கனகம் மாவயிரம் (1) முந்து மாமணிக் கயிலை கண்டும்
after seeing the Kayilai which has gold, big diamonds, and other eminent, and big gems.
உனகனாய்
being a mean person

அரக்கன் ஓடி எடுத்தலும்
when the arakkaṉ lifted the mountain running towards it.
அனகனாய் நின்ற ஈசன் ஊன்றலும் அலறி வீழ்ந்தான்
when Civaṉ who was without sin fixed his toe firmly fell down roaring.
மனகனாய் ஊன்றினானேல்
if he has fixed his toe with the intention of killing him.
மறித்தும் நோக்கு இல்லை அன்றே
one could not see him again alive.

கதித்தவன் கண் சிவந்து கயிலை நன் மலையை ஓடி அதிர்த்து அவன் எடுத்திடலும் அரிவை தான் அஞ்ச
when the lady, Umai was frightened as the roaring arakkaṉ being angry with the mountain and thereby his eyes becoming red, ran and lifted the beautiful Kayilaimalai.
ஈசன் நெதித்தவன் ஊன்றியிட்ட நிலை அழிந்து அலறி வீழ்ந்தான்
Civaṉ who has the wealth of penance lost his state by having fixed his toe, fell down roaring.
மதித்து இறை ஊன்றினானேல்
if the god had fixed tightly.
மறித்தும் நோக்கு இல்லை அன்றே

when Irāvaṇaṉ who was angry, his eyes becoming red tried to turn upside down the beautiful Kayilaimalai
மங்கை அஞ்ச
as the young lady feared
வானவர் இறைவன் நக்கு
the Lord of the celestials smiled.
நெறித்து ஒடு விரலால் ஊன்ற
and fixed firmly a single toe, to break his bones.
நெடு வரையே போல வீழ்ந்தான்
fell down like a tall mountain.
மறித்து இறை ஊன்றினானேல்
if he again fixed his toe firmly.
மறித்தும் நோக்கு இல்லை அன்றே

இறையவன் இறையே நக்கு
the Lord smiled a little while.
நொடிப்பு அற விரலால் ஊன்ற
to fix his toe for a moment.
நோவதும் அலறியிட்டான்
roared feeling pain
மடித்து இறை ஊன்றினானேல்
if he had fired the toe bending it for a moment.
மறித்தும் நோக்கு இல்லை அன்றே

கயிலை நன் மலையை வென்றித் தன் கைத்தலத்தால் எடுத்தலும்
as soon as he lifted the beautiful Kayilaimalai with his hands which had previously victory to their credit.

when the young lady was frightened.
நன்றுத் தான் நக்கு நாதன் ஊன்றலும்
when the master laughed and fired his toe.
நகழ வீழ்ந்தான்
fell down to suffer acute pain

ஊன்றியிட்ட வெற்பினால் அலறி வீழ்ந்தான்
he fell down crying by the weight of the mountain pressed by him.
மறித்திறை ஊன்றினானேல்
if he pressed again.
மளித்து நோக்கு இல்லையன்றே

கயிலை நல் மலையைக் கையால் எருத்தனாய் எடுத்தவாறே ஏந்திழை அஞ்ச
as the lady beautifully decked with jewels, feared, as soon as lifted with his hands the beautiful Kayilaimalai like a bull.
திருத்தனாய் நின்ற ஈசன் தேவன் திருவிரல் ஊன்ற வீழ்ந்தான்
fell down when holy Civaṉ fixed his holy toe.
வருத்துவான் ஊன்றினானேல்
if he had fixed his toe with the intention of causing suffering to him.
மறித்தும் நோக்கு இல்லை அன்றே

lifted the beautiful Kayilaimalai, when the lady who has a beautiful form feared.

looking at him as if embracing him.
செடிபட
to cause distress to him.
திருவிர(ல்)லால் ஊன்றலும் சிதைந்து வீழ்ந்தான்
fell down injured, when Civaṉ fixed his holy toe.
வடிவு உற ஊன்றினானேல்
if he had fixed his toe to make a deep impression.

Irāvaṇaṉ with red eyes was scorched.
கயிலை நன் மலையைப்பற்றி இரியத்தான் எடுத்திட(ல்)லும்
as he lifted the beautiful Kayilaimalai catching hold of it, the beings living there to flee in several directions.
ஏந்திழை அஞ்ச
when the beautiful lady decked with jewels, feated.
ஈசன் நெரியத்தான் ஊன்றா முன்னம் நிற்கிலாது அலறி வீழ்ந்தான்
fell down roaring without being able to stand, even before Civaṉ fixed his toe to crush him.
மரியத் தான் ஊன்றினானேல்
if he had fixed firmly to cause death to him.
மறித்தும் நோக்கு இல்லை அன்றே

அரக்கன் கற்றனன் கயிலை தன்னைக் காண்டலும் ஓடி
the arakkaṉ, running towards Kayilai belonging to Civaṉ, who learnt the vētams with the proper intentions, as soon as he saw it.
செற்றவன் எடுத்தவாறே
by the manner by which he lifted it with enmity.
சேயிழை அஞ்ச
as Umai wearing beautiful ornaments feared
ஈசன் உற்று இறை ஊன்றா முன்னம் உணர்வு அழிவகையால் வீழ்ந்தான்
fell down as his consciousness was destroyed even before Civaṉ fixed his toe firmly.
மற்று இறை ஊன்றினானேல்
if the Lord had fixed his toe very firmly.
மறித்தும் நோக்கு இல்லை அன்றே
