Civaṉ in Iṉṉampar
விண்ணவர் மகுடகோடி மிடைந்த சேவடியர்
has the rows of the crowns of the celestials croweded on his red feet (when they bow before him)
பெண் ஒருபாகர்
has a lady on one half
பேடு அலி ஆணர்
is hermaphrodite with female characters predominating;
[[is a hermaphrodite being which is neither man nor woman wholly, is male]]
வண்ணம் மால் அயனும் காணாமால் வரை எரியர்
assumed the form of a fire as big as a mountain the nature of which could not be known by Māl and Ayaṉ
எண்உரு அநேகர்
is many in the eight forms, (has no end to his form if we count them;
[[எண் உரு can be taken as a compound of எட்டு உரு]]
[[போலும் in this verse and the succeeding verses are expletive]]

பாம்பு அரை உடையர்
has a cobra which is tied as a belt at the waist
துன்னிய சடையர்
has a collection of caṭai which is dense.
தூமதிமத்தர்
wears the pure crescent and dhatura flowers
[[மத்தர் ஊமத்தர் the first letter is dropped]]
மன்னிய மழுவர்
has a battle-axe always with him
மாதுஇடம் மகிழ்வர்
rejoices in having a lady in the left side
என்னையும் உடையர்
has me too as his slave

மறி ஒருகையர்
has a young deer on one hand
மாது உமை உடையர்
has the lady, Umai
பறிதலைப் பிறவிநீக்கி
separating me from the jains who pluck their hairs on their heads (the birth of having been a jain for some years)
பணிகொளவல்லர்
is capable of redeeming me and making me his servant and making me sing his praises
செறிவுடை அங்கமாலை சேர்திருவுருவர்
has on his holy body a densely strung garland of bones.
எறிபுனற்சடையர்
has on his caṭai water which throws waves.

விடம்மலிகண்டர்
has a neck in which the colour of the poison is prominent
வேள்வியை அழிப்பர்
destroyed the sacrifice (of Takkaṉ)
(1) கடவுநல்விடையர்
rides on a beautiful bull, driving it
காலனைக் காய்வர்
destroyed Kālaṉ (god of death) (to protect Mārkkaṅṭeyaṉ)
படம் மலி அரவர்
has a cobra which has many hoods
பாய் புலித்தோலர்
wears the skin of a tiger which has the nature of pouncing upon its prey;
[[பாய்புலி=உயிருள் வழி அடை; நனிமுரல்வளை (paripāṭal, 2,40); முரறல் உயிருள் வழிஅடையாய்வந்தது' (parimelaḻakar)]]
இடர்களைந்து அருள்வர்
will bestow his grace after removing the difficulties

அளிமலர்க் கொன்றை துன்றும் அவிர்சடை உடையர்
has a shining caṭai on which flowers of koṉṟai which have bees settling on them
[[அளிமலர்: generic epithet]]
களிமயிற் சாயலோடும் காமனை விழிப்பர்
Being with Umai who has the tenderness of a proud peacock, opened his frontal eye to burn Kāmaṉ (cupid)
வெளிவளர் உருவர்
has a form which pervades the space
வெண்பொடி அணிவர்
will wear the white holy ash.
அடியவர்க்கு என்றும் எளியர்
is always earlier accessible to his devotees.

கணை அமர் சிலையர்
has a bow in which an arrow is always fixed ready for use.
கரி உரி உடையர்
wears a skin of an elephant
துணைஅமர்பெண்ணர்
has a lady who is his wife
தூமணிக் குன்றர்
is like a hill of flawless gems
(1) அணை உடைஅடியர்கூடி அன்பொடு மலர்கள் தூவும் இணை அடி உடையர்
has two feet on which the devotees who approach him, crowd together and scatter flowers with piety

பொருப்பு அமர் புயத்தர்
has shoulders which are as strong as the mountain
புனல் அணிசடையர்
has a caṭai which is made beautiful by water
மருப்புஇள ஆமைதாங்கும் மார்பில் வெண்ணூலர்
Has a white sacred thread on the chest which bears the shall of a young tortoise and the hog's tusk
உருத்திரமூர்த்தி
the ParamaCivaṉ who is the cause for the great destruction
உணர்வு இலார் புரங்கள்மூன்றும் எரித்திடுசிலையர்
burnt with the help of a bow all the three cities of the senseless acurār.

காடு இடம் உடையர்
has the cremation ground as his dancing arena
கடிகுரல் விளியர்
has a roaring voice which is terrifying
[[This refers to his roaring voice during the time of destruction of the worlds]]
வேடு உரு உடையர்
has the form of a hunter
[[this refers to his assuming the guise of a hunter to grant weapons to Aruccuṉaṉ]]
வெண்மதிக் கொழுந்தர்
wears on his head a young crescent
கோடு அலர் வன்னி, தும்பை கொக்கிறகு அலர்ந்தகொன்றை ஏடுஅமர்சடையர்
has on his caṭai leaves of vaṉṉi which sprout on branches, flowers of white dead nettle, flowers as white as the feathers of crane (a kind of white flower) and petals of koṉṟai

காறிடு விடத்தை உண்டகண்டர்
has in his neck the poison he drank, and which has a kind of taste irritating the tongue
எண்தோளர்
has eight shoulders
நீறுஉடை உருவர்
has besmeared on his body holy ash.
நினைப்பினை அரியர்
is very difficult to meditate upon
[[நினைப்பினை -- நினைப்பினுக்கு]]
பாறு உடைத்தலை தகை ஏந்திப்பலிதிரிந்து உண்பர்
eats the alms which he gets by wandering, holding a skull on which the kite settles.
[[பாறு- may also mean shattered into several pieces, if taken as a verb]]
ஏறுடைக் கொடியர்
has a bull drawn on his flag.

ஆர்த்து எழும் இலங்கைக்கோனை அருவரை அடர்ப்பர்
will press down in the eminent mountain (of Kayilayam) the king of Ilaṅkai who rose roaring
பார்த்தனோடு அமர் பொருது படைகொடுத்து அருள்வர்
will grant weapon to Pārttaṉ after having fought with him
தீர்த்தம் ஆம் கங்கை தன்னைத் திருச்சடை வைப்பர்
will place on his holy caṭai Kaṅkai which is holy water
ஏத்த ஏழ் உலகும் வைத்தார்
created the living beings in the seven worlds to worship him
