though this girl does not have fully developed breasts
அற்றம் தீர்க்கும் அறிவிலள் ஆகிலும்
and though she does not possess intelligence to remove the suffering of the talaivaṉ
1. எங்கள் பேதை கற்றைச் செஞ்சடையாள் கடம்பந்துறைப் பெற்றம் ஊர்தி என்றாள்
our girl who is in the age of pētai said, Civaṉ who has a collection of red caṭai and is in Kaṭampantuṟai has a bull as his mount.

தனகு இருந்தது ஓர் தன்மையர் ஆகிலும்
though some people are jovial by nature
முனகு தீரத் தொழுது எழுமின்களோ
(People of this world!) worship them so that your low nature may leave you

கனகப் புன்சடையான் கடம்பந்துறை நினையவல்லவர்
those who can fix their thought on Kaṭampantuṟai of Civaṉ who has a ruddy caṭai like gold
நீள் விசும்பு ஆள்வரே
will rule in civalōkam (they will attain eternal bliss)

சீர் இயல் பத்தர்
devotees possessing great and good nature!
ஆரியம் தமிழோடு இசை ஆனவன்
Civaṉ who is himself āriyam, Tamiḻ and music
கூரிய குணத்தார் குறி நின்றவன்
who is the goal of people who possess good qualities in an excessive measure.
காரியை உடையான் கடம்பந்துறை சென்று அடைமின்களே
go and reach Kaṭampantuṟai where Civaṉ who has a lady on his half, dwells majestically:

வடமொழியும் தென் தமிழும் மறைகள் நான்கும் ஆனவன் காண் (appar, tiruccivapuram, 1);
ஆரியன் கண்டாய் தமிழன் கண்டாய் (do. maṟaikkāṭu, 5);
செந்திறத்ததமிழோசை வடசொல்லாகி (tiruneṭuntāntākam, 4);
தென்னன் தமிழை வடமொழியை (periya tirumaṭal, 131)]]

வண்ணம் நன் மலரான் பலதேவரும் கண்ணனும்
Piramaṉ who is in a bright lotus flower, many tevar and Kaṇṇaṉ (Māl)
பண்ணின் இன்மொழி கேட்கும் பரமனை அறியான் கடம்பந்துறை நண்ண
if we go to Kaṭampantuṟai of Civaṉ who could not be known by the three persons and who listens to the sweet words of devotees which are like melodies.
வினையாயின நாசமே
all our Karmams will be destroyed.

மறை கொண்ட(ம்) மனத்தானை
Civaṉ who dwells in the minds of those who meditate upon the initiated wisdom
மனத்துளே நிறை கொண்ட(ந்) நெஞ்சினுள் உறவைம் மின்
place him in the centre of the mind which has moral firmness (people of this world!)

worship Kaṭampantuṟai where the god with a black neck dwells, to be free from the two karanams of sin and virtue which bind the souls intelligence

1. நங்கைபாகம் வைத்த(ந்) நறுஞ்சோதியைப் பங்கம் இன்றிப் பணிந்து எழுமின்கள் (ஓ)
Bow without any defect, the good effulgent light which placed a lady of distinction in one half

பொல நறுந் தெரியல் puṟam, 29-3);
நறுமை பொன்னிற்கு இன்நெனினும் தெரியற்கு அடையாய் நின்றது; நன்மையும் ஆம் (Do. old commentary)]]
கங்கைச் செஞ்சடையான், அங்கம் ஓதி அரன் உறைகின்றது கடம்பந்துறை
the place where Civaṉ who has on his red caṭai Kaṅkai, who has the name of araṉ, and who chanted the six ankams of the vētams, dwells is Kaṭampantuṟai

அரிய நான் மறை ஆறு அங்காய் ஐந்து புரியன் (உம் ஆய்) தேவர்கள் ஏத்த நஞ்சு உண்டவன்
Civaṉ who drank the poison when the tevar praised him to do so, being himself the abstruse four vētams, six aṅkams and five vestures of the soul (The five vestures are aṉṉamayakōcam, pirāṇamayakōcam, maṉōmayakōacam, viññaṉamaya Kōcam and āṉantamaya Kōcam).
மட நெஞ்சமே
my ignorant mind!
கரிய கண்டத்தினான் உறை கடம்பந்துறை உரியவாறு நினை
think of Kaṭampantuṟai where the god with a black neck dwells, in the proper manner.

பூ மென் கோதை உமை ஒரு பங்கனை, ஓமம் செய்தும் உள்ளத்தால் உணர்மின்கள்
(People of this world!) Though you perform sacrifices to propitiate Civaṉ who has on his half Umai who has soft tresses of hair, realise him in your minds
காமற் காய்ந்த பிரான் கடம்பந்துறை நாமம் ஏத்த
if we praise the name of Kaṭampantuṟai of the master who burnt Kāmaṉ
(1) நம் தீவினை நாசமே
our sins will be totally destroyed

பார் அணங்கி வணங்கிப் பணி செய
the people of this world to do service paying obeisance out of love.
நாரணன் பிரமன் அறியாதது ஒர் காரணன்
the cause of all things who could not be known by nāraṇaṉ and Piramaṉ
கடம்பந்துறை மேவிய ஆரணங்கு ஒருபால் உடை மைந்தனே
is the god who is in Kaṭampantuṟai and who has a divine damsel on one half.

பால் ஆன் ஐந்து ஆடும் பரமனார்
the supreme god who bathes in five products of the cow beginning with milk
காலால் ஊன்று உகந்தான் கடம்பந்துறை நோய் கெட நூலால் நன்றா நினைமின்கள்
(People of the world!)- meditate well on Kaṭampantuṟai of the god who pressssed with his foot irāvanaṉ, in order to destroy the sufferins of birth
மேலால் நாம் செய்த வல்வினை வீடுமே
all the irresistible actions that we committed in previous births will be destroyed
