கையது எரிகால் நாகம்
the cobra from whose fangs the poison flows is in the hand.
கனல்விடு சூலம் (கையது)
the trident which spits fire is in the hand.
வெய்யது வேலை நஞ்சு உண்ட விரிசடைவிண்ணவர்கோன்
the chief of the celestials who has a loosened catai and who consumed the hot poison that rose in the ocean.
செய்யினில் நீலம் கமழும் திருவேதிகுடி ஐயனை ஆரா அமுதினை நாம் அடைந்து ஆடுதுமே
we shall go near the insatiate nectar and the master who is in tiruvētikuṭi where in the fields blue nelumbo flowers spread their fragrance, and dance out of joy.

கைத்தலை மான்மறி ஏந்திய (1) கையன்
Civaṉ holds in the hand a young deer which has a small head;

கனல் மழுவன்
has a burning red hot iron in his hand
பொய்த்தலை ஏந்தி
holding a skull full of holes;
[[பொய பொரு முடங்குகை வெண்கேட்டு அடங்கி (Cilappatikāram, 15-50);
பொய் பொரு கயமுனி (malaipaṭukaṭām, 107)]]
நற்பூதி அணிந்து
adorning himself by smearing holy ash.
பலிதிரிவான்
wanders begging alms.
செய்த்தலை வாளைகள் பாய்ந்து உகளும் திருவேதிகுடி அத்தனை ஆரா அமுதினை நாம் அடைந்து ஆடுதுமே
we shall go and reach the insatiate nectar and father in tiruvetikuṭi where the scabbard fish leap and run about in the fields, and dance out of joy.

முன் பின் முதல்வன்
Civaṉ is the chief before the world came into existence and after its destruction;
[[முன்னும் ஒருவர் இரும் பொழில் மூன்றற்கும், முற்றும் இற்றால்; பின்னும் ஒருவர் (kōvaiyār, 160)]]
முனிவன்
is the sage;
[[தாழ்சடைப்பொலிந்த அருந்தவத்தோற்கே (puram, 1-13)]]
எம்மேலை வினை கழித்தான்
removed all accumulated karmams of mine (மேலைவினை may also mean karnams yet to come to give their fruit).
1. அன்பின் நிலையில் அவுணர் புரம் பொடி ஆன செய்யும் செம்பொனை
the pure gold that reduced to ash the cities of the avuṇar by his divine grace that chastises. (The words can be split as அன்புஇல் நிலையில் also; then they will mean when the avuṇar had no love towards living beings).
நல் மலர் மேலவன் சேர்திருவேதிகுடி அன்பனை நம்மை உடையனை நாம் அடைந்து ஆடுதுமே
we shall reach Civaṉ, who has us as his servants and love towards us, and who is in tiruvētikuṭi where Piramaṉ who is in the beautiful lotus flower went to worship Civaṉ, and dance out of joy.

பத்தர்கள் நாளும் மறவார் பிறவியை ஒன்று அறுப்பான்
Civaṉ will completely destroy only the births of devotees and those who do not forget him. (He will not destroy the births of others).
முத்தர்கள் முன்னம் பணிசெய்து பாரிடமுன் 1. உயர்த்தான்
he elevated in this world those who were free from bondage as they performed service in ages gone by.
கொத்தன கொன்றை மணம் கமழும் திருவேதிகுடி அத்தனை ஆரா அமுதினை நாம் அடைந்து ஆடுதுமே
we shall go and reach the insatiate nectar that is in tiruvētikuṭi where koṉṟai having bunches of flowers were spreads its fragrance, and dance out of joy.

ஆன் அணைந்து ஏறும் குறி குணம் ஆர் அறிவார்
who is able to understand the emblem and characters eight in number and redness and others riding on a bull?
அவர்கை மான் அணைந்து ஆடும்
the deer comes near his hand and leaps.
மதியும் புனலும் சடைமுடியன்
has on his caṭai coiled into a crown the crescent and water.
தேன் அணைந்து ஆடியவண்டுபயில் திருவேதிகுடி ஆன் அண் ஐந்து ஆடும் மழுவனை நாம் அடைந்து ஆடுமே
we shall reach Civaṉ who has a battle-axe and bathes in the five products of the cow and who is in tiruvētikuṭi where beetless which reach the honey and roll in it are swarming, and dance out of joy?

