this girl who wears ornaments fitting her beauty is not pure enough to diffuse all over the body the holy ash she had in her body by embracing Kavāli in Āvaṭutuṟai who has the crescent, the skull and the big water on his head.

though this girl did not know the nature of love of our master, the destroyer who wore a crescent which is a part of the white esteemed and graceful moon.
ஆவடு தண் துறைக் களவு கண்டனள் ஓத்தனள் கன்னியே
this virgin girl is like the one who became united with the Lord in āvaṭutuṟai in clandestine love (The rhyme is this verse is worthy of note)

பல் மறை ஓதி என் உளம் கொண்டவன்
occupied my mind chanting many vetams!
ஒண் பொருள் ஆதி
who is the cause of all great things in this world!
ஆவடு தண்துறை மேவிய சோதியே சுடரே என்று சொல்லுமே
(this girl) always says the divine light which is partial to āvaṭutuṟai and the brilliant light.

Civaṉ who has a neck like the sable cloud that rises in the winter season.
வார்க் கொள் மென் முலை சேர்ந்து இறுமாந்து
Civaṉ who feels exulted being united Umai who has soft breasts on which a bodice is worn.
இவள் ஆர்க் கொள் கொன்றையன்
and who wears koṉṟai flowers which have captivated the mind of this girl.
ஆவடு தண் துறைத்தார்க்கு நின்று இவள் தாழுமாளறுன காண்மின்
See how this girl is engrossed in the thought to receive the garland of koṉṟai worn on the chest by the Lord in the cool āvaṭutuṟai.

காய்கதிர்ச் சோதியன்
who is as brilliant as the sun.
பருகு பால் அமுதே எனும் பண்பினன்
who has the quality of milk food which is fit for drinking.

ஆவடு தண்துறை ஒருவன்
the unequalled god in cool āvaṭutuṟai!
என்னை உடைய கோ என்னும்
he is the master who has me as his wife

Civaṉ who bore on his caṭai coiled into a crown, koṉṟai flowers, bael leaves, datura flowers, fire and a lady on his half.

when she says, the god in cool āvatutuṟai!
காரிகையாளுக்குக் கைவளை கழலும்
the bangles worn on the hands of this beautiful girl, slip off.

feeling proud, thinking as her refuge the god who has as his half a beautiful lady whose feet are as soft as cotton.

does not fear anybody
ஆவடு தண்துறை மஞ்சனோடு இவள் ஆடிய மையல்
Due to the infatuation she had by having intercourse with the youth in cool āvaṭutuṟai.

Civaṉ who being himself a lady and a male took away my complete self-control, my mind, and other feminine qualities.
அறையும் பூம் பொழில் ஆவடு தண்துறை இறைவன் என்னை உடையவன் என்னும்
she says `I am the possession of the Lord in cool āvaṭutuṟai which has flower gardens in which bees hum with great noise'

வையம் தான் அளந்தானும் அயனும் ஆய் மெய்யைக் காணலுற்றார்க்கு அழல் ஆயினான்
god who assumed the form of a column of fire when Māl who measured the earth and Ayaṉ, tried to see the ultimate truth? (ஆயினான் nominative of address)
ஐயன்! ஆவடு தண் துறையா என
when this girl cries `my father! Civaṉ who is in cool āvaṭutuṟai'
கையில் வெள்வளையும் கழல் கின்றதே
even the white bangles in the hands slip off.

this girl who lost her bashfulness
பக்கம் பூதங்கள் பாடப் பலி கொள்வான் ளஎன்னும்ன
says that Civaṉ receives alms when the pūtams sing by his side.
மிக்க வாள் அரக்கன் வலி வீட்டினான் ளஎன்னும்ன
and says he destroyed the excessive strength of the cruel and proud arakkaṉ (Irāvaṇaṉ)
அக்கு அணிந்தவன்; ஆவடு தண்துறைநக்கன் ளஎன்னும்ன
and says he adorns himself with chank-beads (அக்கு rudrāksha bead, bone) and the naked one in cool āvaṭutuṟai
