{$} எனக்கு ஈன்றாளுமாய் எந்தையாய் உடன் தோன்றினராய் மூன்றாய் உலகம் படைத்து உகந்தான்
Civaṉ who felt joy in creating the three worlds, being my mother, my father and children of the same parents.
மனத்துள்(ள்) இருக்க ஏன்றான்
he condescended to be seated in my mind.
இமையவர்க்கு அன்பன்
has affection towards the celestial who do not wink.
திருப்பாதிரிப்புலியூர்த் தோன்றாத் துணையாய் இருந்தனன் தன் அடியோங்களுக்கே
to us who are his devotees he was an unseen companion in Tiruppātirippuliyūr.

{$} நெஞ்சே
my mind!
இந்தப்பாரை முற்றும் சுற்றாய் அலைகடல் மூடினும்புகல் நமக்குக் கண்டேன்
I found out a refuge to us if the moving ocean which girts this world on all sides, covers the earth at the time of destruction.
நமக்கு உற்றான்
Civaṉ is our relation.
உமையவட்கு அன்பன்
is the husband of Umayavaḷ
திருப்பாதிரிப்புலியூர் முற்றாமுளைமதிக் கண்ணியினான் தன் மொய்க்கழலே
it is the feet wearing tight fitting kaḻal of the god who wears a chaplet of a crescent in Tiruppātirippuliyūr.
பற்றாய் (1) நினைந்திடப்போது
proceed to meditate on them as our support.

{$} விடையான் விரும்பி என் உள்ளத்து இருந்தான்
Civaṉ who has a bull was seated in my heart desiring it.
இனி நமக்கு இங்கு அவலம் அடையா
sufferings will not reach us hereafter.
அருவினை சாரா
irresistible acts will not come near us.
நமனை அஞ்சோம்
we will not be afraid of the god of death (we will not be afraid of death)
புடை ஆர் கமலத்து அயன் போல்பவர் பாதிரிப்புலியூர் உடையான் அடியார் அடியோங்கட்கு அரியது உண்டே
is there anything which is difficult to attain to us who are the slaves of the feet of the devotees of Civaṉ in tiruppātirippuliyūr where brahmins who are as famous as Ayaṉ, who came into existence from the navel of Māl, which is a part of the body, live prosperously.

{$} மாயம் எல்லாம் முற்றவிட்டு (1) இருள்நீங்க
as the spiritual impurity known as māyai leaves completely and the āṇavan leaves us.
மலை மகட்கே நேயம் நிலாவ (2) இருந்தான் அவன்தன் திருவடிக்கே தேயம் எல்லாம் இறைஞ்சும் திருப்பாதிரிப்புலியூர் மேய நல்லான் மலர்ப்பாதம்
the feet which are like the lotus flower, of the god who dwells with desire in tiruppātirippuliyūr where all the people of this country bow their heads to the holy feet of Civaṉ who remains for his love towards the daughter of the mountain being fixed.
என் சிந்தையுள் நின்றன (ஏ)
stayed in my mind permanently

{$} அறிவு இலாப் பேதை நெஞ்சே
my ignorant mind which has no intelligence!
நமக்கு வைத்த பொருள் ஆம் என்று சொல்லி மனத்து அடைத்து, சித்தம் ஒருக்கிச்சிவாய நம என்று (இரு)
Be always uttering civāyanama controlling the determinate faculty, placing securely in the mind telling it that it is the wealth that has been set apart for us.
இருக்கின் அல்லால்
if you are not like that.
மொய்த்த கதிர்மதி (1) போல்வர் அவர் பாதிரிப்புலியூர் அத்தன் அருள் பெறலாமோ
is it possible to receive the grace of the master who is in tiruppātirippuliyūr where brahmins who are as lustrous as the sun and moon and live crowded.

