எட்டாம் திசைக்கும் இருதிசைக்கும் இறைவா
the chief of the eight directions, upper and lower directions

முறை என்று இட்டார் அமரர் வெம்பூசல் எனக்கேட்டு
on hearing the immortals who cried loudly with a complaint.

the master of the celestials who placed on his red caṭai a young waning crescent which ascended on the head, shone and became conspicuous.
மூவான்
will not become aged.
இளகான்
will not become tired.
முழுஉலகோடும் மண்விண்ணும் மற்றும் (1) ஆவான் அடிநிழற்கீழது அன்றோ என்தன் ஆருயிரே

தக்கன் வேள்வி தகர்த்து உகந்த எரி ஆர் இலங்கிய சூலத்தினான்
Civaṉ who has a trident shining with fire and who became great by laying waste the sacrifice performed by Takkaṉ.
இமையாத முக்கண் பெரியான்
the great god who has three eyes that do not shine with splendour

பெரியார் பிறப்பு அறுப்பான்
will cut at the root of birth of those who are great by scholarship;

வடிவுடை வாள் நெடுங்கண் உமையாளை ஓர்பால் மகிழ்ந்து
feeling elated in having on one half Umaiyāḷ who has exquisite beauty and long eyes which are like the sword.
வெடிகொள அரவொடு வேங்கை அதள்கொண்டு மேல் மருவி
adorning himself with cobras that live in clefts and covering the upper part of his body with the skin of a tiger
[[மிகத்தான் பெரியதொர் வேங்கை அதள் கொண்டு மேல் மருவி (of this decade)]]
பொடிகொள் அகலத்து
in the chest in which sacred ash is smeared.
பொன் பிதிர்ந்தன்ன பைங்கொன்றை அம்தார் அடிகள் அடிநிழற்கீழது அன்றோ என்தன் ஆருயிரே

forgiving the celestials for requesting him to consume the poison.
அமரர்க்கு அமுது அருளி
giving the immortals the nectar (அமரர் is used in the sense of tēvar and not in its derivative sense).
நஞ்சம் உண்டு கண்டம் கறுத்தான்
his neck became black by consuming the poison.
கறுப்பு அழகா உடையான்
has that blackness as a beauty;

கங்கை செஞ்சடைமேல் செறுத்தான்
restrained Kaṅkai on his red caṭai.
தனஞ்சயன் சேண் ஆர் அகலம் கணை ஒன்றினால் அறுத்தான் அடிநிழற்கீழது அன்றோ என்தன் ஆருயிரே

செறற்கு அரியான் என்று காலனைக் கால் ஒன்றினால் காய்ந்தான், பாய்ந்தான்
Civaṉ pounced upon Kālaṉ with one leg, being angry with him, as he was difficult to be killed
[[Civaṉ killed Kālaṉ with his left leg;

பணைமதில் மூன்றும் கணை என்னும் ஒள்ளழலால் மேய்ந்தான்

(1) செறுதற்கு அரியான் தலையை உளைந்தான் உகிர் ஒன்றினால் களைந்தான்
removed with one nail, suffering in mind, the head of Piramaṉ who was difficult to be killed (செறற்கு அரியான்: previous verse)
அதனை நிறைய நெடுமால் கண் ஆர் குருதி வளைந்தான்
filled it to the brim with the blood from the body of tall Māl;

முந்து இ வட்டத்திடைப்பட்டது எல்லாம்
all the persecutions that I had to undergo in former days in this world, for forsaking canaṇam and re-embracing caivam.
முடிவேந்தர் தங்கள் பந்திவட்டத்திடைப்பட்டு அலைப்புண்பதற்கு அஞ்சிக்கொல்லோ
perhaps being afraid of being caught in the stable of horses and elephants and kings wearing crown, being put to trouble.
நந்திவட்டம் நறுமலர்க்கொன்றையும் நக்கசென்னி அந்திவட்டத்து ஒளியான் அடிச்சேர்ந்தது என் ஆருயிரே
my precious life reached the feet of Civaṉ who has the brilliant colour of the evening sky and on whose head the flowers nantivaṭṭam and fragrant koṉṟai flowers bloomed.

சிறிது அலர்ந்த, நந்திவட்டத்தொடு கொன்றைவளாவிய நம்பனையே (nāvukkaracar, tiruvaiyāṟu (6) 1);

மிகத்தான் பெரியது ஒர் வேங்கை அதள்கொண்டு மெய்ம்மருவி
covering the body with a very big tiger's skin.
அகத்தான் வெருவ நல்லாளை நடுக்குறுப்பான்
Civaṉ will frighten the lady to be afraid of in her mind.
பொன்வரும் முகத்தால் குளிர்ந்திருந்து உள்ளத்தினால் உகப்பான் இசைந்த அகத்தான் அடிநிழற்கீழது அன்றோ என்தன் ஆருயிரே
is not my precious life under the shelter of the feet of Civaṉ who agrees to feel joy by his mind, satisfying completely his devotees by his brilliant face!

பைம்மான் அரவு அல்குல் பங்கயச்சீறடியாள் வெருவ, கைம்மா (1) வரிசிலைக்காமனை அட்ட கடவுள்
the god who burnt Kāmaṉ (cupid) who had a big bow of many bands held in his hand to make the lady who has small feet like the lotus flower and a private part like the eminent hood of a cobra, to be seized with fear.
முக்கண் எம்மான் இவன் என்று இருவரும் ஏத்த
Both Māl and Piramaṉ to praise, this god who has three eyes is our master'
எரிநிமிர்ந்த அம்மான் அடிநிழற்கீழது அன்றோ என்தன் ஆருயிரே

Civaṉ who has a vehicle of that bull trained to carry him.
பைங்கண் பாரிடம் பாணி செய்ய
the pūtams of tender eyes to keep measure of time.
குழலும் முழவொடு மாநடம் ஆடி
performing a great dance to the accompaniment of flute and muḻavu.
உயர் இலங்கைக் கிழவன் இருபது தோளும் ஒரு விரலால் இறுத்த அழகன் அடி நிழற் கீழது அன்றோ என்றன் ஆருயிரே
is not my precious life under the shelter of the feet of beautiful Civaṉ who crushed with a single toe all the twenty shoulders of the Lord of eminent ilankai!