எண்ணும் எழுத்தும் குறியும் அறிபவர் தாம் மொழிய
when those who know mathematics and grammer and symbols tell about Civaṉ.
பண்ணின் இசை மொழி பாடிய வானவர் தாம் பணிவார்
the celestials who sing words of praise combined with music, will bow before him.
1. திண்ணென் வினைகளைத் தீர்க்கும் பிரான்
the master will remove the very strong and irresistible karmams (of devotees)
திருவேதிகுடி நண்ண அரிய அமுதினை நாம் அடைந்து ஆடுதுமே
we shall reach the nectar in tiruvētikuṭi, which is not easy to get, and dance out of joy.

ஊர்ந்த விடை உகந்து ஏறிய செல்வனை நாம் அறியோம்
we do not know the god who got upon the bull desiring it and rode on it.
ஆர்ந்த மடமொழி மங்கை ஓர் பாகம் மகிழ்ந்து உடையான்
has with joy on one half a young lady whose words are full of sweetness.
சேர்ந்த புனல்சடைச் செல்வப்பிரான்
the master of wealth who has on his caṭai water that reached it of its own accord.
திருவேதிகுடிச் சார்ந்த வயல் அணி தண்ணமுதை அடைந்து ஆடுதுமே
we shall reach and enjoy the cool nectar in tiruvētikuṭi which has the beauty of fields surrounding it, and dance out of joy.

எரியும் மழுவினன்
Civaṉ has a burning red-hot iron.
எண்ணியும் மற்று ஒருவன் தலையுள் திரியும் பலியினன்
knowing fully well that it is low, he wander for alms holding a skull of another person (Piramaṉ).
தேயமும் நாடும் எல்லாம் உடையான்
has small and large regions as his own properties.
விரியும் பொழில் அணி சேறுதிகழ் திருவேதிகுடி அரிய அமுதினை அன்பர்களோடு அடைந்து ஆடுதுமே
we shall reach the rare nectar in Tiruvētikuṭi where honey is prominent which make the flowering gardens beautiful, and dance out of joy in the company of devotees.

மை அணி கண்டன்
ivaṉ has a beautiful neck that resembles the sable cloud
[[மை may also mean blackness; poison which is black in colour;]]

(appar, tiruvīḻimiḻalai, tāṇṭakam (1) 6).]]
மறைவிரி நாவன்
expounds the vētams with his tongue.
மதித்து உதந்த மெய் அணி நீற்றன்
has holy ash, adorning his form esteeming it and linking it, which can grant liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
விழுமிய வெண் மழு வாட்படையான்
has a superior and white weapon of a battle-axe.
செய்ய கமலம் மணம் கமழும் திருவேதிகுடி ஐயனை ஆரா அமுதினை நாம் அடைந்து ஆடுதுமே
we shall reach the insatiate nectar and master who is tiruvētikuṭi where red lotus flowers spread their fragrance, amd dance out of joy.

Civaṉ who gave suffering to (iravaṇaṉ)
வாள் அரக்கன் முடி தோளொடு பத்து இறுத்த பொருத்தனை
who is the fit person to crush the ten heads and twenty shoulders of the cruel arrakkaṉ.
பொய்யா அருளனை
who never fails in granting his grace.
பூதப்படை உடைய திருத்தனை
who is the pure one who has an army of pūtam (திருத்தன்-தீர்ம,மன் the pure one).
தேவர் பிரானை
the chief of the celestials
திருவேதிகுடி உடைய அருத்தனை ஆரா அமுதினை நாம் அடைந்து ஆடுதுமே
we shall reach the insatiate nectar and the wealth who has tiruvēatoliṭo as his temple, and dance out of joy.
