வெள்ளிக்குழைத்துணிபோலும் கபாலத்தன்
Civaṉ has a skull like the fragment of white conch;
[[குழை conch;
ககனமும் சங்கும் சேறும் காடும், குண்டலமும் தளிரும் குழலும் குழையே (pinkalam 3408)]]
வீழ்ந்து இலங்கு வெள்ளிப்புரி அன்ன வெண்புரிநூலன்
wears a sacred thread of white strands which are like the wires of silver which shine falling on the chest.
விரிசடைமேல் வெள்ளித்தகடு அன்ன வெண்பிறைசூடி
wearing a white crescent which is like a thin plate of silver on the spread-out caṭai.
வெள் என்பு அணிந்து
adorning himself with white bones.
வெள்ளிப்பொடிப் பவளப் புறம் பூசிய வேதியனே
the author of the vētams who smeared on his body which is like coral, white powder of sacred ash.

நெஞ்சமே
my mind!
உடலைத்துறந்து உலகு ஏழும் கடந்து உலவாத துன்பக் கடலைக்கடந்து உய்யப்போயிடலாகும்
renouncing the body, skipping all the seven worlds and crossing the ocean of endless distress I may reach your supreme bliss.
கனக வண்ணப் படலைச் சடைப் பரவைத்திரைக் கங்கைப் பனிப்பிறைவெண்சுடலைப் பொடிக் கடவுட்கு அடிமைக்கண்துணி
reserve to do service to the god who has on his expanding caṭai golden in colour, Kaṅkai of spreading waves, a cool crescent, and who smears himself with the white ash of the cremation-ground.

அழல்வ(ண்)ணா
Civaṉ who has the colour of fire!
எம்பிரான்
our Lord.
முன்னே உரைத்தால் முகமனே ஒக்கும்
if I state my idea in your presence it would be flattery.
இம் மூவுலகுக்கு அன்னையும் அத்தனும் ஆவாய் நீ அலையோ
are you not the mother and the father for these three worlds?
உன்னைநினைந்தே கழியும் என்ஆவி
my life will leave the body thinking only about you.
கழிந்ததற்பின் என்னை மறக்கப்பெறாய்
you must not forget me after it leaves the body.
உன்னை வேண்டியது
this is my request to you (this is the boon you must grant me)

நீ நின்னை எப்போதும் நினையல் ஒட்டாய்
you do not allow me to meditate on you always.
நினையப்புகில் பின்னை அப்போதே (1) மறப்பித்துப் பேர்த்து ஒன்று நாடுவித்தி
if I try to meditate, you make me seek something else changing my mind and making me forget you at that moment itself.
உன்னை எப்போதும் மறந்திட்டு உனக்கு இனிதா இருக்கும் என்னை ஒப்பார் உளரோ (சொல்லு)
are there people like me who are favourable to you forgetting you always? Tell me
வாழி
Let you live long!

முழுத்தழல்மேனித்தவளப் பொடியன்
Civaṉ smears on his body which is a form formed by all the fires.
கனகக்குன்றத்து எழிற்(1) பரஞ்சோதியை எங்கள் பிரானை (1) இகழ்ந்திர் கண்டீர்
(people of this world!) Do you despise our master who is the great beautiful and superior lustre of a hill of gold?
தொழப்படும் தேவர் தொழப்படுவானைத் தொழுதபின்னை
by worshipping Civaṉ who is worshipped in their turn by the celestials who are worshipped by you.
தன் தொண்டரைத் தொழப்படும் தேவர் தம்மால் தொழுவிக்கும்
will cause his devotees to be worshipped by the celestials who are worshipped by you.

எம்கறைக்கண்டன்
our Civaṉ who has a black neck.
விண்அகத்தான்
is in the sky.
வேதத்து உளான்
is the meaning of the vētams.
விரிநீர் உடுத்த மண்அகத்தான்
is in the earth surrounded by the ocean.
திருமால் அகத்தான்
is in the heart of tirumāl.
மருவற்கு இனிய பண் அகத்தான்
is in the music of melody-types to which one becomes accustomed.
பத்தர் சித்தத்து உளான்
is in the minds of pious people.
பழநாய் அடியேன் கண் அகத்தான்
is in the vision of his hereditary devotee who is as low as a dog.
மனத்தான்; சென்னியான்
is in my mind; is on my head.

பெருங்கடல் மூடி
the ocean having covered the earth.
பிரளயம்கொண்டு
the deluge having happened.
பிரமனும் போய்
Piramaṉ, the creator having reached the end of his life.
இருங்கடன்மூடி
having finished his great function.
இறக்கும்
will die.
இறந்தான் களேபரமும் கருங்கடல் வண்ணன் களேபரமும் கொண்டு கங்காளராய்
having the form of wearing the skeleton of the bodies of Piramaṉ who died and the body of Māl who has the colour of the sea.
நின்றுவரும்கடன் மீள
remaining without perishing to create afresh the worlds withdrawn into him.
எம் இறை நல்வீணைவாசிக்குமே
our Lord will play on the faultless vīṇai (this phrase is quoted by pērācirayar in his commentary on verse no.375, kōvaiyār)

வேலை நஞ்சு உண்டு ஊனம் ஒன்று இல்லா ஒருவனுக்கு ஆட்பட்ட உத்தமர்க்கு
to those people of sterling worth who have become the slaves of the unequalled Civaṉ who is without the slightest injury even after consuming the poison that rose in the ocean (நஞ்சு உண்டும், ஊனம் ஒன்றும்; உம் should be added to those words)
வானம் துளங்கில் என்
what does it matter if the sky quakes? (they would not be affected in the least)
மண் கம்பம் ஆகில் என்
what does it matter if the earth quakes!
மால் வரையும் தானம் துளங்கில் என்
what does it matter if the big mountains quake and change from their positions?
தலைதடுமாறில் என்
what does it matter if there is utter confusion?
தண்கடலும் மீனம் படில் என்
what does it matter if the cool ocean becomes dry and the fish die?
விரிசுடர் வீழில் என்
what does it matter if all the lights such as the sun moon and the stars fall down?

சிவன் எனும் நாமம் தனக்கே உடைய செம்மேனி எம்மான்
our Lord who has a red body and has the name of Civaṉ to denote himself only.
அவன் எனை ஆட்கொண்டு அளித்திடுமாகில்
it such a great god admits me as his protege and protects me.
அவன் தனையாள்பவன் எனும் நாமம் பிடித்துத் திரிந்து பன்னாள் அழைத்தால்
if I invoke him for many days catching hold of him by his name pavaṉ wandering wherever he goes.
இவன் எனைப் பன்னாள் அழைப்பு ஒழியான் என்று எதிர்படுமே
he will definitely appear before me thinking this fellow will not cease invoking me for many days

என்னை ஒப்பார் உன்னை இகலி உன்னை எங்ஙனம் காண்பர்
How can people like me see you, being inimical to you!
நின் பெருமை நின்னை ஒப்பார் நின்னைக் காணும் படித்து அன்று
you greatness is not of such a nature that people who can be compared to you in a way, can know that.
பொன்னை ஒப்பாரித்து
resembling gold in colour; (ஒப்பாரி Kuṟaḷ 1071)
அழலை வளாவி
mixing fire with it.
செம்மானம் செற்று
destroying the beauty of the evening red sky;
