படுகுழிப்பவ்வத்து அன்ன பண்டியைப் பெய்த ஆற்றால்
as you have given a belly which is like a ocean of pitfalls.
கெடுவது இம் மனிதர் வாழ்க்கை
the human life is ruined.
காண்தொறும் கேதுகின்றேன்
every time I think of this I cry aloud from grief.
முடுகுவர் இருந்து உள் ஐவர்
the five senses hasten to ruin me, residing within me.
1. மூர்க்கரேல்
as they are obstinate.
இவர்களோடும் அடியனேன் வாழமாட்டேன்
I, your slave, an incapable of living with these.

புழுப்பெய்த பண்டி தன்னைப் புறம் ஒரு தோலால் மூடி
covering the stomach into which worms are poured, with a skin outside, to conceal its ugliness.
ஒழுக்கு அறா ஒன்பது வாய் ஒற்றுமை ஒன்றும் இல்லை
the nine aperture from which flow of bad matter never ceases have little agreement among them.
சழக்கு உடை இதனுள் ஐவர் சங்கடம் பலவும் செய்ய அழிப்பனாய் வாழமாட்டேன்
I cannot live with exhaustion when the five senses which are useless inflict on me many sufferings.

பஞ்சின் மெல்லடியினார்கள் பாங்கராய்
when the ladies who have feet softer than the cotton, are near me.
அவர்கள் நின்று நெஞ்சில் நோய் பலவும் செய்து
they create always troubles in my mind.
நினையினும் 1. நினைய ஒட்டார்
though I may think of you, they do not allow me to do so.
நஞ்சு அணி மிடற்றினானே
Civaṉ whose neck is adorned by the poison!
நாதனே
my master!
நம்பனே
Civaṉ!
நான் அஞ்சினேற்கு அஞ்சல்' என்னீர்
comfort me who is afraid of worldly life by saying Do not fear.

கறைசேர்கண்டா
Civaṉ who has a neck in which there is poison!
அண்டவானவர் போற்றும் ஆரூர் மூலட்டனீரே
the Lord in ārūr mūlaṭṭāṉam which is praised by the celestials in heaven!
கெண்டை அம் தடங்கண் நல்லார் தம்மையே கெழும வேண்டி
with a desire to be united with ladies who have large eyes like keṇṭai ( a fresh water fish )
குண்டராய்த் திரிதந்து ஐவர்
the five sense wander like mean persons.
1. குலைத்து இடர்க்குழியில் நூக்க
destroying my firmness of mind and pushing me into the deep pit of sufferings.
கண்டு நான் தரிக்ககில்லேன்
I have not the strength to put up with them seeing their bad effects.
காத்துக் கொள்
protect me, taking care of me.

தாழ் குழல் 1. இன்சொல் நல்லார் தங்களைத் தஞ்சம் என்று ஏழையேன் ஆகி
having become ignorant thinking that the ladies who speak sweet words and have tresses of hair hanging down, are my refuge.
நாளும் என் செய்கேன்
what shall I do daily?
எந்தை பெம்மான்
God who is our father!
வாழ்வதேல் அரிது போலும்
Leading a life in the spiritual path is, perhaps, a little bit difficult.
வைகலும் ஐவர் வந்து ஆழ்குழிப்படுக்க ஆற்றேன்
I cannot bear the five senses `pushing me into a deep pit daily'.

மாற்றம் ஒன்று அருளிகில்லீர்
you do not tell me a word of comfort.
மதியிலேன் விதியிலாமை சீற்றமும் தீர்த்தம் செய்யீர்
you do not remove the anger caused by me to you by not leading a life according to rules laid down in scriptures.
சிக்கனவு உடையர் ஆகி
being hard-hearted.
கூற்றம் போல் ஐவர் வந்து குலைத்திட்டுக் கோகு செய்ய ஆற்றவும் கில்லேன் நாயேன்
I, who is as low as a dog, am absolutely not capable of putting up with the disorder created in me by disturbing the balance of mind by the five senses which are like the god of death. (கோது unjust loud shouting) is another meaning.

உயிர்நிலை உடம்பே காலா
the body which is the abode of life being the pillar set up as a post.
உள்ளமே தாழி ஆக
the mind being the large pot with a wide mouth.
துயரமே ஏற்றம் ஆக
the physical sufferings being the picottah or well-sweep.
துன்பக்கோல் அதனைப்பற்றி
catching hold of the pole which is mental sufferings.
பயிர்தனைச்சுழியவிட்டு
leaving the crops to become bent by withering.
பாழ்க்கு நீர் இறைத்து
baling out water for a barren land.
மிக்க அயர்வினால் ஐவர்க்கு ஆற்றேன்
I am unequal to the five senses on account of my extreme exhaustion.

கற்றதேல் ஒன்றும் இல்லை
If there is anything I have studied it is nothing.
காரிகை மாரோடு ஆடிப் பெற்றதேல் பெரிதும் துன்பம்
Having union with beautiful ladies what I got is suffering in a large measure.
பேதையேன்
I who an ignorant
பிழைப்பினாலே
by committing many wrongs acts.
முற்றினால்
if I become mature.
ஐவர் வந்து முறை முறை துயரம் செய்ய
the five sense inflict sufferings on me by turns.
அற்று
having lost the strength to withstand their misschief.
நான் 1. அலந்து போனேன்
I was very much in distress.

பாவியேன் பத்தனாய்ப் பரவி வந்து வாழமாட்டேன்
I who is a sinner am incapable of leading a life of a pious person, praising you.
சித்தத்துள் ஐவர் தீய செய்வினை பலவும் தீய
as the many evil acts of the five senses scorch me in my mind.
மத்து உறு தயிரேபோல் மறுகும் என் உள்ளம் (தானும்)
my mind gets bnewildered like the curd that is broken by the churning staff;
[[மத்து உறுதயிர் is a common simile employed in literature;
மத்து ஆர் தயிர் போல் மறுகும் என் சிந்தை மயக்கு ஒழிவி (nāavukkaracar, tiruccatti muṟṟam, 3),
மான் நிலாவிய நோக்கியர் படிறிடை மத்திடுதயிர் ஆகி;

தடக்கை (1) நால் ஐந்தும் கொண்டு தடவரை தன்னைப் பற்றி எடுத்தவன் பேர்க்க ஓடி இரிந்தன பூதம் எல்லாம்
all the putams fled helter-skelter when the arakkaṉ lifted the big mountain to uproot it from its place with the help of all the twenty big hands.
(2) முடித்தலை பத்தும் தோளும் முளிதர இறையே ஊன்றி அடர்த்து அருள் செய்தது என்னே
what is the reason for bestowing your grace on him, by pressing firmly a little time, your toe to break all the ten heads wearing crowns, and shoulders.
