{$} பார் கொண்டு மூடிக் கடல் கொண்ட ஞான்று
on that day when the ocean covered the earth and engulfed it
நின் பாதம் எல்லாம் நால் அஞ்சு புள்ளினம் ஏந்தின என்பர்
people who are in the know of things say that a flock of twenty birds held high and supported all your feet.
நளிர் மதியம் கால் கொண்ட சடை வண்கை விரித்தாடும் கழுமலவர்க்கு
to the Lord in Kaḻumalam who dances stretching his matted hairs on which the cool crescent is well established, and his munificent hands.
ஆள் அன்றி மற்றும் உண்டோ அமதண் ஆழி அகலிடம்
is there anything else that the people of the wide world girt by the beautiful and cool ocean, do except becoming his humble devotees?

{$} உடைதலை மாலையும் உகந்துசூடி அருளி
having adorned himself with a garland of broken skulls, desiring it.
விடைதான் உடைய அவ்வேதியன் கடை ஆர் கொடி நெடுமாடங்கள் எங்கும் கலந்து இலங்க
that Vētiyaṉ who has a bull and dwells in Kaḻumalam where the tall storeys with flags hoisted on their entrances, are shining.
உடையான் அடைவார் வினைகள் (அவை) எள்க நாள் தொறும் ஆடுவர்
the master of everything dances daily to make the sins of those who reach that place, to go away from them with fright.

{$} திரைவாய்ப் பெருங்கடல் முத்தம் குவிப்ப
as the big ocean heaps pearls by its waves.
முகந்து கொண்டு
taking up and lifting them in their hands
நுரைவாய் நுனைச்சியர் ஓடி
the women of the fishermen caste who are foaming in their mouths, running towards it.
கழுமலத்துள் அழுந்து விண்ணவன்
the Tēvaṉ who is inlaid like a precious stone in Kaḻumalam
விரைவாய் நறுமலர்சூடிய விண்ணவன்
and who adorned himself with good flowers of fragrance.
தன்னடிக்கே வரையாப் பரிசு இவை நாள்தொறும் நம்தமை ஆள்வனவே
and offering them as tribute to the feet of the Lord is that which admits us into his grace.

{$} அரும்பொருள் உள்ளுவர் கேட்கில்
if people who desire knowing rare truths.
விழுமியநூல் உரைக்கில் வேதங்கள் ஓதும்
the Lord will recite the Vētam which is pre-eminent
அரும்பதம் விரிக்கும்
will expound the difficult words.

உலகமுற்றும் இரிக்கும் பறையொடு பூதங்கள் பாட
when the gobline sing with a drum whose sound frightens and makes everything in the world run in a disorderly manner.
கழுமலவன் நிருத்தம் பழம்படி ஆடும் கழல் நம்மை ஆள்வன
the feet of the Lord in Kaḻumalam which dance as before, will admit us into his grace;

கழுமலத்தை நினையாமுன் பந்தித்தவல் வினை தீர்க்க வல்லானை, பசுபதியை
the Lord who can remove the strong sins which bind us, even before we think of Kaḻumalam, and the master of all beings.
சந்தித்த காலம் அறுத்தும் என்று எண்ணி இருந்தவர்க்கு முந்தித்தொழு
worship him before those people who think `we will completely cut off the sins at the time we visit the temple.'
சிந்தித்து எழு
start thinking of that
கழல் நாள் தொறும் நந்தமை ஆள்வனவே
those feet admit us into his grace daily.

{$} நிலையும் பெருமையும் நீதியும் சால அழகு உடைத்தாய்
Being very beautiful by its permanence, greatness and nature.
அலையும் பெரு வெள்ளத்து அன்று மிதித்த இத்தோணிபுரம்
in this Tōṇipuram which floated above the big water of the deluge which was wandering, in the distant past.
1. சிலையிற்றிரிபுரம் மூன்று எரித்தார்
one who burnt the three wandering cities with a bow.
நம் கழுமலர் அலரும் கழல் அடி நாள் தொறும் நம்தம்மையாள்வன
the feet of our Lord in Kaḻumalam which wears anklets and pervades everywhere will admit us into their grace, daily.

வெண்திங்கள் சூடும் கற்றைச் சடைமுடியார்க்கு இடம் ஆய கழுமலம்
Kaḻumalam which is the place of the one who has a collection of matted hairs on which he wears the white crescent.
முற்றிக்கிடந்து முந்நீரில் மிதந்து உடன் மொய்த்து அமரர் சுற்றிக் கிடந்து தொழப்படுகின்றது
is worshipped by the immortals who crowd simultaneously, and surround it and which once upon a time floated above the ocean which besieged the world.

{$} உடலும் உயிரும் ஒருவழிச்செல்லும் உலகத்துள்ளே
in the world where the life within directs the body in one direction
அடையும் உனைவந்து அடைந்தார் அமரர் அடி இணைக்கீழ்
the immortals came and took refuge in your feet, and reached you who is fit to be sought.
நடையும் விழவும் நாள் தொறும் மல்கும் கழுமலத்துள் விடையன் தனிப்பதம்
the peerless feet of the Lord who has a bull, in Kaḻumalam where dances and festivals are on the increase daily.
நம் தமை ஆள்வன
admit us into their grace.

{$} பரவைக்கடல் நஞ்சம் உண்டதும் இல்லை
the god did not drink the poison which rose in the extensive ocean?

இப்பார் முழுதும் நிரவிக்கிடந்து தொழப்படுகின்றது
it is adorned and worshipped, its fame having spread everywhere in this world.
கழல் அடி காண்பதற்கே நீண்டு இருவர் சிரமப்பட வந்து சார்ந்தார்
The two people, Māl and Piramaṉ, went down and flew up to see the head and feet and returned exhausted.
அரவக்கழல் அடி நாள்தொறும் நம்தமை ஆள்வன
those famous feet which wear as anklet a cobra admit us into their grace, daily.

{$} கரை ஆர் கடல்சூழ் இலங்கையர்கோன் தன் முடிசிதறத் தொலையா மலரடி ஊன்றலும்
when god pressed with his feet resembling lotus which do not know defeat, to scatter the heads of the king of Ilankai surrounded by sea which is roaring.
உள்ளம் விதிர்விதிர்த்து
his mind having become tremulous.
தலையாய்க் கிடந்து உயர்ந்தான்தன்
when Irāvaṇaṉ was lying with his heads only to be seen clearly, the god who was shining, seated high on the mount Kailācam.
