Ēkampaṉār in Kacci which has fragrant flower garden, and never-ceasing bustle due to shouting and dancing, in the flourishing festivals where the flag is hoisted in temples.
பொடிகள் பூசிய பூந்துருத்திந் நகர் அடிகள் சேவடிக்கீழ் இருப்பதே
we stay under the lotus red feet of Civaṉ who besmears himself with sacred ash and who is in the city of Pūnturutti

though he discharged weapons in the fight with Pārttaṉ
பூத்த நீள் பொழிற் பூந்துருத்திந் நகர்த் தீர்த்தன் சேவடிக் கீழ் நாம் இருப்பதே
we stay under the lotus red feet of pure Civaṉ who is in the city of Pūnturutti which has long flower-gardens.

Civaṉ kept a lady on one half, esteeming her highly
காதலால் கரந்தான் சடைக் கங்கையை
he concealed Kankai in his catai out of love towards living beings.
பூத நாயகன்

பூந்துருத்திந் நகர்க்கு ஆதி சேவடிக் கீழ் நாம் இருப்பதே
we stay under the lotus-red feet of the primordial Civaṉ who dwells in the city of Pūnturutti

Being the three gods, Piramaṉ, Māl and uruttiraṉ and being their chief and protector of all.
[[மூவன் is a rare usage;
மூவர் is the correct form]]
கடுங்காலனைக் காய்ந்தவன்
he killed the terrible god of death.
பூவின் நாயகன்
the master of the earth (chief who is seated in the heart which is like a lotus flower)
பூந்துருத்திந் நகர்த் தேவன் சேவடிக் கீழ் நாம் இருப்பதே
we stay, under the lotus-red feet of the god in the city of Pūnturutti

தேசத்தில் உம்பரார் அவரோடு அங்கு இருக்கிலும்
though he may be in the earth and in heaven along with the celestials.
பொன் பொன் ஆர் செல்வப் பூந்துருத்திந் நகர் நம்பன், செம்பொனே ஒக்கும் மேனியன்
Civaṉ who dwells in the city of Pūnturutti which has gold and other brilliant wealth, and who has a body as glittering as superior gold itself.
சேவடிக்கீழ் நாம் இருப்பதே
we stay under the lotus-red feet of that (Civaṉ)

speaking harsh words
வலி செய் மூன்று ஊரினைக் கொல்லம் பேசிக் கொடுஞ்சுரம் நூறினான்
Civaṉ destroyed and talking the three cities which committed cruel acts, with a cruel arrow, thinking to kill them.
புல்லம் பேசியும் பூந்துருத்திந் நகர்ச் செல்வன் சேவடிக் கீழ் நாம் இருப்பதே
we stay under the lotus-red feet of Civaṉ in the city of pūntūṟutti, though he speaks words of abuse.

Being without equal
உலகு ஏழும் தொழ நின்று
fit to be worshipped by the seven worlds.
பருத்த பாம்பொடு பால் மதி கங்கையும் பொருத்தன் ஆகிலும்
though he fixed on his head a bulky cobra, crescent as white as milk, and Kaṅkai
பூந்துருத்திந் நகர்த்திருத்தன் சேவடிக் கீழ் நாம் இருப்பதே
we stay under the lotus-red feet of the holy god in the beautiful city of pūntūṟutti.

அதிரர் தேவர் இயக்கர் விச்சாதரர் கருத நின்றவர் காண்பு அரிது ஆயினான்
Civaṉ who could not been by Piramaṉ and Māl who are considered as the chief by the celestials who talk in a loud voice, iyakkar and viccātarār
பொருத நீர் வரு பூந்துருத்திந் நகர்ச் சதுரன் சேவடிக்கீழ் நாம் இருப்பதே
we stay under the lotus-red feet of the able god in the city of Pūnturutti where water which dashes against the banks, flows

though people from whose minds evil thoughts never leave, indulge in back biting.
கொதுகு அறாக் கண்ணின் நோன்பிகள் கூறினும்
and though the ascetics from whose eyes secretion does not stop and on which musquitoes settle, may try to slander

the hands of the arakkaṉ famous in sword-fight and strength of his shoulders which were agitating to do some mischief and which held the mountain.
கண் எலாம் பொடிக்க ஊன்றிய பூந்துருத்திந் நகர்ப் படிக் கொள் சேவடிக் கீழ் நாம் இருப்பதே
we stay under the lotus-red feet which were set on this earth and were fixed firmly to make all the eyes to shed tears in drops.
