பாறு அலைத்த படு வெண் தலையினன்
Civaṉ who has a white skull from which all flesh has gone --- as it was shaken by kites to eat its flesh.
நீறு அலைத்த செம் மேனியன்
he has a person of red colour on which holy ash is smeared.
நேரிழை கூறு அலைத்த மெய்
has a body one half of which is a lady (நேரிழை a lady wearing ornaments suitable to her beauty).
கோள் அரவு ஆட்டிய ஆறு அலைக்கும் சடை அன்னியூரன்
the god in aṉṉiyūr who has a matted hair on which the river (Kaṅkai) wanders back and forth and who made cobra which can cause death, to dance.

Civaṉ has a lady who speaks words as sweet as fruits.
இண்டைச் செஞ்சடையன்
He has on his red matted hair, a circlet of flowers.

He has a neck in which the black poison is stationed.
கரியின் உரி போர்த்தவன்
He covered himself with the skin of an elephant.
அண்டத்துக்கு அப்புறத்தார்
He is beyond the investigation of the people of this world

Civaṉ who completely wipes out the Karmams of those who daily praise and bow to him.
தம் இடம் குரவம் நாறும் குழல் உமை கூறராய்
having his left half Umai who has tresses of hair on which bottle-flower is spreading its fragrance
அரவம் ஆட்டுவர்
he cause a cobra to dance spreading its hood.

விண்ணோர்க்கும் உயர்ந்தவர்

he is the chief who adorns his thick matted hair with a brilliant white crescent.
நீதியினால் அடியார் தமக்கு ஆதி ஆகி நின்றார்
he was the origin of the knowledge of the devotees, by his nature

இமையோர்கள் தமக்கு எலாம் இன்பராகி இருந்த எம் ஈசனார்
our Civaṉ who was the cause for the happiness of the celestials who do not wink.
துன்ப வல்வினைபோகத் தொழுமவர்க்கு
To those who worship him to remove the irresistible Karmams which inflict suffering.
அன்னியூர் அன்பர் ஆகி நின்றார்
Civaṉ himself in aṉṉiyūr becomes their friend.

வெந்த நீறு மெய் பூச நன் மேனியர்
Civaṉ who has a good and brilliant form as he besmears himself with well-burnt holy ash;

He has a desire for adorning himself with big fragrant flowers.
சிந்தை ஆர் சிவனார்
Civaṉ who is in the minds of all
செய்ய தீ வண்ணர்
he has the colour of red fire.
அன்னியூரர் அந்தணாளர்
and the god in aṉṉiyūr is a gracious one (கண்டீர் : expletive)

ஊன் (ஐ) ஆர் தலையில் பலி கொண்டு உழல்வானை வானவர் தாங்கள் வணங்கவே
the celestials worship the Lord who wanders to receive alm in a skull which is with flesh, voluntarily.
தேன் (ஐ) ஆர் குழலாளை ஓர் பாகமா
Having on one half a lady who has tresses of hair which is adorned with flowers having honey.
அன்னியூரர் ஆனை ஈர் உரியார்
the Lord in aṉṉiyūr covers himself with an elephant's skin.
[[ஈர் உரி may mean this also; a skin which is wet with blood;
ஈர் உரி-உதிரம் அறாத உரி; ஈர் - ஈரம் (takkayākapparaṇi 551, commentary)]]

Civaṉ will collect alms going to houses in the morning. (காலை may means also proper time)
நெற்றிக் கண்ணார்
he has a frontal eye.
மேலை வானவர் வந்து விரும்பிய சோலை சூழ் புறங்காடு அரங்காக
Dancing in the cremation ground which is surrounded by gardens as the dancing stage, and which is liked by the superior celestials.
அன்னியூரர் ஆலின் கீழ் அறத்தார்
Civaṉ in aṉṉiyūr taught spiritual truths sitting under the banyan tree.

Civaṉ who has a form like fire
என்பு அணிந்து இன்பராய்
feels happy having adorned himself with bones
திரியும் மூ வெயில் தீ எழச் செற்றவர்
He destroyed the wandering three forts to rise in flames
கரிய மாலொடு நான் முகன் காண்பதற்கு அரியர் ஆகி அன்னியூரர் நின்றார்
civvaṉ in aṉṉiyūr stood as a (column of fire) difficult to be seen by black Māl and Piramaṉ of four faces.

வஞ்ச அரக்கன் கரமும் சிரத்தொடும் அஞ்சும் அஞ்சும் ஓர் ஆறும் நான்கும் இற
to crush the hands and heads together with the twenty shoulders of the treacherous arakkaṉ(Irāvaṇaṉ) (வஞ்சரக்கன் = வஞ்ச அரக்கன்)
பஞ்சின் மெல் விரலால் அடர்த்து
pressing him down with a toe as soft as cotton.
ஆயிழை; அஞசல் அஞ்சல் என்றார் அன்னியூரர்
Civaṉ in Aṉṉiyūr calmed her, by saying Umai wearing choice jewels! Do not fear; Do not fear' when she was frightened.
