புன்னைப் பொழில் புகலூர் அண்ணல் தன்னைச் சரண் என்று தாள் அடைந்தேன்
I approached the feet of the god in Pukalūr which has a garden of mast-wood trees, as my refuge.
தன் அடி அடையச் செய்வன கேண்மின்களோ
Hear what all he does when I approached his feet.
என்னைப் பிறப்பு அறுத்து
completely exterminating my birth
என்வினைக் கட்டு அறுத்து
cutting as under completely the bondage of my karmams.
ஏழ் நரகத்து என்னைக் கிடக்கல் ஒட்டான்
has decided that I should not dwell in the seven kinds of hells.
சிவலோகத்து இருத்திடுமே
he will fix me permanently in civalōkam. (It would be better if the reading were வினைக்கட்டறுத்து)

பொன்னை வகுத்தன்ன மேனியனே
Civaṉ who has a body shining like gold!

புணர் முலையாள் தன்னை வகுத்தன பாகத்தனே
who has a half which was given to the lady who has breasts which join with each other!
புன்னை மலர்த்தலை வண்டு உறங்கும் 1. புகலூர் அரசே
the king of pukalūr where in the flowers of the mast-wood trees bees are sleeping!
தமியேற்கு இரங்காய்
Have pity on me who is lonely!
என்னை வகுத்திலையேல் இடும்பைக்கு இடம்யாது? சொல்
if you had not created me where is the refuge for the sufferings? please tell me.

பொன் அளவு ஆர் சடைக் கொன்றையினாய்
Civaṉ who adorns his caṭai with koṉṟai flowers which are like gold!
1. புகலூர் அரசே

மன்உள தேவர்கள் தேடும் மருந்தே
the nectar which is sought after by tevars who have greatness!
வலஞ்சுழியாய்
Civaṉ in valañcuḻi!
என் அளவே உனக்கு ஆட்பட்டு இடைக்கலத்தே கிடப்பார்
I am the only person who is between bondage and salvation

ஓணப் பிரானும்
Tirumāl to whom the star, Ōṇam is sacred.
ஒளிர் மாமலர் மிசை உத்தமனும்
and the superior Piramaṉ who is seated on a big, shining lotus flowers
காணப் பராவியும் காண்கின்றிலர்
could not see, though they praised him and paid obeisance to Civaṉ to have your vision.
கரம் நால் ஐந்து உடைத் 1. தோள் நப்பிரானை வலிதொலைத்தோள்
who destroyed the strength of Irāvaṇaṉ of beautiful shoulders and twenty arms.
தொல்லை நீர்ப்புகலூர்க் கோணப் பிரானைக் குறுகக் குறுகா கொடுவினையே
the cruel karmams will not come any where near us if we apprach the master who is slanting in ancient pukalūr, surrounded by water (This temple is surrounded on three sides by water like a moat)
