பெருந்திரு இமவான் பெற்ற பெண் கொடி பிரிந்த பின்னை
after the daughter who is like a tender creeper and begot by Imavāṉ who has great wealth, became separated from Civaṉ.
வருந்து வான் தவங்கள் செய்ய
when she did severe penances with great efforts subjecting her body to many sufferings with air and water as her food.
மாமணம் புணர்ந்து மன்னும் அருந்திருமேனி தன் பால் அங்கு ஒரு பாகம் ஆகத் திருந்திட வைத்தார்
kept her as one half in his highly valuable and holy body which is permanent, to appear elegant, being united with her in the great marriage.
சேறைச் செந்நெறிச் செல்வனார்
the god in cenneṟi to Cēṟai

உண்மையை உளவாறு நோக்கி ஓர்த்து உணராக் குண்டர் வார்த்தையை மெய் என்று எண்ணி
thinking the words of the low amaṇar who did not know by investigation the truth as it is, by the mental eye.
மயக்கில் வீழ்ந்து அழுந்துவேனைப் பேர்த்து
rescuing me who was sinking, having fallen into their religion.
ஆளாக் கொண்டு
admitting me as his protege
(1) பிறவிலான் பிணிகள் எல்லாம் தீர்த்து
curing me of the disease of birth and all other incurable diseases.
அருள்செய்தார்
granted his grace.

ஒன்றிய தவத்து மன்னி
being steadfast in the penance concentrating the mind without allowing it to wander in many ways.
உலப்பு இல் காலம் நின்று தம் கழல்கள் ஏத்தும் நீள் சிலை விசயனுக்கு வென்றிகொள் வேடன் ஆகி விரும்பி வெங்கானகத்துச் சென்று அருள் செய்தார்
granted his grace walking in the hot forest desiring it, assuming the form of a victorious hunter, to Vicayaṉ who had a long bow and who praised the feet of Civaṉ, standing for an unlimited number of years.

அஞ்சையும் அடக்கி
having controlled the five senses
ஆற்றல் உடையனாய்
and having the strength of mind.
அநேக காலம் வஞ்சம் இல்தவத்துள் நின்று மன்னிய பகீரதற்கு
on behalf of pakīrataṉ who was steadfast in his sincere penance for many number of years.
வெஞ்சின முகங்களாகி விசையொடு பாயும் கங்கை செஞ்சடை எற்றார்
received the kaṅkai which flowed with great force, having many angry forms, in his red caṭai.

நிறைந்த மா மணலைக் கூப்பி
having heaped in the form of a liṅkam the sand which was found in plenty in the river maṇṇi.
நேசமோடு ஆவின் பாலைக் கறந்து கொண்டு ஆட்டக் கண்டு
on seeing bathing it, with love, with the cow's milk, having milked it.
கறுத்ததன் தாதை தாளை எறிந்த மாணிக்கு அப்போதே எழில்கொள் (1) தண்டீசன் என்னச் சிறந்த பேர் அளித்தார்
bestowed on the bachelor who severed the leg of his angry father then itself the beautiful name of Taṇṭicaṉ which is conspicuous.

விரித்த பல்கதிர் கொள் சூலம் வெடிபடுதமருகம் கை தரித்தது ஓர் (1) கோல் காலபயிரவன் ஆகி
taking the form of Kāla Payiravaṉ (Kāla Bhairava) holding in the hands a trident which spreads many rays of light and a drum tapering in the middle like the shape of an hour-glass, which makes a big sound

laughed opening the bright and beautiful lips which are like coral in colour.

சுற்றும் முன் இமையோர் நின்று தொழுது தூமலர்கள் தூவி
when the celestials who do not wink stood in his presence surrounding him and made obeisance scattering pure flowers.
எமையுயக் கொள்' என்ன
and requested Civaṉ Take it in your mind to save us
ஒரு நொடியின் முன்னம்
even before the time-measure for the snap of the fingers elapsed.
வான் மன்னு புரங்கள் மூன்றும் உற்று ஒள் அழல் வாயின் வீழச் செற்று அருள் செய்தார்
destroyed all the three eminent cities which were staying in the sky to be engulfed by the bright fire and bestowed his grace on the immortals.

முந்தி இவ்வுலகம் எல்லாம் படைத்தவன் மாலினோடும் எம் தனி நாதனே என்று இறைஞ்சி நின்று எத்தல் செய்ய
when Piramaṉ who created this world at the beginning together with Māl praised and worshipped by saying our unequalled master.
அந்தம் இல் சோதி தன்னை அடிமுடி அறியாவண்ணம் செந்தழல் ஆனார்
assumed the form of fire so that they could not know the head and feet of the brilliance which has no end.

ஒருவரும் நிகர் இலாத ஒண்திறல் அரக்கன் ஓடிப் பெருவரை எடுத்த திண்தோள், பிறங்கிய முடிகள் இற்று, மருவி எம் பெருமான் என்ன
when the arakkaṉ of enormous prowess who had no equal ran and when his stong shoulders which lifted the big mountain (kayilai) and shinning crowns were crushed, and when he approached submissively Civaṉ saying `my god!'
மலர் அடி மெள்ளவாங்கி
took away the feet resembling flower, which pressed him down.
திருவருள் செய்தார்
bestowed his benign grace
