the Lord in maṟaikkāṭu around which good-natured ladies who live in the whole world which is surrounded by the extensive ocean of waves, go from left to right.
காதல் செய்து கருதப்படுமவர் பாதம் ஏத்தப் பறையும் நம் பாவம்(ஏ)
our sins will vanish if we worship the feet of the Lord who is meditated upon with love

O Lord who is difficult to be seen by anyone however great he may be!
அடியார் தம்மை நோக்கிக் காண்பது நும் பணி செய்யில் (ஏ)
your seeing the devotees in the mental eye and physical eye is possible only when they do service to you.

O Lord in maṟaikkātu around which the votaries who are permanent residents go from left to right and where by the side of the pastoral tract mastwood tree and fetid cassia are growing!
அன்ன மெல் நடையாளை ஒர் 1. பாகமாச் சின்ன வேடம் உகப்பது செல்வம்(ஏ)
placing a lady whose gentle gait is like that of the swan is the wealth which you rejoice in the form wearing the marks of caivism such as sacred ash, uruttirākkam.

அட்டமாமலர் சூடி அடும்பொடு வட்டப் புன்சடை மாமறைக்காடரோ
O Lord in the great maṟaikkāṭu who placed on the ruddy caṭai which is circular in shape wearing eight flowers along with hare-lear flower.

O Lord in maṟaikkāṭu around which truthful people go from left to right and which is surrounded by fields full of water-lilies and blue indian water lilies.
தையல் பாகம் கொண்டீர்
you had a young lady as a half
கவர் புன்சடைப் பைதல் வெண்பிறை பாம்பு உடன் வைப்பதே
is it proper to place the young white crescent along with a cobra, on the branching ruddy caṭai?

even when asleep
துயலின்றி ஏத்துவார்
those who worship you sleeplessly
வஞ்சு இன்றி வலம் கொள் மறைக்காடரோ
O Lord in maṟaikkāṭu around which those whose intellect is active, go from left to right without deceipt
[[வஞ்சு-வஞ்சம் ; this is a poetical licence which consists in the shortening of a word by elision of one or more letters at the end]]
பஞ்சின் மெல்லடிப் பாவை பலிகொணர்ந்து அஞ்சி நிற்பதும் ஐந்தலை நாகம் (ஏ)
the cobra with five hoods which you wear is the reason for the lady who is as beautiful as a portrait and has feet as soft as cotton, standing with fear having brought alms and placing it into the begging bowl.

திருவினார் செல்வம் மல்கு விழர் அணி, மருவினார் வலம் கொள் மறைக்காடரோ
O Lord in maṟaikkāṭu around which people who are united with you in affection go from left to right and which is adorned with the beauty of the festival where wealth of people of good fortune is spent lavishly!
உருவினாள் உமை மங்கை ஒர் பாகமாய், மருவினாய் கங்கையைச் சென்னிதன்னில் (ஏ)
you were united with Kaṅkai by placing her in your head when already you had Umai of great beauty, a lady of distinction, as a half.

சங்கு வந்து அலைக்கும் தடங்கானல் வாய் வங்கம் ஆர் வலம் கொள் மறைக்காடரோ
O Lord in maṟaikkāṭu where the ships that stay in the entensive sea where the conches come along with the waves and dash against them in a row as if they go from left to right!
கங்கை செஞ்சடை வைப்பதும் அன்றியே
you not only place the Kaṅkai on the red catai.
அங்கையில் அனல் ஏந்தல் அழகிதே
but also hold a fire in the plam. Is it beautiful?

குறைக் காட்டான் விட்ட தேர் குத்த
when the chariot driven by Irāvaṇaṉ who did not show his drawbacks was prevented from moving.
மலை இறைக்காட்டி எடுத்தான் தலை ஈர் ஐந்தும்
all the ten heads of Irāvaṇaṉ who exhibited his strength for a while and lifted the mountain
மறைக்காட்டான்
O Lord in maṟaikkāṭu (this is அண்மை விளி vocative case to address a person nearby).
இறை ஊன்றலும்
when you pressed your toe a little.
வாய் விட்டான்
he roared.
எம்பிரான்

உனை ஏத்த(ஏ) இறைக் காட்டாய்
you would not allow your votaries to undergo the suffering of death, if they praise (would you not give a vision of yourself if we praise you-is another meaning)
