கோனைக்காவிக் குளிர்ந்த மனத்தராய்
Having a mind that derives comfort by carrying the chief in it.
சில (1) தெண்ணர்கள் தேனைக்காவி (2) உண்ணார்
some fools will not enjoy the sweetness of meditating upon Civaṉ

ஊனைக் காவி ஊமர், ஆனைக் காவில் அம்மானை அணைகிலார், உழிதர்வர்
some people who have the power of speech but do not praise god and do not worship Civaṉ in Āṉaikkā are like dumb-mutes; they will carry the body as a burden and wander without any benefit.

திருகு சிந்தையைத் தீர்த்துச் செம்மை செய்து
Having made the mind upright removing its crookedness.
பருகி ஊறலைப்பற்றிப் பதம் அறிந்து
Knowing the proper opportunity of the experience of joy and enjoying it
உருகி நைபவர்க்கு ஊனம் ஒன்று இன்றியே அருகு நின்றிடும் ஆனைக்கா அண்ணல்
the chief in āṉaikkā will stand near those who languish meeting in their hearts, without any deficiency.

without physical sufferings
துயர் இன்றி
and without mental sufferings
என்றும் நீர் இன்பம் வேண்டில்
(People of this world!) if you wish to live happily always
இராப்பகல் ஏத்துமின்
praise night and day.
என் பொன் ஈசன் இறைவன் என்று உள்குவார்க்கு அன்பன் ஆயிடும் ஆனைக்கா அண்ணல்
the god in āṉaikkā becomes the loving friend of those who meditate upon him as, my gold, Civaṉ and one who pervades everywhere.

நாவால் நன்று நறுமலர்ச் சேவடி ஓவாது ஏத்தி உளத்து அடைத்தார்
Having fixed permanently in the heart, praising the red feet comparable to fragrant flowers, without ceasing, by words in the proper manner.
வினைகாவாய் என்று தம் கை தொழுவார்க்கு எலாம் ஆவா என்றிடும் ஆனைக்கா அண்ணல்
the god in āṉaikka will bestow compassion on all those who worship him with joined hands with a prayer `Protect us removing the Karmams.'

வஞ்சம் இன்றி வைகலும் வணங்கு மின்
pay obeisance to Civaṉ daily without deception.
வெஞ்சொல் இன்றி விலகு மின்
get away from evil without harsh words.
(1) வீடுற நைஞ்சு நின்று உள் குளிர்வார்க்கு எலாம் அஞ்சல் என்றிடும் ஆனைக்கா அண்ணல்
the god in Āṉaikkā will offer freedom from fear to those whose hearts melt always and feel comforted in mind, to attain liberation.

நடையை மெய் என்று நாத்திகம் பேசாதே
Do not talk atheism beleiving the order of the world to be true.
பஞ்ச மா பூதங்கள் படைகள் போல் வரும்
the five great elements will come upon you like an army
தன் அடைந்தார்க்கு எலாம்
For all those who take refuge in him.
தடை ஒன்று இன்றி ஆனைக்கா அண்ணல் அடைய நின்றிடும்
the god in āṉaikkā will remain easy of access to those who want to approach him, without any hindrance.

ஒழுகு மாடத்துள் ஒன்பது வாய்தலும்
all the nine gateways in the body which is leaky
கழுகு அரிப்பதன் முன்னம்
before the eagles prey upon it little by little.
கழல் அடி கை களால் தொழுது தூமலர் தூவி நின்று அழுமவர்க்கு
to those who weep out of joy scattering flawless flowers and worshipping the feet wearing an armour, with both the hands joining together.
ஆனைக்கா அண்ணல் அன்பன்
the god in āṉaikkā is a loving friend.

உருளும்போது அறிவு ஒண்ணா உலகத்தீர்
People of this world who do not know the exact time when the body rolls on the ground dead!
சிக்கெனத்தெருளும், தீவினை சேராதே
without being in associated with sins you be clear in your mind definitely
இருள் அறுத்து நின்று ஈசன் என்பார்க்கு எலாம்
to all those who say Civaṉ, completely destroying their ignorance.
ஆனைக்கா அண்ணல் அருள் கொடுத்திடும்
the god in āṉaikkā will certainly betow his grace.

{$} மடநெஞ்சமே
my mind which till now did not know about Civaṉ!
நாசமாய குலநலம் சுற்றங்கள், பாசம் அற்று
Having given up the caste and relations which are apt to spoil you
பராபர ஆனந்த ஆசை உற்றிடும் ஆனைக்கா அண்ணல்
the god in āṉaikka will grant you the desire to obtain the most exalted happiness (உற்றிடும் this is used in the causal sense)

ஓதமாகடல் சூழ் இலங்கைக்கு இறை கீதம் கின்னரம் பாடக் கெழுவினான்
Having become favourably disposed towards the King of ilaṅkai surrounded by the great ocean having billows, when he sang music with the aid of Kiṉṉaram (a musical instrument)
பாதம் வாங்கிப் பரிந்து அருள் செய்து அங்கு ஓர் ஆதி ஆயிடும் ஆனைக்கா அண்ணல்
the god in āṉaikkā, the origin of all things, granted his grace taking compassion on him by lifting up the foot that pressed him down.
