நாள் தொறும் நறையணி மலர்கள் தூவி
daily scattering flowers which have honey.
மறை அணி நாவினானை
Civaṉ whose tongue is adorned by the Vētam-s.
மறப்பு இலார் மனத்து உளானை
who dwells in the minds of those who think of him without forgetting.
கறை அணிகண்டன் தன்னை
who has a neck beautified by the poison.
கனல் எரி ஆடினானை
who danced in the glowing fire
பிறை அணி சடையினானை
who has as an ornament on his caṭai a crescent.
பெருவேளூர் பேணினானை
who desired peruvēḷur as his abode.
வணங்குவேன்
pay homage.

நாதனாய்
being the master.
உலகம் எல்லாம் நம்பிரான் எனவும் நின்ற பாதன் ஆம் பரமயோகி
the chief of those who perform yōkam and who has feet and who stands to be praised by all the people of the world, as `our master'

பலபலதிறத்தினாலும் பேதமாய்த் தோன்றினானை

ஓத நா உடையறாகி உரைக்குமாறு 1. உரைக்குற்றேன்
I uttered his names in the manner in which they should be uttered being fortunate to possess a tongue to do so.

குறவிதோள் (1) மணந்த செல்வக்குமரவேள்தாதை
the father of indulgent kumaraveḷ who embraced the shoulders of kuṟavi

who has always as a half a lady of distinction with tresses of hair on which she wears fragrant leaves of bael.
பிறவியை மாற்றுவானை
who removes being born again
பெருவேளூர் பேணினானை
who desired Peruvēḷūr as his abode.
உறவினால் வல்லனாகி
as I am capable of approaching him thinking of him without ceasing. (உறவு=உறுதல்)
(2) உணருமாறு உணர்த்துவேன்
I shall cause Civaṉ to understand me in the proper way I am capable of.

மைஞ்ஞவில் கண்டன் தன்னை
Civaṉ who has a neck in which poison always stays.
வலங்கையில் மழுஒன்று ஏந்தி
holding a battle axe in the right hand.
பிஞ்ஞகன் தன்னை
who adorns his head with peacock feathers.
அம்தண் பெருவேளூர் பேணினானை
who desired to stay in beautiful and cool peruvēḷūr.
பொய்ஞ்ஞெக நினையமாட்டாப் பொறியிலா (1) அறிவுஇலேனே
I do not possess the good fortune and knowledge to think of him for all my lies to slip off.

Civaṉ who wears a gold plate on his forehead;
(ஓடை is used generally in the meaning of a frontlet worn on the elephant`s face).

உரிவையை மூடினானை
who covered himself with a skin (of an elephant).
வீடு (அதே) காட்டுவானை
shows the path to eternal bliss.
வேதம் நான்கு ஆயினானை
has himself, become the four vetams.
பேடை சேர் 1. புறவம் நீங்காப் பெருவேளூர் பேணினானை
desired as his abode peruvēlūr which the pigeons united with their females do not leave.
கூட நான் வல்ல மாற்றம் குறுகுமாறு அறிகிலேனே
I am incapable of being united with him and approaching him with proper words which are capable of conveying my wish to him.

கச்சை சேர் நாகத்தானை
Civaṉ who ties a cobra as a belt.
கடல்விடம் கண்டத்தானை
who has poison that rose in the ocean, in his neck.
கச்சி ஏகம்பன் தன்னை
who is in the temple ēkampam in kacci.
கனல் எரி ஆடுவானை
who dances in the blazing fire.
பிச்சை சேர்ந்து உழல்வினானை
who wanders to collect alms.
பெருவேளூர் பேணினானை
who desired to stay in peruvēlūr.
இச்சை 1. சேர்ந்து அமர
to be without birth and death having devotion as qualification for that.
நானும் இறைஞ்சுமாறு இறைஞ்சுவேன்
I shall pay homage to him in the proper manner.

சித்தராய் வந்து தன்னைத் திருவடி வணங்குவார்கள் முத்தனை
Civaṉ who grants salvation to those who worship his feet coming to him and who have acquired eight kinds of mystic powers.
(1) மூர்த்தி ஆய் முதல்வனை
the chief who has a visible form.
முழுதும் ஆய பித்தனை
who has completely mania for his devotees.
பிறரும் (2) ஏத்தப் பெருவேளூர் பேணினானை
who desired peruvēḷūr as his abode to be praised by people who are not accustomed to praise him.
(3) மெத்த நேயவனை நாளும் விரும்புமாறு அறிகிலேனே
I am incapable of making Civaṉ desire me daily, who loves in an abundant measure all beings.

முண்டமே தாங்கினானை
Civaṉ who has an ornament of skulls. (It may also mean Civaṉ who holds a skull as a begging bowl)
முற்றிய ஞானத்தானை
who is the form of mature spiritual widom.
வண்டு உலாம் கொன்றை மாலை வளர் மதிக்கண்ணியானை
who has a garland of koṉṟai on which bees move about and a chaplet of thriving crescent.
பிண்டமே ஆயினானை
who is the body of all living beings
பெருவேளூர் பேணினானை
who desired peruvēḷūr as his abode.
அண்டம் ஆம் ஆதியானை
the first cause who is also the worlds.
அறியுமாறு அறிகிலேனே
I am incapable of making him know me individuadly.

விரிவு இலா அறிவினோர்கள்
narrow-minded people who do not possess broad vision.
வேறு ஒரு சமயம் செய்து எரிவினால் சொன்னாரேனும்
though fabricated a different religion and preached it out of jealousy.
எம்பிராற்கு ஏற்றது ஆகும்
it will be proper thing for our Lord.
பரிவினால் பெரியோர் ஏத்தும் பெருவேளூர் பற்றினானை மருவி
being united wish Civaṉ who adheres to peruvēḷūr which is praised by great men with love.
நான் வாழ்த்தி உய்யும் வகை (அது) நினைக்கின்றேன்
I think of redeeming myself by praising him.

பொருகடல் இலங்கை மன்னன் உடல் கெடப் பொருத்தி
fixing his toe to destroy the body of the king of ilaṅkai which is dashed by the waves as if they are fighting with the shore.
நல்லகருகிய கண்டத்தானை
Civaṉ who has a beautiful black neck (the neck contains the poison which could make the celestials die; so it is given the epithet of நல்ல).
கதிர் இளங்கொழுந்து சூடும் பெருகிய சடையினானை
who has an expanded caṭai on which he wears a young crescent.
பெருவேளூர் பேணினானை
who desired peruvēḷūr as his abode.
உருகிய அடியர் ஏத்தும் உள்ளத்தால் உள்குவேன்
I shall meditate on him with that mind of the devotees of melting heart which is their quality.
