar-cane.
பொருப்பு வெஞ்சிலையால் புரம் செற்றவன்
one who destroyed the cities with the cruel bow made of a mountain
விருப்பன் மேவிய வேட்களம் கைதொழுது இருப்பனாகில்
If I live worshipping with my folded hands vētkaḷam desired by the Lord of great attachment towards his devotees.
எனக்கு இடர்இல்லை
there will be no trouble for me.
{5:42}__3+
{$} வேட்களத்து உறை வேதியம் எம்சிறை
the vētiyaṉ; (one who gave out the vētams; one who is considered the highest among the tēvars) our Lord (vēṭkaḷam is fixed in rhyme (எதுகை))
ஆக்கள் ஏறுவர்
will ride upon bulls; (the bulls are of several kinds; the bull which is the embodiment of aṟam, tirumāl who carried him during the destruction of the three cities and intiraṉ; so the plural is used)
ஆன் அஞ்சும் ஆடுவர்
he will bathe himself in all the five products got from the cow (it is called in sanskrit pañcakavviyam)
பூக்கள் கொண்டு அவன் பொன்அடி போற்றினால்
if we worship his feet as valuable as gold, with flowers.
கறைமிடற்று அண்ணல் நம்மைக்காப்பர்
the Lord with a black neck will protect us.
{5:42}__4+
{$} அல்லல் இல்லை; அருவினைஇல்லை
there will no affliction for us; there will no bonds which are difficult to be removed.
மல்கு வெண்பிறை சூடும் மணாளனார்
one who is as happy as the bridegroom and wears a growing white crescent.
செல்வனார்
the Lord of all riches.
திருவேட்களம் கைதொழவல்லராகில்
if people are capable of worshipping with their hands tiruvēṭkaḷam.
அதுவழி; காண்மின்
that is the right path; you clearly see that.
{5:42}__5+
{$} இனிதுன்பம் இல்லை
hereafter there no will be suffering of being born again.
துயர்இல்லை ஆம்
there will be no suffering in this birth.
நம்பனாகிய நன்மணி கண்டனார்
one who has a neck as blue as a faultless sapphire, and who is dependable.
எம்பொனாருறைவேட்கள நன்னகர் இன்பன்
the Lord who is the embodiment of happiness and who is my wealth in gold, residing in the good city of vētkaḷam
சேவடி ஏத்தி இருப்பதே (கடன்)
our duty is to praise his red feet (The rhyme in this verse is peculiar)

{$} கட்டப் பட்டுக் கவலையில் வீழாதே
Having undergone hardships and not falling into anxieties(worries)
பொட்ட வல்உயிர் போவதன் முன்னம்
before the life which is capable of doing many things ebbs out of this body quickly.
சிட்டனார் திருவேட்களம் கைதொழ
when we worship with the hands tiruvēṭkaḷam of the Lord who is the embodiment of knowledge.
பட்டவல்வினையாயினபாறும்
the violent actions done and appearing to give their fruits will flee away.
{5:42}__7+
{$} வட்டமென்முலையாள் உமை பங்கனார்
the Lord who has on his half Umai who has round and soft breasts.
எட்டும் ஒன்றும் இரண்டும் மூன்று(ம்) ஆயினார்
one who has the eight forms, the supreme one, who is two by himself and his consort, the trinity (the creator, protector and destroyer) (Eight forms: the five elements, the sun, and the moon, and the person who performs sacrifices; it is called ashtamūrttam)
சிட்டர் சேர் திருவேட்களம் கைதொழுது
worshipping with the hands tiruvēṭkaḷam where learned men gather together.
இட்டமாகி! இரு
Be desiring that.
மடநெஞ்சமே
my ignorant mind!

{$} நட்டம் ஆடிய நம்பனை
the one whom we can depend upon.
வட்டவார்முலையாள் உமை பங்கனார்
one who has Umai who has round breasts on which a bodice is worn
சிட்டனார்
the embodiment of all knowledge.
திருவேட்களம் தன்னை - இட்டத்தால் இனிதாக நினைமினோ
think with pleasure by your inclinations of mind, his residence, tiruvēṭkaḷam.
{5:42}__9+
{$} வட்டமாமதில் மூன்று உடை (ய) வல் அரண்
the strong defences which had big and circular walls of enclosure.
சுட்டகொள்கையர் ஆயினும்
Though he has burnt them according to a principle.
பொன் திருவேட்களச் செல்வர்
the Lord who is in beautiful tiruvēṭkaḷam
சூழ்ந்தவர் குட்ட வல்வினை தீர்த்துக்குளிர்விக்கும் சிட்டர்
he is the embodiment of learning who will console those who circumambulate him, removing their strong sins which are deep-rooted.
{5:42}__10+
{$} சேடனார் உறையும் செழு மாமலை ஓடி ஆங்கு எடுத்தான்
one who removed the big and fertile mountain on which the great god resides, running towards it.
முடிபத்து இறவாட ஊன்றி மலரடி வாங்கிய
who pressed with his feet to make (rāvaṇaṉ) perish and his ten heads to be crushed, and then removed the lotus feet.
வேடனார் உறை வேட்களம் சேர்மின்
people of this world! reach vēṭkaḷam where the Lord who once assumed the form of a hunter resides.
[[The name of the Lord in Vēṭkaḷam is Pācupaticurar one who gave pācupatam, a weapon, to arjunaṉ; வேடனார் hints that.]]