{$} பாதிரிப்புலியூர் அரனே
araṉ in pātirippuliyūr!
கருவாய்க் கிடந்து உன் கழலே நினையும் கருத்து உடையேன்
I had the intention of meditating upon your feet only lying in the embryo of my mother;
[[cf கருவுற்றநாள் முதலாக உன்பாதமே காண்பதற்கு உருகிற்று என் உள்ளமும் (nāvukkaracar Kacci ēkampam (3) 6)]]
உருவாய்த் தெரிந்து
discerning after I was born as a baby.
உன்றன் நாமம் பயின்றேன்
I repeated without ceasing your names.
உனது அருளால்
with the help of your grace.
(1) திருவாய்ப் பொலியச் சிவாய நம என்று நீறு அணிந்தேன்
I smeared beautifully with the sacred ash uttering the mantiram, `civāya nama' to make the sacred ash auspicious, as my wealth.
நீ சிவகதி தருவாய்
you will bestow on me salvation

{$} எண்ணாது அமரர் (1) இரக்கப் பரவையுள் (2) நஞ்சை உண்டாய்
you consumed the poison which rose in the ocean when the immortals besought you to consume the poison, without any thought about the consequences (எண்ணாது may be linked with இரக்க as well as உண்டாய்; எண்ணாது இரக்க: will mean without the slightest compunction that we are asking him to consume the poison)
(3) திண்ணார் அசுரர்திரிபுரம் தீ எழச் செற்றவனே
Civaṉ who destroyed the three cities of the strong acurar for the fire to rise in them.
பண் ஆர்ந்து அமைந்த பொருள்கள் பயில் பாதிரிப்புலியூர் கண் ஆர் நுதலாய்
god who has a frontal eye and who is in pātirippuliyūr where vētams which are full of music are chanted without ceasing!
கழல் நம் கருத்தில் உடையனவே
your feet are in pur mind having us as your slaves and you as the master.

{$} புண்ணியா
the holy being, Civaṉ.
இவ்வையகத்தே தொழுவார்க்கு இரங்கி அருள்செய் தீவண்ணனே
who has the colour of the fire, who bore on his red caṭai Kaṅkai having fertile water and who is in pātirippuliyūr where he takes compassion on those who worship him with joined hands in this world and grants his grace!
புழுவாய்ப்பிறக்கினும் உன் அடி என் மனத்தே வழுவாது இருக்க வரம் தரவேண்டும்
even if I am destined to be born as a worm in the next birth you must grant me a boon that your feet will not slip away from my mind.

{$} நெஞ்சே
my mind!
மண்பாதலம்புக்கு மால்கடல் மூடினும்
Even if the big ocean covers the earth when it entered into the nether worlds.
மற்று ஏழ் உலகும் விண்பால் திசை கெட்டு இருசுடர் வீழினும்
Even if the seven worlds fall from their positions and the directions are lost in the sky and the sun and the moon fall down.
அஞ்சல்
you need not fear.
திண்பால் நமக்கு ஒன்று கண்டோம்
we have found a place which will not be destroyed (if anybody asks what it is).
திருப்பாதிரிப் புலியூர்க் கண் பாவு நெற்றிக் கடவுட்சுடரான் கழல் இணையே
that is the twin feet of Civaṉ who is the light divine; who has an eye spreading on the forehead and who is tiruppalirippuliyūr.

{$} திருப்பாதிரிப்புலியூர் இருந்தாய்
Civaṉ who dwelt in tiruppātirippuliyūr!
வரை எடுத்த பொருந்தா அரக்கன் உடல் நெரித்தாய்
you crushed the body of the inimical arakkaṉ who lifted the mountain; Kayilai.
திருந்தா அமணர்தம் தீ நெறிப்பட்டு
being caught in the evil path of the amaṇar who have not reformed themselves.
திகைத்து
being bewildered (and then attaining clarity of mind).
முத்தி தரும் தாள் இணைக்கே சரணம் புகுந்தேன்
I took refuge in the twin feet which can grant me salvation.
அடியேன் இனிப் பிறவாமல் வந்து ஏன்று கொள் (ஏ)
take charge of me who is your devotee from being born again.
